  1. "...followed up closely by the really weird ending of the movie... Aliens? what the heck? *sigh* Some people's kids who weren't paying attention the the masterpiece that is AI.
  2. Bah. I was really looking forward to what Goldsmith's score would be like. *angrily mumbles while walking away*
  3. In my opinion, the change in direction seems to be well and truly similar to the change in directors from George Lucas to Irvin Kirshner for The Empire Strikes Back. My point being that nothing much will change, but it will still be good.
  4. Most of Hans Zimmer's material is good, but sometimes it goes to the point of unlistenable. For example, Black Hawk Down - the music(?) reflects the bleak mood of the film very well but just trying to listen to it on CD is a struggling ordeal! In other words, it's just noise to me. However, I like many of his scores and I truly believe that he has deep, rich musical talent. But to say that he's better than Williams is blowing it out of proportion - i.e. - what the more musically educated guys above said.
  5. 1. Superman 2. Empire Strikes Back, The 3. Jurassic Park 4. Star Wars: A New Hope 5. Raiders of the Lost Ark 6. E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial 7. A.I. - Artificial Intelligence 8. Patriot, The 9. Close Encounters of the Third Kind 10. Jaws
  6. As a proud owner of a widescreen TV, I prefer Anamorphic Widescreen transfers. And really, so what if it was filmed in Super-35? I have many films shot in that format on DVD in widescreen, and to me it's much more pleasurable to watch. They release DVDs in flippers, NTSC in Region 4, Pan 'n Scam only titles. Worst mainstream distributor in Region 4.
  7. $2Warner better not screw up and only release a Pan 'n Scam piece of trash with this DVD in Australia. If they do, I'll... ...well, you see my avatar.
  8. My choices for nominations would be... Minority Report - John Williams Catch Me If You Can - John Williams Red Dragon - Danny Elfman Spider-Man - Danny Elfman The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers - Howard Shore (rule or no bloody rule) ...and a few more that I can't think of. Mainly mine is all wishful thinking.
  9. I happened to see it at a second hand outlet in Sydney for AUS$12.00. I should have got it then but that was like, what, 2 years ago when I had no job.
  10. Personally, I hope Danny Elfman wins for Spider-Man... because it was good. As much as I thought The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring was good as well, Shore got the naked golden rod, so he's out for me. About Spider-Man being criticized for not being "hummable" (what kind of bloody word it that to defame a score?), I actually found it extremely memorable and deserving of official recognition, thank you very much. I also find it unfortunate that his scores have been overlooked all over the past decade for whatever reason. But that's just my opinion.
  11. I admit, I was at first disappointed by the fact that it was supposedly an isolated score with pointless sound effects thrown in (couldn't they have placed that in a separate production audio track like on the Alien DVD?), but the commentary itself was excellent.
  12. Thank you for the welcoming. Concerning my interest in Williams' music, I pretty much like anything that he's done - even more subtle, atonal, intellectual and even almost ambient scores. Heh, I may as well buy it. My collection can only grow.
  13. The best commentary I've heard is from Danny Elfman for Planet of the Apes - he's just so into it! He was also quite insightful for Edward Scissorhands. I've yet to hear his commentary for The Family Man - I rented it, but I didn't have time to listen to it. Elliot Goldenthal sounded a little more enthusiastic for Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within however. Unfortunately, Jerry Goldsmith was barely audible for Hollow Man.
  14. Trust me, it's very rare in Australia (well as far as I know because I haven't seen it anywhere else). About 30 Australian Dollars are worth about 15 US Dollars.
  15. Hey there. A few days ago, I saw the Sleepers soundtrack at a nearby CD outlet, however it's AUS$29.95 and seems to be quite rare (it isn't even in the list of CDs available at the side of the page on this website). Would any of you recommend it or would I be wasting my cash? :?
