  1. Spider-Man was very good, Spider-Man 2 was . . . just bad. It tried too hard to be something it wasn't. I found that stupid "What else can go wrong for Peter?" slapstick attitude to be getting old really fast. Over the past month and a half, I saw these in the theater: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Upon my fourth viewing, I loved it and its score as much as the first time. Had a helluva time getting a parking space, though, almost made us miss it. A- Date Movie Basically what you'd expect from a parody movie. Stupid humor, but enjoyable if you like that kind of thing. B- 16 Blocks A good real-time thriller. I don't remember much about it except that I liked it, because it was like a month ago. B+ V For Vendetta Very enjoyable. Incredibly blatent political statements, but thrilling and moving nonetheless. I liked the framing of the camera, with a lot subject-in-the-center-of-the-picture shots. Natalie was delightful (although you'd think if they wanted an English Natalie, they could just use Kiera ). A- Inside Man Another good one. I liked almost everything about this movie, except that its score, though fitting at times, was often intrusive (the tribal chants=?). Denzel, Clive, and Julianne were all very good (she's great at playing the bitchy businesswoman). The film kept you guessing constantly, and although there are about five too many "closure" scenes, the end makes you think for a minute. I actually had to see it twice to figure out what had happened. A- Each Saturday, I've been watching a different Bond movie. Since I last posted, I saw: -You Only Live Twice -On Her Majesty's Secret Service -Diamonds Are Forever -Live And Let Die -The Man With The Golden Gun -The Spy Who Loved Me For the most part, they're all very good. I enjoyed them all except OHMSS. Wonder why. I love JW (ambiguously ) and Jaws, who are both good reccuring characters. Well, IMO it's been a good haul for spring movies so far. ~Sturgis, who's looking forward to seeing The Sentinel and Scary Movie 4, among others
  2. Well, I had to see what it was this year. I guess this site will be shut down soon, what with this terrible incident. ~Sturgis
  3. Eight days ago: Big Momma's House 2 C Firewall I absolutely loved this movie. It was just a perfect thriller. It's only 1 hour 45 minutes long, but it flows excellently. It had many really intense and thrilling scenes: when the boy couldn't breathe after Cox gave him those cookies, ~Sturgis, who couldn't help but notice that the youngest people in the theater after he and his friend were early 20's :?
  4. Neil was a really important member on JWFan. Yeah, we'd like him back, although we respect his decision. ~Sturgis
  5. E.T. ~Sturgis, who realized when seeing that most of these are classic films and all basically equally great, that Spielberg is the freakin' master!
  6. Great idea! I would LOVE a copy! ~Sturgis
  7. I thought you were indicating that someone named Stan was going to be banned, and I looked for that person who had said something bad, then I realized what you meant. LOL ~Sturgis, who voted for Stan as well
  8. The HP films: SS: not very good CoS: dreadfull PoA: excellent GoF: pretty good ~Sturgis
  9. Exactly true. The veil, and Luna's mysterious comments = ~Sturgis, who finds the last third or so of OotP to be f-in' amazing, and who's very glad to have this, our longest thread, back
  10. Just so ya know (if you didn't already) . . . the first track features the "Children's Theme" and the second features that as well as the first appearance of the "Narnia Theme." So it's not just mindless nothingness, if that would entice you at all. But if you really find them uninteresting, well then, you're just a big poo-poo head! ~Sturgis
  11. Sleepers . . . hey, it sounds like it might put me to sleep. ~Sturgis
  12. My mom has borrowed Ray Barnsbury's copy of HBP to read; she's enjoying it. ~Sturgis
  13. You're Danny Elfman! No one ever thought you'd come as far as you have (or are going to). You have a reputation for being quirky, even weird, but you've proven time and again that you also have the brains and the sensitivity to get through pretty much anything. You've also got a great sense of humor. Snobs dislike you for making it look so easy; everyone else thinks you're cool. That's quite true (except perhaps for a lot of people thinking I'm cool). You've scored such films as Batman, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Black Beauty, Dolores Claiborne, Men in Black, Good Will Hunting, and Spider-Man. You also wrote the theme from The Simpsons. That's definately not ture of me. ~Sturgis
  14. Probably because it has eight themes which interweave beautifully and develop all throughout the score. It's a really fun score with a strong emotional core, and it does anything but meander, as you claimed. At least you gave it a listen outside of the film before claiming it "sucks." Oh wait. ~Sturgis, surprised at how many people listed very few scores to be as good as Williams
  15. Williams will be remembered for either Back to the Future or The Legend of Zelda. ~Sturgis
  16. I think Last Crusade is the funniest of the trilogy. ~Sturgis
  17. This seems the most appropriate thread to post this in: A year ago, during Super Bowl 39, we saw the first teaser for WotW. ~Sturgis, who realized that today
  18. Luke, where is Munich? ~Sturgis - Sturgis 2 - Nobody say "Germany!"
  19. PoA actually beats it in both of those categories. There are at least three new themes in PoA. There are only two in RotS, and one of them sounds a heck of a lot like Cinque's Theme. And if you want to hear complexity, listen to "The Whomping Willow." Here there are none of Williams' cliche "auto-pilot" interjections with flute and xylophone. And, oh yes, they returned for RotS. See ya, Sith! (That's what Obi-Wan said!) ~Sturgis
  20. Thunderball Very good, but I liked Goldfinger a little better. Good score, and I enjoyed the return of what I think is the Spectre Theme, which I first heard in From Russia With Love. I don't really understand the significance of the title. I can't think what it means. I think they explained it, but I didn't get it. :? ~Sturgis
  21. RotS must go without a doubt. It's good to see that the two best JW scores of the 21 Century are also in the final three, though. 8O ~Sturgis
  22. "Barry's Kidnapping" was pretty scary to a 14 year old back in January. ~Sturgis -
  23. Geisha without a doubt. Then Sith without a doubt. Then there are many doubts. :? ~Sturgis
