Guest
I just watched "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" on VHS and listened to the CD afterwards. I can't clearly distinguish the several themes. The one in the minor mode with a religious tendency seems to be related to the Holy Grail etc. And then there is one in a major mode (a fourth and a third upwards, two thirds downwards) which can fit the father as well as the Grail Knight. But what is it anyway? Then there is something like a motif which consists of three and five notes in a downward direction. Could this also be the father's one? What do you think?ulrich_wuenschel@web.de
Dole 17
These are the themes in Last Crusade as far as I know:1. Cross of Coronado theme: spanish sounding music in "Indy's 1st Adventure."2. Henry's Theme(father/son theme): theme predominent in "Keeping up with the Joneses" and is also heard at the beginning of "Canyon of the Moon" and "Finale" (when Henry tells Indy to "let it go")3. Grail Theme: Heard in "The Penitent Man Will Pass"4. Knight/Crusaders Theme: Heard in "End Credits" "Ah Rats" and "Keeper of the Grail"5. Nazi Theme: heard in "Brother of the Cruciform Sword" 6. Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra-used throughout movie for father/son antics/misadventures
Guest
To those themes I would add Indy's first adventure motif, the catacombs motif and the motif from escape from Venice.
UCFKevin 0
Can it be said that the Last Crusade has the most NEW themes ever done by Williams for one score? It sure seems like it.

Maybe more than Hook.if you include themes that were included in previous SW movies.NEW themes for TPM:Jar Jar's themeDuel of the FatesAnakin's themeDarth mauls 8 note motif(Recurs 3 times)Gui Gon's themeShmi's theme."War" motif(First heard in The Senate on the U.E.)Trade Federation March. It's quit a bit,but Hook still had 20 or so new themes, which were theraly analised on previous MB's and this website, and I would need my c.d's to re-make the list, which I don't right now.K.M. King Mark 3,632
Well, there has a strong longing debate here whether "thematic material"used once in the movie(like The Flag Parade),were considerd as "themes" or lietmotivs. The consensus was that only themes used more than once were elligeable....K.m. Well, rather a leitmotif theme.
Rogue_Leader 2
Yeah JW certainly put alot of stuff into W: TPM. If ya didn't like the score ya cannot blame it on lack of themes.
