FILM: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

It would literally have taken one extra line in that scene to remove that ambiguity.

Exactly! Just like it would have taken one line in GOF to explain why Harry's and Voldemort's wands did what they did in the graveyard (and why his parents came out), one line in OOTP to explain that it was Umbridge who sent the Dementors after Harry and Dudley in the beginning, etc

Frustrating to no end

there is the line in GOF but it's said so quickly and out of context that is goes unnoticed. We readers know but it would have given the films a bit extra.

except for DH2, the other films never quite took the evil characters to the level of malevolance they needed.

The movies state one of the Hallows was an invisibility cloak, but never specifies that it's the one Potter got in the first film.

Also, in HBP we see the Elder wand in Dumbledore's desk a the end of the film, and in the next one it's in his tombe.

It's possible that when Harry finds the Elder Wand in Dumbledore's desk at the end of HBP, that moment takes place before the burial, since Dumbledore's funeral is not shown at either the end of HBP or the beginning of DH1. It's the only explanation, since it is buried with him in the book.

Another thing. Harry's wand is broken in DH Part 1, forcing him to use loaner wands until he disarms Draco, after which he uses Draco's wand for DH Part 2. The ending tries to show Harry taking the moral high road of destroying the Elder Wand, but this is pointless. He's really supposed to use it to fix his wand, and then return it to Dumbledore's tomb. The movie ends with us believing that Harry will just use Draco's wand forever, or buy a new one, or just not care.

In the book, however, we're left to believe the Elder Wand will lie dormant, no stronger than any other wand.

The films are called "...and the Deathly Hallows..." because they're based on that book. That's it. The filmmakers' decision to reduce the emphasis of the Hallows in the films did not give them the ability to change the titles of the movies.

Besides, Harry used his Cloak once in DH Part 2, to carry Griphook into Gringotts past the guard, or he would not have been able to Imperious the manager to let them pass. After that, its only other main use would have been for Harry to hide after Hagrid brought his lifeless body back to the castle, but the filmmakers just had to turn the final moments into another extended battle sequence.

The importance of the Resurrection Stone in the film is exactly the same as that in the book: his acceptance of his own death allows the snitch to open, he talks to the ghosts of his family, and he walks to meet Voldemort alone physically, but with the knowledge they're with him in spirit.

Both are obvious, right? You also have thought of it by yourself. But I agree it would be nice if there would be a short flashback to the firs movie, the scene where he put on the cloak for the first time.

As to the elder wand, it is clear that they just found the wand, brought it back to his office and later decided to bury it with him.

I just wondered. What blood did Ginny use to write on the wall?

It's chicken blood. Hagrid mentions something (Ginny) killing the chickens in a deleted scene. That's why he holds a dead chicken in his hand when he burst into Dumbledore's office. :P
