  1. Oh, wow that is some line up...I'll be in Tulsa around then, but this would be worth the effort to make the trip down there!
  2. Always loved the "Glass Harp" Link
  3. Always liked this one from Tom Arnold in True Lies: "You know what? I'm sick of being in the van. You guys are going to be in the van next time. I've been in the van for 15 years, Harry."
  4. Unf***ingbelievable. I swear if the MPAA or other nanny-organizations ruin this movie by forcing artistic changes or other such nonsense in the name of "protecting the audience", i'm going to be royally pissed off. If you look at the English trailer in the link above, and compare the scene of Indy and Ray being held up by guns with the US version, you see just how stupid the CGI alterations are (I KNEW there was something weird about that particular scene when I watched it the first time, like something not quite gelling right). I mean what the hell is the need for this? It's freakin E.T. and the walkie talkies all over again. If the MPAA feel the need to erase guns that are being pointing at a character, then frankly I am worried about their impact on the integrity of the rest of the film. When will these idiots get it through their heads that we don't need them censoring images to "protect us", ESPECIALLY in a film with a character loved as much as Indiana Jones. I hope this is remedied, and rightfully so there should be an outcry about this whole damned mess. Good on these guys for finding and pointing out this stupidity.
  5. Oh you got to include Arnie on this list - he's the king of these: After just shooting Sharon Stone - "Consider that divorce"
  6. We have to keep in mind that this trailer is being marketed to the masses - show some bang and pizazz and get the people's attention, that's the goal of this thing.
  7. Superb teaser - doesn't give too much away, and gives just a sweet morsel for us to sample. Could have done with the MV beginning, but it does serve as an interesting contrast. May 22nd couldn't get here any sooner!
  8. The one with the Count is comedy Gold Jerry! "When i'm alone I *BEEP* myself" btw - I didn't know the count was Jewish? Oy vey!
  9. Oh god yes - and as an added bonus, I *know* the end product will be quality, because hey - it's Speilberg. Now with the prequels I was equally excited at first, but my enthusiasm became abated with each installment. Which is why I like the fact they aren't giving too much away with KOTCS.
  10. 17. "The Forrest Battle" (Concert Suite) - Return of the Jedi 16. "Slave Children's Crusade" - Temple of Doom
  11. Taking a cue from Fiery Angel's thread on JWfan.net composers and Marcus' EXCELLENT arrangement and performance of a medley of various JW pieces , I thought I would make this thread to exhibit works that people on this board have done regarding JW specifically. Whether that be arrangements or homages or whatever, I thought it would be a good idea to showcase people's different interpretations of JW pieces in one place. Hopefully some people out there have pieces of theirs that they would like to submit. With that, i'd like to submit something i've been working on and off for a year or so now. First, a little background. I am not a composer by any means and sadly I don't get to be immersed in music 24-7 due to my seemingly never-ending studies. But since i've been performing in various ensembles and orchestras for close to 14 years now as an intense hobby of mine, i've had some experience with music first-hand, at least in the performance aspect. Having said that, I have no experience with musical composition or arranging in the formal sense so please keep that in mind when listening to my amateurish try at arrangement. Anyways, this short arrangement is from the "End Credits" of 'Hook'. Perhaps more than any other score, 'Hook' and more specifically the melody expressed in this arrangement captured my imagination ever since I first heard it as a wee lad. Almost to the point where for awhile, it became stuck in my head and almost drove me insane. Anyways, use this link to download the midi file. Things to keep in mind: - This is quite a short arrangement (1:11). - This is not finished (as is evident by how the melody kind of just tapers off at the end and how voices are clearly missing). - This was done all by ear, thankfully to the fact that I have this melody etched into my memory for all time, it would seem. - I did this using Sibelius 3 which my friend lent to me years ago now - I am a total amateur when it comes to mixing, proper use of instruments, and all that stuff - I just put down what I heard from the original piece. I hope you guys like it, and I'm looking forward to hearing anything that other people have to offer!
  12. Great work by everyone, I really mean it! There is truly some great talent exhibited on these boards (unlike the other boards I frequent on the internet). Hmmm, I wonder what common factor could draw so many different talented people from all over the world altogether in one place, huh?
  13. 47. "Hand of Fate - Parts I and II" - Signs
  14. Try this link instead EDIT: My 666th post! A truly evil post if ever there was one
  15. ******************SPOILERS BELOW********************* Here is a picture of the namesake of the title of the film. Pretty big news methinks, as it somewhat confirms some of the rumors that have been floating around. ******************END SPOILERS*********************
  16. I have never seen a more inappropriate use of "Hymn to the Fallen".
  17. Oh my, I quite like that idea. I quite like that idea a lot.
  18. Hmm...I think Short Round's theme and its appearance many times in the score is absolutely delightful - one of my favs from JW in fact.
  19. Maybe (and hopefully) Arnold will break away from his diversions and learn from them to develop his style. Besides, where would we be if John Williams had left his "Jazz Career" alone (which is what i'm sure music purists thought at the time)?
  20. Newish film-composers for me: - Danny Elfman - John Powell - Eliot Goldenthal - Philip Glass (although I prefer his non-film music) - Hans Zimmer (yes, he has some good stuff!) - JNH And quite a few others I can't think of now.
  21. I know what you're talking about On the plus side with KOTCS though, it looks like we may have a full-blown Soviet theme for this one, something i've been wanting to hear from Williams for a LOOOOOONG time. Personally I hope he mixes up some powerful brass scoring (think Shostakovich) with some subtle Russian Choir motifs. mmmmmm......Williams-style soviet music
  22. I hope it's closer to TOD - would love to hear JW be lively again after all this time.
  23. Well, as of right now, the tracks don't play on iPods. Oh noes, how will the self-absorbed hipster douchebags I see on trains and buses find free music for their fashion accessor...er I mean, mp3 players now?! Any news on if QTraxx caters to those of us with classical/soundtrack music tastes?
  24. Thanks for that fantastic find Dole, I hadn't seen it before.
