  1. I absolutely loved the opening episode. The cast is astonishing and the detail of the world breathtaking. There are feature film level effects and cinematography. And everyone who read the books knows that the story gets better and better with every page turned. I am so looking forward to the back half of the episodes where everything storywise falls together and creates highpoint after highpoint. Concerning the music consider me positively suprised. It did not distract me in a negative way and i even liked three or four cues. The main theme is ok and works well in the context of the credit sequence. The pieces i liked most were the King's Arrival and the the piece in the end leading up to the cliffhanger. By the way i thought i noticed lots of brass in the King's Arrival cue and i also considered it quite powerful. I'm sure hiring a composer like Bear McCreary would have been a better choice but as of now i can live with Ramin Djawadi.
  2. What a great feeling to watch this, i really like their more open approach with production vid's that actually show some things (instead of being extremely secretive)
  3. I'm at the moment thinking about getting this score, but is it worth it? What are the highlights? Can someone post times/moments of tracks which show how good this score is (that i can check it out on youtube). I also want to pick up another one of Williams older scores, but have no clue what may be the best choice. What do you think, which of these scores would you recommend to get first? None but the Brave Accidental Tourist How to steal a Million/ Bachelor Flat Cinderella Liberty Also is Goldsmith's Alien worth it? I fear too much uncomfortable disharmonies...
  4. Well i don't think the Zam Chase was edited all too much. So Lucas must have liked it enough to overrule Burtt and keep it almost completely in the film.
  5. Dark Side Beckons is amazing Gloria from Monsignor is another one Jurassic Park - Journey to the Island . . You already mentioned almost all the best ones , but i have some additional favourites of mine -> Home Alone 2: Star of Betlehem -> Call of the Champions -> Attack of the Clones: 3:35 in Return to Tatooine (best statement of duel of the fates) -> TESB: City in the Clouds
  6. Breathtaking Making Of Video released for the show. It also contains the main title theme at 22:38 till the credits start to roll. Concerning the music consider me not particularly impressed but it could have been much worse. The show will be utterly amazing, no doubt anymore after this vid. Check out 03:27, 12:50, 12:57, 13:00, 16:55 for feature film quality Visual effects, just mindblowing to see such things on TV!!! No show i know of had effects in that kind of quality, not even BSG.
  7. All this damned tracking, i guess Ben Burtt really hates JW It would be so cool to get seperate music audio tracks on the blue ray. Then we would be able to insert all the music JW intended (create a new music audio track)
  8. Wow, another different cool rendition of the force theme in the Palpatine's Plotting mockup. Where would it have appeared in the film?
  9. Abbey Road or Air Lyndhurst? How would i know? He just posted on facebook that he is going to London.
  10. Conrad Pope is in London where the recording sessions will take place. So i asume they will record in one or two weeks.
  11. This year on the 23rd of September the third Hollywood in Vienna concert takes place. The Max Steiner award will go to Alan Silvestri who is personally attending and conducting a suite of Back to the future. Other guests include Patrick Doyle and Bruce Broughton. This already became the yearly filmmusic event in Austria. There will also be music played from ET, Harry Potter (maybe even conducted by Patrick Doyle) and Hook!!! I never got a chance to hear Hook live so that will be amazing and right in time for the 20th anniversary of the score.
  12. Gandalf: Even the smallest one can fulfill it's purpose Frodo: Hey don't laugh, give me back my pants!
  13. The sheet music does not call for any chorus in that section, I believe that is just a myth. Ok i was wrong, the chorus singer only said that he participated in the finale as a solo tenor See the article on the mainpage in 2002: http://www.jwfan.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=22
  14. And don't forget about the chorus in the real recording which is obviously not in the mock up.
  15. Nice alternate finale but the Imperial March insert is still a mighty improvement over this. The March led to goosebumps in the cinema back then and additionally the orchestration and arrangement are better than every occurence of the Imperial March in the other films. So good job George Lucas for making Williams exchange a good finale with an even better one. And thank you very much Jason for posting this famous unreleased track as a mock up
  16. Well, as soon as the Tintin soundtrack and the film are released we will know if the information FilmComposer518 provided us with is correct. And if some details aren't true we will know that he made it up... just a matter of time to find out
  17. The first 15 minutes of episode one will be previewed on HBO and on the net on April the 3rd! Here is the newest and longest trailer to date
  18. The idea is good. As a suggestion: In my opinion it would probably better to create four sub forums within the review forum for a better structure -> FILM, OST, BOOK, Non film score music
  19. I looked quite a bit on the net. i couldn't find a single release with this amazing 4:04 minutes concert version. Considering that it is by far better than the album version that's a colossal pity ...and the 98 live recording probably was recorded with a camera judging by the low quality I mean just the new opening is extremely kickass and then then the revised ending at 3:24! If someone of you knows a better quality recording of this piece please tell us
  20. So this concert version was only played once at all?
  21. Is there no recording in at least a comparable quality to a 320 kbps mp3 out there from the live concert version?
  22. Two questions for the Lost World experts : Are all statements of the Lost World theme from the movie released? Do you know or have a high quality recording of the unique concert performance of the Lost World Theme with the special opening and the slight differences in orchestration?
  23. Hilarious Youtube Vid concerning an Old Men Lightsaber Duel (Return Of The Geriatric) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojJUzv88Els&feature=player_embedded#at=65
