Charlie Brigden 7 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Tweet from UK cinema chain Cineworld:@cineworld: Universal are re-releasing Jaws 16th June in support of a Blu-Ray release, sites tbc.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Oh GOD I hope this happens here!
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 And here too.I wish we were getting the Steelbook release.
scallenger 665 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I bet it's only going to be in the UK again, grr. Oh well, I'm still stoked at least Jurassic Park is getting re-released next year in the States (even though it's in 3D). Perhaps the same thing will happen with Jaws... although for some reason I can't see a 3D Jaws working very well (well, unless it was Jaws 3D itself hahaha).
Maurizio 6,913 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Let's hope so it will be shown here in Italy as well! The restored print will be shown at the Cannes Film Festival, btw: http://www.festival-cannes.fr/en/article/58952.html
crocodile 9,724 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 It might be UK only, like they did last year with Jurassic Park.Karol
Maurizio 6,913 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I too think it could be a local thing. For example, the Italian branch of Universal Pictures is gonna show the restored The Blues Brothers in selected theaters here next June, as a tie-in with the Blu-ray release. It will be a one-week only window, but it's nice. They did the same with Back to the Future a couple of years ago. Let's hope they'll do the same with Jaws and E.T.
Quintus 6,499 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Martin, it's all psychological. You yell Deep Blue Sea re-release, everybody says, "Huh? What?" You yell JAWS back in theaters, we've got a panic on our hands on the Fourth of July.
Naïve Old Fart 13,026 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 "Jaws" is really a miracle of evolution. All it does is play, and scare, and make lots of money, and that's it.Is anyone eating this?
