  1. Why were almost 30 minutes of the bonus disc left empty?
  2. Why was "Marcus is captured" combined with "To Berlin"? There are a number of other short cues left separate (e.g. Journey to Austria) after all, and the two cues are by no means related. Why was "Father and Son reunited" preferred over the arguably more significant cues (in terms of theme development) that follow?
  3. Did anyone mention it in this thread? There's so much bs going on about fixing problems I get tired of scrolling thru looking for actual talk about the music. Don't think so; I have read most of it, and it really is mainly about the technical stuff.
  4. Interesting; I just noticed it this afternoon and was about to ask the same thing. It's not very conspicuous, but once you have heard it...
  5. I saw Williams this year when he conducted the US National Marine Band in DC. Great evening. They played lots of interesting stuff (although it was bit weird to hear it without a proper strings section); the highlight was the imperial march, given as an encore....absolutely great.
  6. Yeah, I would probably have chosen the same cues. I particularly miss "The Catacombs" and "Elsa's Betrayel" (very nice version of the grail theme). And "Fortune and Glory", of course. But then, there was no need to drop cues just for time reasons.
  7. I'm not particularly disturbed by it either. I just found it curious that the quality is worse in this one cue.
  8. Well I can hear the strings, but there seems to be considerable hiss as well. Not as much as in Raiders, but more than in any of the other TOD cues. It's a bit hard to compare, since many cues start immediately with rather loud music, but if you listen to the end of Short Rounds theme for example, it appears much clearer.
  9. Is it possible that there is much more hissing noise in "Indy and the Villagers" than in the other TOD cues? The rest sounds so clear, but in this one cue it's almost distracting. Sorry if I missed an earlier discussion on that.
  10. Back in 1997 the Special Edition CDs were released individually every two weeks to coincide with each of the SE Movies being released, if my memory serves me right. When the scores were re-released again back in 2004 they came individually or in a box set. Was the sound quality actually better in the latest versions? I always went for the 1997 cds, because of the excellent liner notes.
  11. So did I. Ironically I received "A new Hope" just yesterday...needed something to make waiting easier, and I never cared so much about this cd (I own the anthology, so there's not much new material for me on the Special Edition cds - the sound seems to be better, though).
  12. Listening to "Uncovering of the Ark" at present I noticed that none of the original soundtracks of the first three movies contained the music of the scene where the respective McGuffin is actually found. It's particularly weird in Last Crusade. It's all about the holy grail, but just when Indy is about to get it, it jumps to the end credits ?!?
  13. Does the refer to my apparent indifference (it's not true; I'm just trying hard not to get too agitated ;-)) or the story of the stab hole?
  14. Oh, I guess that's not worth the effort. Let me move a couple of time and it looks like that anyway. At least it's not torn and the Digipaks still fit. Have seen worse (got a DVD box with a stab hole once; a miracle it didn't break the discs ;-)) Just listened to "to Cairo". Never heard so many musical details before. And the choir in "Map Room" is also great. I much prefer that version over the DCC (although the new/old "Desert chase" is, well, suboptimal)
  15. What happened to the box? "Washington Men" really is a great variation of the Ark theme, and I love the expansion JW gives the motif he had in "Idol Temple" for "Indy Rides the Statue." Other than that, I hear the choir much better in this version of "The Map Room," so that was very nice, and it's everything I wanted it to be so far. I'm currently listening to "The Fist Fight/The Flying Wing." The upper rear edge was smashed in. It's not too bad, but it affected the Digipaks and the booklet with the, "cough", liner notes as well. A bit annoying.
  16. I bought the Making-of book, the first two omnibus comic books, and the Target 2DVD set of Crystal Skull. @ Quint: your Avatar looks interesting. Is that a movie I should know?
  17. So, I listened to the complete TOD score, and I admit I severely underestimated it; it's really one of Williams' best. Very, very enjoyable. I was surprised that this weird sound that you can here when the three Sankara stones are brought together is actually part of the score and not just a sound effect (I never had the original CD). Now its Raiders' turn Mine was somewhat damaged during transport; I'm always that lucky. Ah well, the music is the important thing, right?
  18. Wow, there really is a noticeable difference in sound quality between the cds and the tracks I downloaded from Amazon. The downloaded files used to break/crack or whatever you want to call it when I listened to them with my headphones at high volume, but there's no such thing so far concerning the cd tracks. I'm satisfied. Rest of Last Crusade, I'm coming...
  19. Just got it!!! Together with my new ipod nano :spiny: The agonizing time of waiting is over...
  20. Ahh, I had wondered about that when you posted about the tracking not updating. As I said USPS is SLOW as hell updating their tracking and sometimes won't update it until AFTER the package has been delivered. Ya I'm gonna go insane too if I don't get mine tomorrow...but it's taken no more than 4 days max to get a package from Peter. 4 days? That would be Friday! And you seem to live much closer to New Mexico than I do. Ahhh
  21. I have actually never listened to those. Maybe I should give them a try? Hope the scores are more like Batman and Hellboy II than Planet of the Apes.
  22. The holiday didn't stop UPS from getting to my house. You should have gotten it as well. I ordered mine through MovieMusic since it saved me about $10. All priority orders from Peter shipped out Monday and that's through USPS and so with the post office closed yesterday there was no mail, so no mail no box set. Looks as if we have the exact same problem. If it doesn't arrive by tomorrow, I am going to get crazy
  23. No packet for me today Thank you USPS! Guess I should never have cancelled my order from Amazon. Another day of waiting...
