  1. I wanted to use a organ transcript of Throne Room for the bride entrance... I and my brother even talked about someone to do the arrangement -- only problem was to find someone able to play it. It ends up, with the traditional Mendelsohn Wedding march, since it was Carla's favorite... But my revenge came during the reception... I got four tapes made up of only Williams compositions, or Williams performances...
  2. I was forbiden to have cofee  -- but didn't stoped me from having one a day And, yes, I'm ahuge Copland fan... Not only is more famous, acessible stuff (the ballets, 3rd Symphony...)
  3. When I'm blue I always listen to Coplnad's Clarinet Concerto. The first section is slow and somewaht sad, but then it gets very jazzy and I always end smilling. I guess, waht I want to say is that the best thing to do is ang on the things you love to do. It works with me... I hope things get better. If I can be of any help, please don't hesitate to ask... After all, what are friends for?
  4. I liked the mayor... he is so pathetic... It remind me a local politician I hate this small town politicians who think they know it all! But other than that your right... and I also prefer your own Halloween mayor
  5. Well I've met a couple of well known persons (at least in Portugal): 1. The wife of a former Portuguese president (she is the Portuguese Red Cross president) -- she was at the hopening of an art exhibition were I had some of my paintings and we had a short chat (the usual stuff: Your paintings are very interesting, bla, bla, bla...); 2. A old TV presenter, who was responsible for the only tv show about comics and animations ever to exist in Portugal -- a great old guy, currently with nearly 80 years old; 3. And I'm friend of a well known Portuguese tv journalist -- our wifes are coleagues and close friends 4. Portuguese well known writer (even considered for a Nobel prize), António Lobo Antunes -- a very nice and warm person, who even very tired takes the time to answer stupid questions... now for international celebrities: 1. Morris, the late creator of comics cowboy Lucky Luke -- I asked for a drawing, but he was in a hurry and only signed me a comic book ; 2. Dave McKean -- also a comic book drawer 3. there are many other copmic books authors I've met, but don't remember them all -- many of them were from Spain; 4. Niko McBrain, drummer from Heavy Metal band Iron Maiden, a very nice gentleman (I went to a workshop of his with my brother); 5. Billy Shehan (I think it writes this way), bassist for Mr. Big, wonderful guy; 6. Steve Harris, also from Iron Maiden, bass player; 7. Steve Vai, electric guitar virtuoso; 8. Jennifer Batten, guitar player for Michael Jackson, and got an autograph too Most of this hard rock/heavy metal musicians I met through my brother, who besides being a acomplished classic guitar player, also plays the electric bass on rock bands and studio orchestras
  6. Predictable, yes... but trash... That's hard! Of course the original is a great moment of film making, and the sequel can't match it in any possible way --- well maybe in some parts of Williams score. Even so I find the film to be entertaining... and average kind of movie. I could add, that in the Bart Simpson scale, were 0 being the lowest, and 10 the highest, I give this film a... (drum roll here) 5!
  7. Your right, the film is ok. In fact it was a good surprise, since i was afraid it would be a horrible sequel.
  8. Then Amazon and other on-line stores must be breaking the law when they make available small samples of the tracks on the cd's!
  9. Yes, this is an extra on Jaws 2 DVD. Williams interview comes separately from the "making of..." documentary. Is 7 minute long, and it's great! I got the dvd only because of this.
  10. Not only on the US... Same thing here. And beginning this year, the Portuguese rulers (those F***** SOB's) decided to cut on arts classes (be it fine arts, like in my case, or music or anything else...)
  11. I remeber seing it listed somewhere else... just don't know were anymore And by the way, who have the first recording of Olympic Fanfare and Theme, recorded by Williams with a LA Studio Orchestra, and release in lp and tape in 1984 by CBS Records. I have a lp-to-cd-r transfer, but I don't find this to be the best recording of the piece.
