I had an idea fora good theme for a CD - John Williams: Marches and Fanfares. He is a master at both large and small compositions, and I think his marches from various movies are superb musical gems in their own right. And his fanfares and Olympic themes are unbeatable. I think maybe I'll make my own CD using music downloaded from emusic, etc. Does anyone have any ideas for tracks to be included? Here's my list so far:

Marches: Raiders March; 1941 March; Midway March; Imperial March from Star Wars; Superman March.

Fanfares: Liberty Fanfare; Olympic Spirit; Olympic Fanfare and Theme; Summon the Heroes.

I know there's more, but I can't think of any right now.

I would say that the march rendition of the force theme on "The Throne Room" would be a must. One of the best renditions of one of the best movie themes ever. And an excellent march as well.

Call of the Champions (2002 Winter Olympics Theme)

Celebrate Discovery

Sound the Bells

A Hymn to New England

Jubilee 350 (for Boston's 350th birthday)

I Love a Parade

The Mission (theme for NBC News)

and then there's his arrangement of the US National Anthem

from films:

The Slave Children's Crusade

The Flag Parade

Theme from Hook (the ~1:40 piece that was composed for the trailer)

the concert version of the Theme from Born on the Fourth of July (starts with trumpet solo and then "segues" into the end credits)

Prologue from JFK

The last two (and Hymn to New England, for that matter) aren't marches or "traditional" fanfares, but might be nice to include as a change of pace.

Yes, there is, though it is only stated completely in one track: "Journey to the Island". One can hear it immediately after the rendition of the "Jurassic Park Theme".

Jack Chapple made a really great orchestral mock-up of it a couple years ago, but I have no idea if it's still around.

I made a march CD for my nephew to include some other composers as well.

It became a bit mind numbing halfway thru the CD.

Thanks, Guys. Great suggestions. King Mark, are those pieces on your list available? I never heard them before.
