While I enjoy the amount of music on the Anthology presentation, the original album order is my preference.

Into The Trap should always be towards the beginning of the album. It is the equivalent of The Droid Battle from Phantom or Ben's Death from Star Wars. I also love the killer placement of The Return of the Jedi on the original album so that we only need one rendition of that new victory fanfare. I sometimes think about what it would have been like to hear this album in '83 on vinyl and think it was the finale! In this way, the title track from ROTJ serves the same purpose as the second half of Qui-Gon's Noble End.

The Final Duel and Darth Vader's Death are the most vital missing pieces from the OST. Also, The Emperor Arrives or Confronts Luke would be appreciated. If I had 3 of those on the original album I would be thrilled, and more than satisfied. After that, the Rancor Fight, and maybe Fight with the Fighters. But not all of that is necessary, just nice.

I really only listen to Star Wars now via the Ultimate Digital Collection that was released in 2016. You know, the last time they were mastered competently.

Well, they are rebels and she is briefing him on something.

I have this set too, it is great and it was my re-introducing experience to SW soundtracks. But I'm still prefer mine most complete edits or Anthology. And what annoys me about original albums, is phantom menace chopped to pieces, for example.

    YES!!!!

I was hoping there was something like the Musical Journey that came with the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack, but with all the major themes across the 9 films.

    Ah the dreams!

Forgot to mention that I wanted all OT concert pieces re-recorded in full with the same powerful perfomance as this Imperial March excerpt. But Musical Journey-like release would be cool too.

I cried (seriously) when I heard it, felt so fresh and was fantastic to hear a modern studio recording with Williams conducting.

We need whole piece re-recorded like that. Or compilation featuring all concert pieces (at least from OT) can be really great.

Probably for practical/logistical reasons. Flying and all that heavy travel gets harder on your body as you get older and Williams is in his eighties. Plus the schedule for those movies was a little weird; on "The Last Jedi" for instance, instead of recording the score all at once like you usually do, he would write maybe 45 minutes of music, record it, then spend a few more weeks writing another 45 minutes, record it, and did this for three or four months. With that schedule it was much easier to stay home instead of traveling for such a long time.

In a perfect world I think JW would have liked to continue using the LSO since they're such an important part of Star Wars history, but in interviews he's spoken very highly of LA's musicians (they're seriously some of the best in the world), and by the time of "Rise of Skywalker" he and his music contractor had assembled an orchestra of the best players they could find -- the absolute cream of the crop -- so he was very happy with the results.

So, this LA orchestra in TROS kicked LSO ass? And this is most uncomplete and chopped to hell SW score to date, ah, irony.

Don Williams is really smashing those timps in this version of The Imperial March, I think you lose quiet a bit of the harmonic context coming from the strings on the ostinato when the percussion is too loud in the various recordings of the piece (including the TROS one).

But you can't disagree that this version of the theme is just effing smashing. When I've first heard it, it just blew me away.

    Sure go ahead!

And as for ET and Schindler's, I can't find any information on the orchestra used, but they were both recorded in LA. Based on the sound I think ET was probably performed by the HSS, but I'm not positive about Schindler's.

Heh, I'm remember how I have written you for possibilty of download links, but I've found another way around. Your ROTS version without tracked music from Squid is very cool.

I wanted download links because I'm still not sure that the audio that I've got is not compressed.

RotLA and TOD use the London Symphony Orchestra. TLC and KotCS use the Hollywood Studio Symphony (basically the same configuration as the Star Wars sequel trilogy).

All 8 of the Harry Potter films use the London Symphony Orchestra.

Jurassic Park, I'm not that familiar with, so I'm not positive. I think it's the LSO, but don't quote me on that.

Very cool, thanks, this info is nowhere to be found. I'm think that I'm need to edit LSO recording Wikipedia list. I meant only JW HP, but this is even cooler.

I've read that all Indy sequels were recorded in the one same stage, is it true? And there is no info on E.T., List?

