  1. Yeah, I have at least one CD that has this problem and it creates a skip while playing: my original TOD CD is one of them. Sucketh. Well, I try to back-up most of my most treasured music in music CDR and mp3 CDs for car/travel purposes, and now it seems like third good reason... archiving. I do notice the pinholes, more in the older ones. I also notice them in older CDRs that I had in soft CD wallets too long. Now, like KM, I only use hard-case CD wallets.
  2. Religious discussion? We were talking about forgiveness in the context of the finale of a Star Wars movie. If that discussion is a religious topic, then what isn't? Lighten up, Mr. Biggest-rule-bender-of-us-all Cosman. I was just going to ask when it's coming. I'd rather have it in May. So nobody knows? Also, thanks for still not sending me an email, Trent! Yeah. Or 13, with an extra to include the essential alternates and/or concert versions. But I doubt anybody here would go to that. Hmm... unless it was Steef, Joe and a few of the others picketing Lucas or plotting his assassination. Then, from there, I imagine an argument would occur with Joe carrying the noose yelling, "ELIMINATE THE DEMON!", and Steef carrying a Star Trek phaser gun toy speaking incoherent Klingon babble.
  3. How strange. Saying "Indeed" all the time hasn't been funny in like 10-20 years or so. It's hip here just now? What link? I don't know where you got that. You seem like a good guy Chris, but my allegance is not to you. Sorry. That's not what I request of anybody. I just request that you, as a newcomer to the board, don't act like a gossiping old lady like some that post disappearing links. Don't be a punk!
  4. 1. I am your elder. (By... exactly, what... three years to the day or something?) 2. I founded the Towner Knights - originally me, yourself, and King Mark - to which you betrayed me and named yourself leader! Nonsense! Now there is just me and King Mark. Third member is always up for grabs... but it is up to King Mark and myself for deciding. Likely someone with more credit and a bigger Williams collection than either of us! I was going to say, "far younger and more powerful..." but that wouldn't be anybody! 3. My revenge is not yet extracted from your carcass. But is will be. Oh yes... it will be. (Insert calm and knowing smirk.) I'm a fan of all types of forgiveness. Even if somebody kills and isn't repentant? For example, that would be like - in an alternate ending of Jedi - Obi-Wan and Yoda forgiving Vader and Palpatine after they killed Luke and blew up the the entire rebel fleet.
  5. The thread was about that we have been in hell for 10 years since the Star Wars 'special editions'. I more relate it to a bittersweet revisit of the saga - some good and some bad - than hell. Complete scores of the OCT and all three seen on the big screen for the 1st time in years... those are two great positives though. Red Rabbit said he knows that I'm evil or something. I've been called many things but never evil. Well, my sense of humor at times... maybe... hmm.... So?It's illegal! Ban him! And that's nicer that drawn and quartering the red rabbit like Joe said! I know exactly when joe is joking or not. Jedi mind trick or Vulcan mind meld? Or... something far more sinister? I....see..... You know, I left that open for you to say, "HURRY UP, GO BACK TO THE OLD BOARD!" I'm surprised, Stefan! You're slipping! Actually, I spent most of the day coloring a Towner comic, but still managed to post here! I'm impressed with my powers! What is that- a demon who is not allowed to drink?
  6. I was waiting until the whole series gets released to buy them on DVD, but I taped The Pine Barrens on DVD the last time it was on. Oh God... it is just too much. Finding those condiment packets... oh, haha!.
  7. As for The Sopranos, yes, I love the entire series. A few episodes (the dream episodes for example), can get a bit tedious, but there isn't a season that I didn't enjoy. And my favorite episode is The Pine Barrens. I almost die laughing every time I see Paulie and Christopher get stranded in the woods. The comedy is just too much.
  8. for that alone you should be banned, or ripped limb from limb, in a slow and torturous way. I am now aware of how true that is. I have no master! Except for the Breathmask I do not believe in being a master or a servant to anybody. It's against my religion. But still... aware of how true what is? Also, Joe's remark seems like a personal attack to me. One never knows when Joe is joking or serious. He seems like that bitter old man from that Seinfeld episode... the one that the gang chewed up his dentures in the garbage disposal. Stefan, How could I return when I never left? I've just been too busy to post much. I took a small break between my artwork duties to finally post. This particular board also is very quick to me, which makes it easier.
