  1. It would be nice to here William's touch, once more, in Potter films. Hallows would be excellent, especially...I can imagine some haunting, "Reaching the Country/Gupta's Deliverance" music used on the visit to Godric's Hollow. THe Battle of Hogwarts will also allow some great JW music, as well as the adventure in the Ministyr of Magic, and much, much more. Williams is the only one who could cover such a wide variety of events and moods in Hallows, and I hope the producers or directors notice that. My second choice would be Hooper, though.
  2. And welcome to the board, "Breakfast Jim"
  3. According to this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Trial_of_the_Chicago_7 Spielberg will be directing "The Trial of the Chicago 7". If I am reading this correctly, Spielberg will be directing the first of three different films about the Chicago 7. One can hope this is true, for if it is, it means another JW score!
  4. Yes, another poll. I want to kindly encourage all of those who don't want to vote to not vote. I have no desire to read your harsh words. And now, my personal preference: 1. Call of the Champions 2. Olympic Fanfare 3. Olympic Spirit 4. Summon the Heroes 5. Olympic Theme
  5. OMG! You're right! I will have to look up who is this Alan Silvestri and what are his best soundtracks. Mousehunt is my favorite by Silvestri. It's weird, because I've been seeing a lot of things online that say "Forrest Gump" was scored by JW. I've dismissed them as typos, but I wonder if there is some weird rumor going around that JW scored Gump.
  6. This website is really really fabulous!! That was a great way to honor JW, and a really creative one, too. You can almost hear how his music evolves, just by seeing these sites. Bravo, to and excellent, new idea!
  7. What's the deal w/ the "complete" Phantom Menace release, anyways? I've never liked it as much as the original soundtrack, but is there actually music JW wrote that wasn't released in it?
  8. I get most of my scores from eBay and Amazon. From eBay, I've gotten: Jaws 2 Temple of Doom Minority Report Home Alone Raiders of the Lost Ark (expanded edition) Home Alone 2 The Terminal Nightmare Before Christmas and some others I've forgotten I used to use eBay the most, but now, I'm more of an Amazon person.
  9. Anybody know how many original JW soundtracks are availbe to buy?? (not including special editions and all that stuff...for instance, Empire Strikes Back counts as one) Where'd you get the Family Plot boot??
  10. I'm sure some of you will hate me for ranking some of his popular scores so low, but this is just my personal preference. Okay, here it is: 1. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2. Jurassic Park 3. Superman: The Movie 4. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 5. 1941 (mainly for Swing, Swing, Swing) 6. Jaws 2 7. E.T. The Extra Terrestrial 8. The Empire Strikes Back 9. Catch Me If You Can 10. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 11. Home Alone 12. The Terminal 13. Raiders of the Lost Ark 14. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 15. Revenge of the Sith 16. Hook 17. The Phantom Menace 18. Star Wars 19. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 20. Attack of the Clones 21. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York 22. The Lost World: Jurassic Park 23. Empire of the Sun 24. American Journey 25. A.I. Artificial Intelligence 26. The Cowboys 27. Jaws 28. Close Encounters of the Third Kind 29. Minority Report 30. The Eiger Sanction 31. War of the Worlds Some Extras: I predict Indiana Jones 4 will be in the top 15, probably even higher. I hope!!! Another Extra: My favorite JW compilation CD is "By Request....The Best of John Williams and the Boston Pops". Great arrangements (particularly for "Theme from Jaws", "Suite from Close Encounters of the Third Kind", and "The Cowboys Overture". Alas, one more extra: If Family Plot was released on CD, though I would have to listen to it more, it would probably find its way to the top 15, probably taking the place of Revenge of the Sith.
  11. I think all of Hooper's themes are fantastic, but the only one that I think could REALLY really sound good in Hallows would be a very quiet, almost unaudible version of Umbridge's theme, just right when they first see her in the Ministry of Magic. Using the rest of them just wouldn't fit...I mean, the only time the D.A. is really important is during the battle of Hogwarts, and while their theme suited the montage is was written for, that cheerful tune wouldn't fit a gory, epic battle scene. Hooper's a great composer, it's just none of his themes would really fit in Hallows (except Umbridge's). I don't really like Doyle's themes, and I doubt those will be used at all.
  12. According to the link: "he [John Williams] was sorely missed on the last two films (not to detract from Doyle's or Hooper's excellent work)." How would JW know that? Did he and the directors talk trash about Doyle and Hooper?? I just hope he lives long enough...God, I wish he were immortal! On the same note, do you think JW will write music until his death, or will he retire first??
  13. Well, they did kiss in one scene.
  14. Not only is this good news about HP, it also proves that BS thing about Zimmer scoring Indy 4 was totally fake.
  15. I think as long as the director of the final film doesn't have a favorite composer, there is a good chance Williams will do it. I hope so!!!
  16. Amen! May we never get burned again. There's a set up for auction on Ebay for $5.99 USD, with no bidders. On the subject, I just bought online the cd "Goldsmith Conducts Goldsmith" for $11. I love Goldsmith, so it doesn't quite matter, but, was that a good price (IOW, is this particular cd a must-have)? Here's a link to amazon w/ that cd: http://www.amazon.com/Goldsmith-Conducts-J...9422&sr=8-1 Apparently, you paid about average...a little bit lower for a new CD, a little bit more for a used one. On another note, the only Goldsmith I have is ST:TMP, Planet of the Apes, and Soarin' (from the ride in California Adventures). I realize how popular he is among fans of film music, and I've been wanting to hear more from him, and expand my collection. Would this be a good CD to buy to introduce me to more of his music? Is it good sound quality, and good selections? Well, I just ordered it, so once I listen I'll let you know. Judging from the comments from that link, it's gonna be pretty good. I have a pretty good-sized chunk of stuff from him (which still doesn't scratch the surface, since he was so prolific), and there's one cd of re-recordings that he conducted called Frontiers that is a particular favorite of mine. There's one cue from ST:TMP, none from PoTA,so there's plenty of other things to sample there. Alright, thanks! I like ST:TMP a lot more that PoTA, too. My favorite of his cues is probably Soarin', which isn't even from a movie.

  18. All of his original storylines for the original Star Wars trilogy were about 2 twins and their father...either this shot was meant to play the audiences on, and make them think Luke and Leia were destined for each other...or it was a real love between Hamill and Fisher.
