  1. His work for concert hall is so vivid and melodic. I love it!
  2. Feel free to visit our website UnderScores.fr to read our latest interview with American composer Peter Boyer! Read the interview in English: http://www.underscores.fr/rencontres/interviews-vo/2016/11/interview-with-peter-boyer/ American composer Peter Boyer has been noted for the quality of his orchestral work, often described as lyrical, energetic and powerful. He has become one of the most frequently performed American orchestral composers of his generation, with over 400 performances of his works by more than 150 orchestras, including several of the major American orchestras. He has conducted three albums of his concert music, all of which have received extensive broadcasts on classical radio throughout the United States and abroad. His major work, Ellis Island: The Dream Of America, for actors and orchestra, is one of the most performed large-scale American concert works of the last 15 years in the U.S., with over 160 live performances, and it received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Classical Composition. In addition to his work for the concert hall, Boyer is active as an orchestrator for Hollywood films, having worked on more than 35 feature film scores for several leading Hollywood composers, including Michael Giacchino, James Newton Howard, Thomas Newman, James Horner and Mark Isham. Boyer agreed to answer to our questions about his work as a concert composer, and an orchestrator for movies.
  3. A great interview, once again, Jay. So deep, so sharp and so informative. Thanks a lot!
  4. I expected that the Deluxe packaging would contain extra material in the booklet, à la The Hobbit. Now, I'm a bit lost. I think I shall order the standard CD and wait for echoes of other editions.
  5. For the booklet... Wait a minute, do you think the booklet will feature only pictures, à la TPM 2 CD set? No text? Oh boy...
  6. I'm unsure about where one can order the 'Deluxe Packaging' ( = with booklet) of TFA? I visited Disney Emporium Music website, and the only options there are 1/ the standard CD or 2/ the Deluxe CD with the poster. Did they decide to cancel the 'Deluxe Packaging' CD? Did I miss something (if so, my apologies ladies & gentlemen)? EDIT: sorry, found it on the Universal Music Website.
  7. Oh boy, you're probably right about it now I think about it, Jay! EDIT: I would love ENCORE of the JW titles you quoted Jay. But ... they would need a *real* remastering, not a wall-of-sound type of remastering. I'll take THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY for example: the VS CD was remastered but the sound was just horrible, while the Intrada edition has a natural, beautiful sound. Well, we'll see about on Monday!
  8. The Goonies, Ghostbusters and Joe VS. the Volcano would be great ENCORE titles, only if a serious remastering is done (for the last 2)...
  9. I want a Deluxe edition of it since the original CD release, back in 1997. Hope it will be well done too.
  10. Well, I want to see between the words that he did post because he knows. He's a producer + he met Poledouris' daughter recently...
  11. About Starship Troopers, Ford A. Thaxton posted this, on Oct 27th, on FSM message boards: As the old saying goes 'All Good Things come to those who Wait..." I think this might appear sooner then later. Ford A. Thaxton Source: http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?forumID=1&pageID=6&threadID=110192&archive=0 So he almost confirms this one is coming (yes, like Winter...).
  12. You can't paly a SACD on a regular Cd player, right? (sorry to be so ignorant) EDIT: the answer is yes, you can't.
  13. Oh, I ignored that... Thank you Stefancos. I'll keep my old VS CD then as I don't have a SACD player. EDT: Ricard, may the mighty labels and the studio hear you!
  14. Thanks Jay! I wonder what content will be on this SACD...
  15. Bruce Kimmel posted on FSM that Kritzerland next release will be MISSOURI BREAKS by our true hero! From what he says, it seems it'll be a 2 CD set! FSM member Josh Mitchel wrote: "'70s western comedy/drama? It's gotta be Missouri Breaks (the original film recordings). Seven weeks from licensing deal to announcement = most impressive". Kimmel wrote a few comments later that: "Wouldn't that be something? I know I'd be dancing a western jig - all the original film tracks for the first time and the LP re-recording remastered from the original album masters (I didn't care for the Ryko EQ and decided to go back to the source). The original film tracks are great - leaner and meaner but just wonderful-sounding. I would advise everyone to be here first thing Monday morning And yes, we've upped the number a little but given the previous releases and that it's not, you know, one of those 80s or 90s things, I was not comfortable upping it much because I think most of us have learned the hard way that once you hit a certain number people then think they can wait until it's down to its final fifty to order - we're not quite set up to do that, and while some titles still sell out, many don't, including some surprising ones. Even Breakheart Pass at 1000 copies took a few days, which was really surprising to me. This one won't be around long and we need a sellout every now and then. I'm not sure how to calculate because Williams rearranged a lot of the album tracks to play as cohesively as possible, and therefore they don't always resemble what's in the film. I can say there's probably ten more minutes of music, maybe a bit more, a couple of unused cues, and some bonus stuff. I suspect that disc one will run an hour but can't swear to that yet. The original LP was about thirty-seven minutes. Listening to the complete score in the original tracks is a whole different deal and a pretty amazing one". 16. Ladies and gentlemen, feel free to read my latest interview with Intrada's producer and marketing director Roger Feigelson. You'll learn a lot about upcoming releases in reading it, especially CONAN THE BARBARIAN. And of course, the very last question is about John Williams' work! Enjoy! http://www.underscor...ney-and-beyond/
  17. I hope COCOON will be reedited because I sold my Pendulum reissue CD when I needed money, few monthes ago...
  18. May you be kind enough to enlight me, please: who is Mr Richardson? It's the first time I hear about him. Is he to John Williams what Lois Carruth was to the late Jerry Goldsmith? Thx.
  19. On March, the 6th ! Look here: http://www.amazon.co...6882538&sr=8-11
  20. Jason, Intrada already released Delerue's Exposed last year. As much as I would love a Williams double-feature, I don't see it happening...
  21. For your information: War Horse FYC disc sold for $41. And Tintin FYC disc sold for $65.