  9. You're speaking to Stefan, right? Stefan made the comment that Luke was stupid for forgiving his father, and I said it looked like everybody else did too. I thought that Vader, taking out the unforgivably-evil Palpatine, earned at least some degree of forgiveness, and many RotJ-bashers disagree with me here. Myself, I'm big on warranted forgiveness, but against unwarranted forgiveness. I knew you had potential, lad!
  10. Looks like old Obi-Wan, Yoda, and whatever is "the light side of the force" forgave him too.
  11. Anybody know if Lucas is going to release anything in HD-DVD or Blu-Ray soon? Or will he wait until the format is nearly dead before he does 5 similar "SE" releases and saving the theatrical versions release until the NEXT generation of home video takes over? Like I said... give me 2 disc sets with new, old, and never before seen versions and I'm happy.
  12. Do not fall for the haplessly dogmatic rhetoric of Stefan's minions! Have I ever told you the tale of Darth Kingligeous?
  13. Well, since so many are talking about TV shows and not movies, then I'll add my 2 cents. For me, I need an annual Sopranos re-telling. Best show ever!
  14. Lucas needs a group of reps that can make the point very clear: Release each Star Wars movie with a cleaned up Theatrical release and the latest "Creator's Cut" that includes deleted scenes, and new scenes (either as extras or possibly the ability to choose which version they want to see - with new and deleted scenes or just plain original version). Then everybody is happy, and Lucas is again a hero. Maybe that's his plan? Be Anakin himself? Make everybody hate him via his dark deeds, then save the day and be forgiven.
  15. Yes, I've always been one to say that the restored, anamorphic widescreen theatrical editions should be released in 2 disc sets with Lucas' latest "Special Editions" that also contain all deleted scenes. To me, that's the best scenario! A win-win for all sides of the argument. I've also been one to say why do people hate Lucas for making them? Make as many revisions as you want, and also make the theatrical editions available too. Also, Trent... I AM hurt that you ignore me, buddy. Did I hurt your feelings once or something? Can't reply one email or IM?
  16. Why? I agree. I still liked it other than the massive gaff of making the drive-in people remember what happened. I like both versions, in fact. Lester's version is funnier, Donner's cut is more dramatic. One doesn't have to draw a line in the sand and say one version sucks and the other doesn't. I don't think they had the funds to do such a thing. Also, it isn't the type of film that would look good with new SFX. Nobody said either was the script version. I only said if Lucas did that, people would bust his balls even more now than they already did. Nobody says a thing about Donner's chronological gaff. And it creates a LARGE logical flaw in the story that was never there before. I was thrilled with the re-cut until I saw that... and it ruined the whole movie, which was otherwise very good.
  17. Well, I like the Jabba scene and I think it works other than what I mentioned above. It was a deleted scene and I always wanted to see it. As for the Biggs scenes, I want to see them in good quality. But I'll try those links. I've never been good with downloading large files because broadband internet is not available where I live (yet it is available a few houses down the road... Rrrr). It sucks, but I have to live with it.
  18. How long have you got, Chris? We have them in English (sort of). If you were to translate the following well-known phrases into Latin you would use either a iussive subjunctive or the similar hortatory subjunctive ('subjunctive' refers to the mood of the verb, to give it its technical term): Lest we forget. May the force be with you. Let it be. Heaven help us! The word 'iussive' itself comes from the Latin verb 'iubere' meaning 'to order'. The following explanation may help. Thank you! It's not often that we stop bashing opposing opinions and actually learn things on message boards! BTW, when did this topic become a Star Trek fest? Borg? That was my dead 22 lb. cat! Chris, Who plans to watch EotS sometime soon... great for her, it is the only R1 DVD that I have with Thai subtitles!
