  1. Because it's literally in the middle of nowhere. Over 2 hours to Boston and 2.5 hours to New York City (and 4 hours to Montreal). Even the closest secondary cities that have rail like Albany, NY and Springfield, MA are at least 50 minutes away. Without cars Tanglewood never would have existed. A few years back they did offer shuttle buses from some concerts from Symphony Hall in Boston to Tanglewood, but I think they stopped.
  2. Indeed if you're heading towards the Albany NY area, park in the Lions Gate Lot on the southwest side of Tanglewood, so you can turn left on Interlaken Rd through Stockbridge and State Line Rd and avoid the crowd that can expect to be stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic back to Lenox and Lee after the concert. Or if you ARE heading East, aim for the Beech Lot and hop/run back to your car immediately when the show is over and leave before the crowds waddle back to theirs with their picnic coolers (but DON'T be those inconsiderate jerks that walk out on Johnny during encores).
  3. Well, got one Section 7. Might be obstructed view as it was much cheaper than others ($99 vs $159), but gets me in the Shed and I can always upgrade at the last minute. I would only have paid full price right away for a Section 1 seat in the first few rows.
  4. Damn it. So I closed my browser as something must have been bugging and now I'm in a Waiting Room with 40+ people ahead of me. Trying to get a ticket to the Friday night as it's more convenient for me.
  5. I keep reloading and getting this: Unfortunately, this performance is not available for purchase.
  6. I feel like our beloved Maestro’s last shots at an Oscar were Geisha, War Horse and Lincoln. He totally would have deserved all three, but since he didn’t, a sequel score like Dial of Destiny was already dead in the water. 7. Same here having ordered from Intrada! Did you hear back from Intrada or La-La Land? I’m missing the 48-page booklet as well! 😢
  8. If you make a copy of it (which you should do for your car anyway) the CD-text will often download off the internet database and be applied to the copy.
  9. Yeah I saw the VPO at the Musikverein in 2014 so I'd be due for another visit. If Williams does embark on a European tour he really should schedule a concert at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam as that place is truly the world's best-sounding hall.
  10. If it involves Daisy Ridley, he is on record saying he would be very jealous if someone else were to write the music for her, so I'm willing to bet he WILL score New Jedi Order.
  11. Darn.. it's already showing "Temporarily Out of Stock" on La-La-Land's website and I haven't placed my order yet. Are they pressing only a few at a time like Disney? Hoping to combine this one with AI and Lost World which are also temporarily out of stock as the cost of shipping pretty much doubles the price. I can't imagine all 5000 would be gone so quickly.
  12. Here are some of mine! Love that Williams surprised Anne-Sophie with Happy Birthday at the end!
  13. sent you a pm if you still have your ticket as I ran into somebody at RedBeard’s who is interested.
  14. Ok settling up on dinner and heading to RedBeard’s. How do I recognize you?
  15. Found a good (and affordable) Greek place to eat (Christo’s) on Sixth. Afterwards I think I’ll pop over to RedBeard’s on Sixth for a beer (or two) before the show, with Heinz Hall just across the street
  16. Oh, well the pandemic made me miss a lot of concerts and so far haven’t heard it in Philly 2022, NY Phil April 2023 or Tanglewood 2023. So how many of y’all are in Pittsburgh tonight?
  17. What I’d really like to hear is a concert arrangement from Rise of Skywalker or The Fabelmans. I don’t think there has been one performed in concert yet.
  18. I am! I just arrived in Pittsburgh today. Anyone up for a pre-concert drink or (cheap eats) dinner? Do we know more about the program Williams will be leading in the second half?
  19. So after a week in New Jersey my Dial of Destiny CD order was in Jamaica, NY (JFK) yesterday and should be flying to Canada soon. Hopefully customs will be as lazy as those handling my recent La-La-Land Always, Sabrina, and Amistad order and just let it slide through without any taxes.
  20. My order has been sitting in East Rutherford, New Jersey for over a week now.
  21. The way inflation is going maybe Americans can petition and have his face put on a new $200 bill. Or given his prominence as America's national composer, get minted on the $1 coin like Austria has done with Mozart on the Euro coin.
  22. Same.. in progress. Plus I find out the Blu-ray won't be out until December and I refuse to shell out for just a digital copy.
  23. Still haven't seen the Bavarian Radio Orchestra yet but it's on my list to go see on future trips to Europe (along with Dresden and Leipzig)... waiting for them to get a new hall in Munich (they keep getting shuffled around from that cavernous multifunction hall to now this semi-permanent "shed" until a third and definitive hall gets built for 2028 or something). As for the Berlin Phil, I personally find their brass sound a little too harsh. Some may like that kind of brightness that the NY Phil also seems to have, but I prefer a more rounded and balanced sound like the RCO. The hall makes a big difference though.
  24. Yeah I think the Williams part of the program will probably be arrangements from the Across the Stars CD, given Anne-Sophie Mutter's appearance. I hope they do Sabrina! Helena's Theme is pretty much a given.
