Was just wondering about something today: do people think Ren will keep his helmet in Episode VIII (and possibly IX), now that they have revealed his face in Episode VII?

Technically, there should be no reason in-film for the character to abandon it (he's still a Vader fanboy at the end of the film, and I'm guessing most (all?) First Order members don't know what he looks like beneath the helmet, so he'd want to keep it), but the filmmaking crew may think: "OK, now that the cat is out of the bag, there's no need to keep the helmet".

I'd personally prefer for him to keep it, as he looks more menacing with it (even if the mystery surrounding him is now gone), but I'm not convinced he will.

Didn't Kylo drop his helmet when he was facing Han?

He was certainly not wearing it during the final battle and - looking at all the doomsday action around him - I doubt there was time left to pick it up before fleeing the planet. So maybe we're up for an updated mask in EP VIII.

  4. Yep. I don't really see the point of it.

well it's basically Blomkamp replaying the adventures of his childhood. Only this time with bigger toys and better special effects.

It's this aspect that makes me hopeful for this film.

Just like JJA with Star Wars.

  5.

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/news/a632875/neill-blomkamp-alien-5-will-not-undo-alien-3--alien-resurrection.html

"I'm not trying to undo Alien 3 or Alien: Resurrection - I just want it to be connected to Alien 1 and 2."

Yeah -- again, he's just trying to be polite, a sneaky way of avoiding hostile reactions from fans of those movies -- but of course just adding confusion to the mix. And while he isn't necessarily undoing the FILMS per se (how could he?), he's obviously undoing the existing continuity. That was clear the moment he included Hicks in the storyline.

Maybe not. If it takes place before Hicks dies.

What?!? So how would that happen, exactly? They climb out of their cryos, get 30 years older, have an adventure, then at the end of the film they climb back in, get 30 years younger and the film picks up where ALIEN 3 begins?

Maybe Ripley finds an old savegame and quickloads the shit out of the storyline.

Didn't Wayne's World pull that trick back in the early 90s?

  6. I see it as a proper adaption of all those crazy ass Dark Horse comics from the 90ies. The ones, were scientists came up with a ridiculous plan to do something stupid and then all of a sudden everything goes to hell.

I can fairly enjoy it in THAT light.

So Thor. Since we know Sigourney's in this movie, but don't know about Hicks or Newt yet.......

Do you want Sigourney to play a Clone of Ripley ala Alien: Resurrection, or do you want her to play Ellen Ripley proper, in a story never told before, taking place befores she dies at the end of Alien 3?

Nobody knows Sigourney's in. Nobody, beside Sigourney and Neill of course.
