Is this thread intended to be ironic or something? Hopefully it is. Coz its pretty laughable if it isn't. Isn't this forum about celebrating the work of Williams and his peers? Threads like this should be in birthsmarriagesandeaths.com for christ sake!

Williams Olympics Work. Which Is Your favourite?
Quintus replied to Quintus's topic in General Discussion
It certainly has a great theme, but I prefered the concert version he played live at the opening. It trims out all the less thematic stuff and would work better on my Ipod. I have his performance at the Atlanta opening ceremony on vhs actually. -
Williams could re-score Titanic from a dementia nursing home, whilst being spoon fed and it would still impress. I heard he thought up the March Of The Villains whilst in the shower.

I've recently got hold of all his Olympic stuff and I must say that of all his work in this area, I absolutely adore his "The Olympic Spirit" track. Its a superbly rousing piece which seems to sing everything that the Olympics is about. But then what did I expect from Williams - he always nails the emotive feeling of his inspiration. This particular track has been hammered to death by me recently and I still haven't tired of it. I just can't believe I've only just discovered it after all these years. What a hidden gem its turned out to be. its a shame its not more well known, but I guess you could say that about a lot of Williams less famous works. So whats your favourite Williams Olympic track?

Don't wanna open a whole new can of worms here, but did you guys know that its not just BFME 2 that has a substantial amount of unreleased music on it? The original game had more than a fair share too, just not the entire Ride Of The Rohirrim cue. I remember hearing stuff on there from TTT and ROTK which has never been released. I still have BFME installed on my pc. Maybe I could upload the music file if anyone wants it.

Glad you like it , but if you have downloaded the demo you will understand that the music in this sequence doesn't actually play out that way on demo. I had to edit the transition you speak of together myself, along with the rest. I've not done such a bad job have I? In all, I had to piece together 4 pieces of the jigsaw, using Nero and touching up slightly with windows movie maker, of all things. This is why the extention says its a wma - When I attempted to convert the finished work back to mp3 with Nero, I got a silly microsoft copywrite notice! Anyway, I'm glad that this has sparked interest in you guys and it seems we may have more edits coming from people soon. Oh and yeah, I noticed that most of the last hour of music was original EA stuff. But I deleted all that shit But there is certainly as sizable amount of quality unreleased Shore stuff on there too, so go get it! And one last thing, my PM box is slightly inundated with requests at the moment. I think the yousendit download limit may have expired. Can the people who managed to get it, upload and share it themselves? It only takes a minute or so to upload

I've since discovered how to do what I desired and I now have the finished version. Edited into place by me. The music wasn't originally in the correct order you see - after I converted it I had to sort it and merge it all together in the correct order with Nero Audio Editing suite. I think I've done a pretty darn good job for a novice, its quite seamless. Download it here via YouSendIt.com link removed Tell me what you think

I downloaded the demo of the Battle For Middle Earth 2 videogame and I went into the game directory and found a file called 'Music'. I opened the file with media player and forced it to attempt to play it and it worked! Its four and a half hours worth of various music from the trilogy, much of it unreleased and in perfect stereo. I've just spent an hour slowly sliding the time bar along looking for a very particular piece which I (and many other fans) have been after for some time - The Ride Of The Rohirrim, or the Charge of the Rohirrim - the film edit. I found it. Yee Haa! Its has the brooding and pounding version of the "Nature" or "Hope"(?) theme that plays during Theodens speech and then it plays the full orchestra version of the Rohirrim theme as they charge. I LOVE this music and its been sorely missed from the ROTK ost thats been released for a while. I know this stuff will end up on special edition ost, but I can't wait that long, I've waited long enough! I got shivers down my spine when I found and played it. Tremendous it is. Anyway, its not all good. The trouble is this: The file type is something called a "BIG" file. I want to extract that particular moment of music from the whole thing and have it as an mp3, but I know of no program that can do this. I need to be able to convert the whole thing from "BIG" into Mp3 so that I can edit all the other stuff out. Anyone got any ideas? I'd be happy to share the track with anyone who also likes this piece I've just played it about 10 times over 8O ADMIN NOTE: Click HERE to jump to a list the music that can be found in the game

Thats probably just a cardboard cut-out of Williams which they dust off every year for the big nominee's photo I also see Kathleen Kennedy and Tim Burton.

"The Hunt" from The Lost World Jurassic Park CD!!!
Quintus replied to macuser02's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
What? John Williams was sued over is JP theme? I had no idea, please indulge me Also, I've just been doing a google search and found some information about an earlier lawsuit between Williams and and a guy called Les Baxter, who claimed that with the theme of ET, Williams had plagiarised a section of earlier work by Baxter called "The Passions", namely a suite entitled "Joy". Williams came out of it unscathed, but the write-up did point out that there are indeed similarities between the two pieces, but that it was probably just unlucky coincidence on the part of Williams. Any information on this, or even a link to the "Joy" track? I'd like to compare, but an mp3 search has drawn a blank. -
Walmart should stock John Williams "Mr Stretch" dolls.

Its a superb score which I hammered to death when it came out. The action cues are excellent listens, probably Horners best.

According to boxofficemojo.com, the film has made $66,200,000 domestically since its release. Of course that is still a good number, but everyone is comparing it to LOTR:RotK, which is slightly unfair. I don't know how it's doing overseas. Tim Boxoffice Mojo puts its worldwide estimate at $146 million. Not a exactly bad weekend eh? Quite the opposite. Its doing far better over seas than it is domestically. Kong will have legs. Word of mouth will see to that. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=kingkong05.htm
