  1. I don't know if this had been poseted before but all the same here's some great laughs to share with: Anyone here familiar of P.D.Q. Bach? Hilarious composer "discovered" by Professor Peter Schickele (with John Williams conducing the Boston Pops)
  2. Brian Tyler talking about this new arrangement: Drums from all around the world: truly "Universal" as Tyler would say...
  3. This the kind of title that would be the target of double entendre jokes...

Heck, with the way film scores are being nominated now, he can win more than just one oscar!

No, not so many. Mainly because his choice of movies wasn't that great as JW's. He scored many mediocre, even bad movies! But then, probably, like John, he will be getting of age, his output will decrease and he will probably become selective of choosing films to score, so maybe the quality will be higher and more oscar-worthy. I think he will now chose to score 1-2 films per year if he was still alive.

If ever Jerry was still alive today, would he now get so many nominations every year? Would he now receive more Oscars now that his fiercest competitors come from the likes of Hans Zimmer, Howard shore, John Powell, Thomas and Randy Newman, even John Williams? That question bugs me every time I think of Jerry Goldsmith.

Why Howard Shore? He already has 3! When compared to John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith, I don't think he's that good! He is still ways ahead from so called composers of film music.

Sadly Jerry only got 17 nominations and only one freaking Oscar. ONE. FREAKING. OSCAR.

Here's what I think should really happen: Howard Shore gets the Oscar while Johnny gets the Honorary Oscar. Sounds perfect?
  10. RALPH MCQUARRIE REMEMBERED March 03, 2012 "I am deeply saddened by the passing of such a visionary artist and such a humble man. Ralph McQuarrie was the first person I hired to help me envision Star Wars. His genial contribution, in the form of unequaled production paintings, propelled and inspired all of the cast and crew of the original Star Wars trilogy. When words could not convey my ideas, I could always point to one of Ralph's fabulous illustrations and say, 'Do it like this.' "Beyond the movies, his artwork has inspired at least two generations of younger artists—all of whom learned through Ralph that movies are designed. Like me, they were thrilled by his keen eye and creative imagination, which always brought concepts to their most ideal plateau. In many ways, he was a generous father to a conceptual art revolution that was born of his artwork, and which seized the imaginations of thousands and propelled them into the film industry. In that way, we will all be benefiting from his oeuvre for generations to come. Beyond that, I will always remember him as a kind and patient, and wonderfully talented, friend and collaborator." —George Lucas
  11. John Williams conducting Gershwin's Concerto in F with his good friend Andre Previn as soloist in the piano. I love their banter and sense of humor at the beginning.

Which would be months from now.
  13. One could say some of his non - LOTR works are kind of minimalistic.
  14. My favorite late night theme back when Conan wasn't been screwed and he was the golden boy of late night.

Don't forget, Hans Zimmer might come up something that might be actually be a strong contender...
  16. In all honesty, this is the second memorable score I remembered from HS outside of the LOT trilogy score. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9ZbOvymXhc
