  1. I am personally quite happy with Alan Silvestri's work, especially The Mummy Returns. I even like Van Helsing. From the films mentioned above I would like John Williams to rescore The Mummy Returns. It is my favourite Alan Silvestri score, but I just love these kinds of films and I would love what John Williams would've come up with.
  2. Titanic by John Williams would probably have made for quite some seaworthy music and I just happen to be a sucker for seaworthy music. And for other seaworthy things called "ships" as well, of course.
  3. I reckon Cerrabore will finish his version eventually. In the meantime I have made several special edition-like Star Wars prequel versions myself. I have made a Phantom Menace 2-disc special edition based on GoodMusician's complete edition. It isn't perfect, but I reckon it's reasonably good. Some edits could be better; I'll try to work on that eventually. I also made a special edition for Star Wars Episode III based on several extended editions I have found. It doesn't have much SFX and I think it's pretty good, but there are some changes I want to make now that GoodMusician released his complete version. And today I made an extended Star Wars II version according to the editing instructions in this thread and with the help of King Mark's work. The only track with SFX I added is Shmi's Funeral; otherwise it is SFX-free. If anybody is interested in any of this, just say so.
  4. Any enjoyable pirate/ocean film that he didn't score yet. Preferably Pirates of the Caribbean. I really think John Williams needs to score an all-out pirate/nautical film.
  5. Did anyone check out the OotP clips seen here? Although I have the feeling the quality of the Harry Potter films is a bit dropping, this actually doesn't look all that bad.
  6. Of course. But it seemed to me as if the makers of the Peter Pan film actually actively tried to make their film a prequel to Hook. So that you could watch both with Hook as an actual sequel.
  7. I didn't really miss anything on the previous King Solomon's Mines release; I found it very enjoyable. Still an improved version would be... welll... an improvement. 8O Quigley Down Under and Lonesome Dove are western scores by Basil Poledouris? Nice. I don't have many western scores, nor much Poledouris, but I like both western scores and Poledouris. I should get these scores.
  8. I personally quite like James Newton Howard's action music. It always works very well in the film. One of the best examples is, I think, The Final Three from Hidalgo. You already know who is going to win the race and it wouldn't be exciting at all if it weren't for the music which makes it a very exciting scene as far as I'm concerned.
  9. I found Peter Pan almost like a prequel to Hook. It was an enjoyable film, but nothing really impressive. The score was nice enough and I think I heard some Hookish influences every now and then. Hook is a pretty nice film with an absolutely amazing score.
  10. Personally I would welcome any Episode II version that contains the music that DID leak out along with a couple of DVD rips of the most important scenes.
  11. Do I really post that often in MV related threads? That's not good. I have no real interest in MV music, except for a bit of interest in PotC. My main interest goes to full orchestral scores, preferrably composed by John Williams and other truly great composers. Apparently I should pay a bit more attention to what threads I post in.
  12. I am officially confused here. I have no interest in bland modern underscore. It's just PotC 1 I like. At one point in the past I liked it a lot, but my opinion on this score has been put firmly into perspective as soon as I heard Cutthroat Island. PotC is OK-ish in an enjoyable kind of way, but nothing really more than that. I highly prefer proper orchestral scores, though I still like the first PotC score, for which you will just have to forgive me.
  13. That's a shame. I still don't have any extended Episode II version and I really do want at least one.
  14. I have once posted a list of a whole bunch of things that are just plain crazy. In general I think they have put a lot of unimportant things into the film and took a lot of important ones. I just had way too many "what the HECK" moments during PoA to consider it the best film. As far as I'm concerned it's John Williams' score that saved the film, which is the single reason why I still consider it a reasonably good film.
  15. I would personally have preferred it if the film was two hours LONGER, but that's just me. As far as I'm concerned, it wasn't too long at all, although I do understand why other people would consider it too long.
  16. As far as I'm concerned: PoA looks very good and the music is amazing, but story-wise it's entirely messed up.
  17. The first PotC was one of the best films I have seen in recent times and I like it a lot. I like just about everything about the first PotC, even the score, though I admit the music isn't the best. DMC is a worthy sequel as far as I'm concerned. Not at all as brilliant as the first film, but a pretty good sequel nonetheless. I'm very much looking forward to part 3.
  18. He does tend to use a lot of choir, even when it isn't really required for the scene in the film. It does always sound great, though.
  19. He's cool as far as I'm concerned. He wrote Cutthroat Island for crying out loud! How can anyone write Cutthroat Island and not be cool? Also I consider being a "nice guy" one of the main reasons for a person to be cool. As far as I'm concerned people who are not nice guys (or gals) can never be cool.
  20. I could upload the file when I have the time, but at the moment I don't have much time at all. If Damo wants me to upload the file, I'll do so as soon as I can find some time to do it.
  21. Personally I don't consider "pop stars" cool at all. My idea of cool is not "driving a nice car" or "getting angry quickly" or "being a pain to work with". I personally find it truly cool if a person is humble, kind, talented, well-spoken, intelligent, etc. John Williams is all of that, therefore he is seriously very cool indeed in my book. Or "sub-zero" as is the apparent term for that in this thread. I seem to be too late to actually vote here, but my vote would've gone for "sub-zero" beyond any doubt. As far as I am concerned, John Williams is about the coolest film music composer that I've ever heard of. And that is actually because of the reasons mentioned above why he would not be cool.
  22. Yes, it does. I have seen that same issue before and it does cause trouble for some people. I have the luck that I can open it, even though it is weird, but it might explain why some other people have trouble with it.
  23. I did manage to open the file with WinZip, but I did find that it was zipped weirdly. It included a lot of small files in some sort of MAC_OS subfolder. Way weird. :?
