Five-time Oscar-winner John Williams is to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Classic Brit awards in October.
The Hollywood composer has written scores for films including Jaws, Star Wars, Superman, Schindler's List and War Horse.
With 47 Academy Award nominations, Williams is the second most nominated person after Walt Disney.
Andrea Bocelli and Nicola Benedetti will perform at the event in London.
Nominations will be announced on 6 September at the Savoy hotel while the award ceremony will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on 2 October.
Myleene Klass will host the event which will be broadcast on ITV1.

Wow, 3 misspelled words in the title, a new record even for you!

Cool news though, and I love that picture they used for the article :)

He was too eager to be the first one to post it :)

Anyway, nice gesture, it was even mentioned on Dutch classical radio.

But when will he get his life time achievement Oscar?

Cool! Glad to see JW is getting recognition from a group that sounds like it used to be fairly elitist.
Recently Purchased CDs:
1. Nightwatch/Killer By Night - Johnny Williams and Quincy Jones 2. Diamond Head/Gone with the Wave - Johnny Williams/Lalo Schifrin 3. Mass - Leonard Bernstein 4. Bernstein with the New York Philharmonic - Leonard Bernstein