  19. Joe watched G.I. Joe?! Awesome! Did you know that they also made those PSAs for Transformers? They never aired them, but they were extras on the Rhino R1 DVD sets.
  20. After getting the remastered Rocky and Rocky IV, I then made myself a new "Best of Rocky 1-5" compilation for my brother and myself, and I made some DVD-extracts of the opening and closing fight scenes of 5 (which are unavailable anywhere) to put on it. DAMN... that is some of Conti's best work! Why it wasn't released (in favor of that panfully dated 90s rap) just a pathetic shame! 1 CD containing unreleased music from 1-6 may work... but will that ever happen? Probably not.
  21. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha why do I laugh, because of the previous comment by ccc How rude, JIAR. That scene was filmed in 1976-77, which dated it to your beloved masterpiece. They didn't have time, money, or resources to make Jabba the monsterous-looking alien that Lucas originally wanted, so he had to cut it. Putting it back is essential to the integrity of the original storyline, IMO. I have long said that just barely mentioning Jabba in SW and ESB means that he sneaks up out of nowhere (to the casual watchers, at least) in ROTJ, and most wonder, "WTF is that and why does he have Han?!" Granted, the CGI could be better (TPM's Jabba for example), I don't care for Han stepping on his tail, and I could have lived without Boba staring at the screen (Fett walking by is good enough, the staring is just too fan-boyish). But the scene itself is essential, and the 1977-95 edits seem naked without it, IMO. I also BADLY want to see the cut Luke/Biggs/friends on Tatooine scenes. I've read about and seen pictures of those scenes (The 1977 "Story of Star wars" picture book for one, the 1977 novelization for another, and the 1977 Marvel comic book adaptation for yet another) for 30 years. I remember being very disappointed that the 1997 version did not re-insert them. Jabba-like laugh all you want, but worshipping the 1977 edit of a movie and whining, bitching, and complaining that the 1981-2004 edits are crapping on your beloved masterpiece is more laughable in my mind. It is the same movie!
  22. That's pretty much spot-on. Agreed. The Fury is tied for my favorite score, along with Empire Strikes Back and Revenge of the Sith. I love all three of those scores to absolutely no end.
  23. If anyone is interested, the lyrics heard in the Saying the Rosary cue in Sleepers are taken from the traditional Latin mass when the priest distributes holy communion: animam tuam in vitam aeternam corpus domini nostri Iesu Christi (custodiat) This translates as "May the body of our Lord Jesus Christ watch over your soul unto eternal life." The choir does not sing the word 'custodiat', as far as I can make out. I guess Williams does not care much for iussive subjunctives, and who can blame him? As for the Gloria from Monsignor, the lyrics are the first line of the Gloria (no shit!), also from the Latin mass: gloria in excelsis deo et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis. This translates as "Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men of good will." I hope this does not count as religious discussion. Please don't ban me, Mark! I couldn't live with the shame! Dammit! That's it! We need to ban John Williams lyrics themselves from JWFAN! (<--- This means I am kidding, for those who didn't know.) BTW, what is an iussive subjunctive? Never heard of the term.
  24. I dunno... a close call... but does this make Stefan a hypocrite? Also, is he the famous Kansas City Worldskipper, Conrad? Red Rabbit: Do listen to reason... I beg of you! Stefan is evil! Think about it... has ever his humor ever been free from rudeness and/or crudeness? A sign of evil-ness, I believe! Neil: But I personally don't mind the 2004 transfers. They look different from the orginals, but not 100% better or 100% worse. That's a taste issue. Sure, the color is obviously sweetened in parts, but at least they are crisp and clean. In comparison, the originals are grainy and have far more visable flaws and artifacts in comparison, so each has strengths and weaknesses. I don't hate any edit of a Star Wars movie - theatrical or re-edited, and I can personally pick strengths and weaknesses from each edition. So, I'd have to see them for myself before I can rate them as garbage or not. I still find it hard to believe that it has put you in a hell for 10 years... rather I believe you guys are trolling for arguments. Right? Agreed 100%. I've been saying things like that on this board for years. Everybody has an opinion, why bash?
