  1. I don't like it. It's an ugly color. What does it matter?
  2. I don't understand your question, you worded it weird. The original 1974 LP is the same recordings used in the film. The new re-issue is the same as the 1974 LP.
  3. Horrible cover. A case where I would have preferred one with the actor's faces.
  4. Unfortunately for us, usually when a label re-issues an old LP like this, that means another label cannot also release an expanded score until this label's license runs out. Of course, since WEA owns Rhino, maybe that means a complete release can still happen.
  5. ... but only for digital download. Here's where I've found it so far: iTunes [256kbps AAC]: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/towering-inferno-original/id932230572Amazon MP3 [256kbps MP3]: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OSCJNSG/jwfancom-20Google Play [320kbps MP3]: https://play.google.com/store/music/album/John?id=Bchszf2l5sv3r4l3ppe5gwtyrlmqobuz [lossless]: http://www.qobuz.com/fr-fr/album/the-/0603497897193Doesn't seem to be on HDTracks. Random!
  6. No excuse!! It should be pointed out that the iTunes listing says "Deluxe Edition" and the total running time of all those tracks is 1:26:29, which is longer than fits on a CD, and we know from the Amazon listing that the physical OST is only 1 disc. So either a 2CD Deluxe Edition is forthcoming, but not up on Amazon yet - or, the extra music is an iTunes or digital-only exclusive.
  7. The problem is that when they shot the Wilderland, Beorn, Mirkwood, and Woodland Realm sequences, Bilbo was supposed to still be the underdog no one wanted there that Thorin was still scoffing at. Their big bro-mance moment was supposed to happen after the Forest River chase. When that acceptance was moved way up to just after the Frying Pan sequence, we're left with this awkward sequence of events where as you say not much Bilbo does is acknowledged by anyone.
  8. Lazy!!!! https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/interstellar-original-motion/id932220056
  9. I should listen to the FGG OST again, it's been ages since I've heard it
  10. I know NOTHING about the TBOTFA score, unfortunately Can't wait to hear samples!
  11. I like it too, but it will always be Cristiada to me. Do you like Black Gold, DT? I think that's one of Horner's best post-Avatar scores.
  12. You can sell your Varese version to pay for most of the LLL version. The LLL version is definitely superior (but I suppose not essential)
  13. I didn't say it was a problem, I am explaining the lack of a character arc he has in the final DOS film, and that in the original 2 film structure, he had a character arc in each film.
  14. I was thinking about that the other day and I realized: The lack of Bilbo in DOS is a direct result of the 2->3 film split. Think about it. As scripted and originally shot, Bilbo had a complete arc in each film. Film 1: Rustled out of his peaceful existence in the Shire, ends up going on a trek and defeating trolls, goblins, and spiders and saving all the dwarves from capture, and finally accepted by Thorin at the end. Film 2: Now has the courage to enter Smaug's chamber, steals the Arkenstone, helps win the Battle of Five Armies, returns home a changed hobbit. All good, right? Two complete arcs, making total film-ic sense and sets up for awesome score momentum. Now with the 3 film structure that wasn't scripted that way, we ended up with his first arc taking less time, and his second arc completely contained in the final movie, leaving film 2 empty of a Bilbo arc: Film 1: Rustled out of his peaceful existence in the Shire, ends up going on a trek and defeating trolls and goblins, then gets accepted by Thorin at the end Film 2: He defeats spiders, saves the dwarves from capture... but has already been accepted by Thorin, so... then he talks to Smaug, but we don't even know if he got the Arkenstone yet or not, so... Film 3: Hides the Arkenstone from Thorin, uses the Arkenstone to barter peace, helps win the Battle of Five Armies, returns home a changed hobbit. So that's why Bilbo's theme is barely featured in the current Film 2, and why many complain he doesn't have much to do - because he doesn't! Again, it's all PJ's fault
  15. Check out this FANTASTIC interview with Danny Elfman, really worth reading! http://www.avclub.com/article/danny-elfman-oingo-boingo-film-scores-and-beatles--210856
  16. Correct, PJ dialed out the music in the final film during the Bard family homecoming. Hopefully it is used MORE than once but yea, it'll be bullshit if it does't appear at all. Gorgeous theme.
  17. We might hear it when Bard gets out of jail and reunites with his family or something. Other than that I dunno if there'll be an opportunity for it.
  18. John Carter added to the cast http://www.adweek.com/news/television/taylor-kitsch-true-detective-call-duty-and-living-out-his-car-la-160952