And I'm know that this is a very late question, but don't you mind that I'm using your SW edits for my compilations? Your AOTC and ROTS are backbone of mine versions. Absolutely superior work, by the way.

    Don't forget Panama Hat!:

10 themes. This is like ROTJ level, even if it little bit unfair, because some disappear too fast.

By the way, can you fix in the next version of your SW themes L7 to L3 and add Ah, Rats!!! motif as misc. recurring to IJ themes? It is in the beginning of the video.

And thank you for your superb work.

+ Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword

Yes the complete score of The Last Crusade is one of the most adventurous, globe-trotting scores there is.

And users rating on Filmtracks is laughable. 3.95??? Really? More than 4.10 at least

You can check my compiled version in one place that I'm now calling Area 51 for security reasons.

I never really had a problem with the recording of TLC the way some people have had.

Me too. I'm also think that TLC is close second or on the same level as Raiders overall. Yes, TOD is frantic, Raiders have Mickey Mousing and insane Ark theme, but Crusade is most thematically rich, if I'm start to count themes/motifs…

    Cross of Coronado

Henry Sr./Grail Quest/Family theme (according to Skull)

    Holy Grail

    Scherzo

    Joneses

    Nazis

    Grail Knight

    Raiders March of course

And music of Crusade is also most heart touching of all four.

Edir: I'm also was very surprised when this nervous part from Ah, Rats! returned with Indy escape attempt in Skull, so you technically can count it as motif overall.

I think it was just a smaller orchestra than the ones used to record Raiders and Temple

But actually TLC still loses for TOD and RotLA. Because LSO is LSO and TOD is simply insane in terms of speed.

Btw, do anybody have information about what exactly orchestras was used for Temple, Crusade, Skull, E.T., Schindler's List and Jurassic Park with all HP scores?

Edit: forgot about sequels and Solo.

In what form do you listen to it? The LP program probably. I find it a bit inconvenient that this magnificent score never got the 2LP program it deserved. There is enough highlights that would have allowed for some 30 minutes more without weakening the listening experience. I'm wondering what you think about this.

Generally I wouldn't give the title of most underrated Star Wars score to Episode VI. That trophy should go to Episode II. And if anyone replies to this with "but Episode II is bullshit" you confirm that.

LP situation in 1983 was very questionable, so suggested 2LP release was dropped, which is a very big mistake. Stuff avaliable on re-recordings was very low in terms of quantity.

Oh man, I traded that box down by the '97 Special Editions, which I absolutely regret now. Although I would really be happy about a well-crafted complete score release, the anthology box set remains irreplacable.

By far my most favourite score release of all time. Everything is superb, from packaging to content, only thing than bugs me is very bland covers, plus little tape damages here and there.

Sadly, I'm not in possession of the physical version, but at least have complete booklet scans.

And based on my research when I'm was busy building my ultimate ROTJ, in which this box of course is the main source, besides Sail Barge Assault, concert suites and end credits which was sourced from LP, at least Main Title and Han Solo Returns are sourced from Anthology on the SE.

Edit: Han Solo Returns on Anthology was sourced from LP too, so SE maybe sourced original LP, except proper ending.

I'm also like how LP names Leia's News with Funeral Pyre "Rebel Briefing", this is just great.

    But Epsiode II is bullshit!

Return to Tatooine is one of my favorite Star Wars tracks, and I'm being totally serious.

Also, I find the complete score to Return of the Jedi more digestible than Empire Strikes Back, though there are definitely cues where they were designed to support the film foremost.

    You mean Tatooine Rendezvous?

Unlike Return of the Jedi, Attack of the Clones is a really underrated score. Sure, there's not that much action music, but the quieter material is great!

AOTC is filled with great music. Also lack of action music doesn't equal boring. Some of my favorite material from AOTC is the quieter stuff. AOTC does have a ton of action music though, even though only a portion of it appears on the album.

I must confess that I like stuff with Anakin and Padme on Naboo.