  12. Yes, the Yes Giorgio cd is a legit release by Decca Records Germany. I believe it was release in the late 80's.
  13. First things first, Thank You! Now, I must say that you're very wrong! I'm ateacher on the Portuguese Public School System, and I must say that it stinks! Well, maybe a few schools are good... And tere are some great teachers working and some good ideas regarding the whole system, but since this ends up being run by politicians who know nothing about teaching... Just let say, that usually, things go from bad to worst! And let me finish by saying that I'm not a great teacher, or even a good one. Just the average kind of Arts teacher... but my wife Carla... She's a Super Teacher
  14. ... and I also have Tom Sawyer lp... Chris, you have many more rare stuff than I have. I must say that most of the rare cd's I have, are in fact cd-r's (unless otherwise noted, like the ones above). I specially envy those who, since they live in the U.S., have less trouble finding old Williams lp's.
  15. That are very nice words... Thank you very much! I try to do the right thing, just that. I hope I can make happy Carla (my wife) and my friends. I'm close to them and they are my family. My dearest friend is my brother -- along with Carla, he's my life -- but all others are so important to me... And if I can be of help to them, then I'm happy. Over the years I've been very lucky -- even today, has I've had some troubles with my car -- and I try to share that with others. Just the other day when I met Merkel, I was happy to get his copies of the Hook bootlegs that he was looking for -- What I got from that? He was happy, and that's good enought for me. I'm not a religious person or anyhting like that, so I really don't believe that if we are good persons, then life smiles at us... Sicelrely, I just think that some people are vey lucky. My brother is just like me, but he haven't the same luck I have, be it on life, love or work. Things are just the way they are. Bottom line, and I hope that anyhting of this makes sense, I try to be happy with what I have and try to make others happy in the process.
  16. You forgot my favorite, Brosnan. After him is the great Sean Connery. I must say I hate both Moore's and Lazemby's Bonds.
  17. I know, I'm a bad example... What can I say, I'm happy this way
  18. To my knoledge the Fiddler music was recorded in London, but with a studio orchestra. My guess is that they used the LSO only for the song. Williams did spent most of that ear working in England on Fiddler, and on a break from this one, on the beuatiful Jane Eyre, also recorded in England, with a studio orchestra. On that same year, Williams long time close friend, composer-conductor-pianist André Previn, at the time music director of the LSO, conducted the European premierre of Williams' Symphony.
  19. Guess we got lucky  Most of my friends had some bad experiences. My brother is one of those people who seems to be unable to make a relashionship last more then six months... and he really cares about their old girlfriends. There are people that are just unlucky...
  20. Am I dreaming, or Star Wars happened "A Long Time Ago..."
  21. Congratulations! 8O The best thing that happened to me was meeting my lovely wife Carla. Being with her has made my life really meaningfull -- that, and Mr. Williams music
  22. ... and the Original Release of ET! This was my second cd (the first I got a few days earlier, when I got my first cd player, and wanted to try it out... and was Platoon soundtrack, just because of Barber's Adagio). The original E.T. album is one of my all time favorites. I came back to it, when I really want to hear E.T.'s music. It's rare to listen to the two expanded releases, or the 2 cd complete boot, or even a new one I recently got, that runs through three cd's (yes, you read it right, 3 cd's). And how could I forgot one of the most generous gifts I ever had... a Picture LP of E.T. still sealed (Eric, I Love You).
  23. The Pops Britannia disc was released in lp and cd in 1988. I got it in 1990, and never saw it again -- not even on the internet. I also have Indy 2, the german release, and got at mid price also around 1990. I recently saw the Japanese release on a local store, and was priced with a regular price, not too expensive.
  24. Accidental Tourist (pressed cd) Jurassic Park (picture cd) 1941 (bootleg from Laser Disc -- pressed cd) Raiders of the Lost Ark (original japanese cd release -- pressed cd) Return of the Jedi (original release -- pressed cd) ... and the complete Williams/Boston Pops dicography (a few ones as cd-r's). From those I should point out: Pops Brittania (includes Jane eyre suite -- pressed cd) Bernstein by Boston (pressed cd) Pops in love (pressed cd and pressed lp) Pops aroud the World: Digital Overtures (pressed cd) ... and so many rare stuff in cd-r. And this is only my Williams related stuff.
