  1. Donning my Accountant hat here. But if you spread the fixed costs over 3000 CDs, then it doesn't look that big (in average costs). But look at say 50 releases per year, you are looking at serious revenue (if you put out the right titles).
  2. I'm betting that $9.99 for a $19.99 CD is probably a breakeven point. Especially on those $29.99 just-add-the-original-CD 2 disc editions, the labels are just printing their own money.
  3. One of the orchestrators was a student of him.
  4. It's the biggest surprise of 2010, quite enjoyable at that.
  5. I originally did intend NOT to have an ending.
  6. Giacchino simply because many of his scores have warmth and emotion in them (Ratatouille, Up (although heavily overrated, the Medal of Honor series). Many Desplat scores I feel are TOO intelligent or you notice how cold the scores feel (my examples of this are Cheri, Benjamin Button, The Queen, etc).
  7. The BIg Race I hope you enjoy it. You will probably notice a Williams-esque feel to it with a touch of Horner. I did not do it completely intentionally, although I had listened to Far and Away fairly recently so that might have been it. All comments/constructive criticism/suggestions are welcome.
  8. Well, Filmtracks has suggested a weak four star rating and MMUK has given a five star rating (but Broxton's five star ratings have the credibility of ditch water sometimes).
  9. If you wanted to join the composers challenge at FSM, there's still about 2.5 weeks left before the dead-line on November 11th.
  10. The deadline has been moved to Nov 1st.
  11. Could you register, it would be easier to track who's in and not.
  12. For those of you who write music, would you be interested in joining? My link
  13. I hope you like it. Please comment on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfG6USoEGRk
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0K7BC8LoV60 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1YLwyUPr5w It was written by my friend a few years, he won an award for best music in a dramatic play at the Provincials. The play was based on DH Lawrence's famous work "The Rocking Horse Winner". I think he did a great job considering that he was in highschool and the performing musicians were in highschool. His score address both the downbeat nature of the son's depression and the mother's upbeat comedic tendencies of having money.
  15. I think the best example of that is his channeling of Bernard Herrmann's style into The Fury, which is one of John Williams's best scores. JW even makes Herrmann's sound sound more modern to newer listeners, which the somewhat absent of Herrmann's typical shrieking dissonance.
  16. Haha, okay. That's a clever idea; I'd definitely be up fo-- ... What? It's just I think with appreciation that there would be no or very little middle ground in terms of critical reaction to this film (God helping it ever be made). I know how nasty film score fans can be in giving their opinion about something. Or should it be a comedy primarily with splices of camp?
  17. It's probably easier to do than my idea. Perhaps...
  18. That documentary on film score fans? Yeah I'd like to know more about that... if this is what the OP is talking about. It's actually something different. But that's also a good idea (why didn't I think of that?)
  19. You may have seen this post on Film Score Monthly and Main Titles, but I was seeing if anyone is interested in being a part of a movie that I had an idea recently. And yes, I am being serious. And no, it is not a porno.
