Yeah it's one of the better ones in the film. Some of the edits are awful. More awful than I expected. Snowball Fight is butchered surprisingly terribly (quality of edit wise, it really only has two or three edits in it). That and Portrait Gallery / Big Doors / Great Hall Ceiling are particularly awful. Most of them just shorten things and aren't particularly bad (having the full track is of course better). In the case of the ones I mentioned: Removing instruments, abrupt edits, retiming, etc. Ugh. The poor music. I can't say that I prefer the film edits of anything of course, but "Brief Snow Scene" has an interesting edit in the film.

I'm just curious to actually hear some of the cues crossfaded and edited together in a conclusive track. Don't get me wrong, I love how they're presented here. Having the ability to have them basically separate is exactly what I wanted, but I'm also curious how they'd sound flowing into each other a bit more.

Not necessarily. I more so like how they're presented here together in one track. Also I had utterly forgotten the ghost song was on the OST. Huh. It's been awhile. True, but this was one of those tracks I felt like I was hearing for the first time again because of the new mix. And now with the opening 50 seconds it's perfect. You've got a bit of Dursley's, and all the big, magical themes coming back in for the first time in the film. I just love it. I do remember missing that opening when listening to the OST for CoS, I just appreciate that it's all here. Sure, but the opening two minutes is awesome! I really like the performance on the Platform 9 3/4 portion, and having it together with the Flying Car is great. Blimey. Was it really? I again felt like I was hearing this for the first time. I've been away from the Potter music longer than I thought... Again. Damnit. It was? Welp. This set has certainly made me revisit music that I had apparently strayed from for far too long! LOL. I think I'll amend the lists for 1 and 2, since I clearly did not remember what was actually on the OST. HP1: Diagon Alley and The Gringotts Vault [Extended Version] Harry Gets His Wand Through the Doors Fighting the Troll Filch’s Fond Remembrance The Chess Game [Extended Version] Gryffindor Wins the House Cup Nimbus 2000 Teaser Trailer HP2: The Escape From the Dursleys (Keeping this) The Train Station and The Flying Car (This too) Whomping Willow and The Car Escapes The Writing on the Wall Quidditch, Second Year Harry Is a Parselmouth Christmas Break Prologue: Book II [Alternate] Car Drives Off [Alternate Segment] Television Commercial No. 3 @Jay Looks like it's time for me to Pop-In my OSTs again. XD

My first priority at the moment is examining the film edits for learning techniques and analysis purposes, but yes, I do have a couple of custom editing ideas for a more "Album" like presentation as a listening option as well. Just haven't gotten to it yet. I should finish up my film edits of Azkaban this weekend, and then I'm going to work on some of those Custom edit ideas. I really want to take a wack at condensing Pettigrew, Sirius, and Additional Double Trouble material into their own compilations like "A Window To The Past". I'd certainly be interested in participating something like this.

Let's see. Here's my 10 from each (in the order they appear on the set) HP1: Diagon Alley and The Gringotts Vault [Extended Version] Through the Doors Fighting the Troll Cast a Christmas Spell Filch’s Fond Remembrance The Chess Game [Extended Version] Gryffindor Wins the House Cup Nimbus 2000 Teaser Trailer HP2 (This one was HARD to narrow down): The Escape From the Dursleys The Train Station and The Flying Car The Writing on the Wall Quidditch, Second Year Christmas Break The Spiders Attack Fawkes Heals Harry Prologue: Book II [Alternate] Car Drives Off [Alternate Segment] Television Commercial No. 3 HP3 (This was EVEN harder): The Knight Bus [Extended Version] Trouble Takes Many Forms Befriending the Hippogriff Summoning the Patronus Buckbeak’s Fate and The Marauder’s Map Time Past / Saving Buckbeak The Rescue of Sirius The Firebolt and End Credits Suite The Firebolt [Alternate] Teaser Overall, ranked in order of favorites: The Rescue of Sirius Teaser (from "Prisoner of Azkaban") The Firebolt and End Credits Suite Time Past / Saving Buckbeak Trouble Takes Many Forms Fighting the Troll Teaser (from "Philosopher's Stone") Quidditch, Second Year The Spiders Attack Gryffindor Wins the House Cup Damn there is so much goodness on this set. This was tough! CoS and PoA had over 15 each on my first go through of this.

SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE - 3CD Set from La-La Land Records
TSMefford replied to TownerFan's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Excellent! Definitely going to try and not miss out on this one like I did with Jurassic Park -
I knew it existed but had not clued in on the melody either until it was mentioned. So it's a fantastic catch! Side question: Would anyone be remotely interested in an analysis of the Music Editing of Prisoner of Azkaban? I'm about half way through, so it'd be a bit before it's finished, but if anyone wants to know more I'd be willing to share. It's less of an editing guide and more of just a reference on what cues are cut down and what techniques were used. It'd be way too detailed incorporating exact time stamps when things were removed.

Hmm?

Good luck!

Oh wow I missed this. Definitely checking it out now! EDIT: This was great! Loved the insight here, especially with the tempo and the click track. I remember seeing Star Trek 2009 and Into Darkness in Houston and they lost the reference for the first half. I can only imagine what the would've been like for PoA.

Ah, yes. Of course. XD I'm so good at humor. Sorry @Arpy lol

EDIT: I do not get jokes.

Lol. Hey man I'm just trying to use my tools to prove things and explain what I'm doing. XD I know many find it tedious though so I do apologize. I'd make a pitiful professor.

I'm with you on that. Although I will admit I'm sort of middle ground between these two. For example, I will not take my brand new Harry Potter discs and play them in my car. Typically I'll burn a copy disc for use in the car, but listen to the original discs at home or something. I just don't want those sitting out in a hot car or something when I can protect them better. Things like China though I'm like yeah...I'm gonna use that or I'm not gonna have it...

That's unfortunate. I have a couple shows I have to do that with. Luckily I have far more free time than you. Lol. I only have time on the weekends to watch those kinds of things alone (My partner works weekends). So, I have had to essentially wait a week between catching up on shows though. It's nice though! It's like the days before binge watching.
