  1. WELCOME, TO JURASSIC PARK! Oh, my photoshopping days are numbered...
  2. My professional recommendation, blast this on your headphones while riding a horse and jumping creeks and ravines:
  3. I agree it's all subjective, I don't know if people in an art forum need to post "imo" in order to make that known. Unless they're trying to make it a debate or an attack on others' opinions, saying that something sucks I think can be assumed to be opinion. I can't treat music too factually with the highest rated albums of all time being like OK Computer and disagreeing with that tremendously, almost to the point of personal offense. Soundtrack is to me unique upon each interpretation. Sometimes it's about fitting a film to a subjective impression. ie. The Lion King OST with the film was absolutely perfect, while by itself it was quite flawed. Jurassic Park was much better than Schindler's List, etc. There are a number of angles to subjectively interpret music and its achievements.
  4. I always thought this was a terrific, original space theme: Two melodies harmonizing. And who ever knew John Williams wrote game music? Jk :
  5. I just love this score so much, goddam. So underrated. I'm listening to the hq version with my AKGs and wish those drumsticks at 2:28 were louder. Overall this score really starts shining after 10 mins. Sucks on youtube they took off the 21st century/Library track that comes on right after I Don't Belong Here. That was a necessary track for progression, so epic.
  6. Sorry I have to post more! Man, I f*in love Harry Potter music. The theme The Psycho Pianist pointed out above with Williams' classic IV7, gives Harry's perspective a thoughtful, almost absorbed sentimentality. Williams melody-writing is genius. The almost Bachian refiguring of intricate stringline and bass counterpoint to the filmstyle of the 20th century: The brilliant melodies he teases us throughout the movie with, then boldly and finally develops once-and-for-all, again AGAIN at 2:48: And I remember listening to this part over and over in a teary kind of happiness. The crescendo and then bittersweet flute accompaniment of this wondrous melody resembling nature:
  7. I have this movie in my Top 20. It's one of the best if you like James Bond. I loved all the tones, light and dark. I have a weird taste in movies though, my all-time favorite is The Time Machine (2002) followed by Ponyo and Mulholland Dr.
  8. I repeat 10 s moments up the wazoo! My most repeated music segment of all time I think is [1] + [2], and have been repeating the first 30 s of This Land from The Lion King a lot today. As far as John Williams, I remember repeating this countless times when it came out. The bright and airy classicism of it fascinated me, and how it sounded slightly flat: The horn melody (+ little flutes.) Reminds me of something that would be out of Homeward Bound or a country-themed orchestra, yet has much more European elegance and structure. This is not part of the score, but man, the 10 s of piano... Classic Williams: Wow yes, such a brilliant melody. That's probably my favorite version of it. Is that the part when Hedwig is flying over Hogwarts?
  9. My favorite VG soundtrack is Final Fantasy X. So many great themes and melodies. Also, I don't like RPGs. I like point-and-click adventure games. My favorite VG tracks are: 1) Crystal - A Link to the Past (probably the most iconic track in a video game I've heard) 2) Leftovers of the Dreams of the Strong - Xenogears (it's the part after 1:34: like an epic Egyptian dance, the constant tempo is hypnotic) 3) A Chapel - Final Fantasy Tactics (just good fun and interesting fantasy)
  10. So I watched this movie for the first time in over a decade, and it replaced Star Wars as my favorite score of all time. Am I going mad or is this normal...
