Today 50 years ago ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest with Waterloo. And, believe it or not, Belgium gave exactly zero points, even though the song is about a Belgian town .
-
For now, it has only 39 reviews, so that number will go down. And 109 minutes running time ... How refreshing! I can watch this one in one go.

Funny, I always called him Curt and he never complained.

So today it has been 30 years ago since Curt 'Nirvana' Cobain died?! 30 years ago?!!

The ALIEN FRANCHISE Appreciation thread.

It's not so random as people might think. "Extended cut" might imply a longer version but it's shorter. -
Yes, it was but it was simultaneously released in theaters and on HBO Max, so that could explain why it was a flop ... and why they plan a fifth movie. It's content!

Funny enough, the DC is one minute shorter than the original release (which is the only true DC). -

Nobody can escape from Star Wars.

I would agree with this if we were talking about music but movies are generally not as ambiguous as music or abstract paintings.

I didn't expect it but I managed to finish the pilot ... and I'm not even a gamer.

Watched the first hour of Oppenheimer and sadly it's another typical Nolan movie where the story is told at a speedy MTV pace. There's no mood, atmosphere, or anything else that could potentially pull me in. It's all about telling a story and keeping those with a short attention span interested.

Dream Scenario (2023) Sometimes you need to see a Nicolas Cage co-produced by Ari Aster movie. 7/10

First 4 eppies of TWD: The Ones Who Live I'm pretty sure that Andrew Lincoln's main condition before returning to the Walking Dead universe was 'better writers' and a 'bigger budget'. And after 4 episodes, I can safely say that it seems that he got what he wanted. I'm just guessing of course. PS: There is still too much filler though, like with characters telling stories to each other and such.

One thing is certain, Chen 'The Glass Is Half Empty' G. will tell us box office mojo is wrong and wikipedia is right. -

Strange, box-office mojo says it made $58 million during its initial run. Blade Runner was indeed a flop (both critically in the US and financially worldwide) even though some say it kinda broke even (if you look at it very positively). -

It made 58 million in 1968, which made it that year's second biggest hit. You and Chen: "What a flop!" -

Sigh ... again, how is being the second biggest hit of 1968 not a success? See, when it comes to 2001: ASO, Chen will always try to find a way to look at it negatively. The glass is always half empty. Strange that you never noticed this. https://www.bookforum.com/print/2502/how-stanley-kubrick-and-arthur-c-clarke-reinvented-the-sci-fi-film-19687#:~:text=STANLEY KUBRICK'S 2001%3A A Space,highest-grossing film of 1968. -

Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for pointing that out to me. All kidding aside, the reason why I wrote "haters will be haters" is because Chen always expresses himself negatively when it comes to 2001: ASO. And now he thinks because 2001 wasn't a huge succes from the get-go that is wasn't a successful movie. And when you point out that is was the second biggest hit of the year, it still wasn't a success (to him) because it was an expensive movie. That doesn't make any sense, but what can I say, haters will be haters.
