Popular Post Holko 9,526
I watched this movie recently and liked it fine enough, but noticed unused cues, so I thought why not do this? Cue list sourced from here: http://filmcues.blogspot.com/2015/12/the-river.html Through this thread: The spotting is very sparse: R1P1 The River - used as is in the film. R1P2 Leaving Home - completely unused, replaced with a very different alternate. This version emphasises the peril of the situations and all the hardships it'll cause later. R2P2 The Family - used as is in the film. Weird that JW named this cue's album extension "The Pony Ride" when the pony ride takes place in "The Garvey Family" later to a very different setting of the same theme. R3P1 The Kids Separate - used as is in the film. R4P2 The Garvey Family - used as is in the film. R5P4-R6P1 On The Dock - used as is in the film. R7P1 The Tractor Scene - completely unused, this is my best guess for its placement after much trial and error but now I'm pretty sure it's mostly right, left it run a bit to showcase the spotting choice better. R7P2 Dialing The Hospital - used as is in the film. R8P3 The Telephone Call - used as is in the film. R9P1 The Hotel Scene - used as is in the film. R9P2 Releasing The Door (sic, meant to be Doe) - completely unused but pretty sure it was meant to be used like this. R10P1 Returning Home - The film chops out a good portion of the opening, possibly footage was removed from before the transition, but it works pretty well unedited like this. R12P2-R13P1ALT More Sandbags - The film uses a not very good edit from parts of both versions. R13P2 End Credits - The film removes the repeat of the intro melody right before the main theme with the drum machine kicks in. R1P2ALT Leaving Home (Alternate) - used as is in the film. Instead of focusing on the peril, this version emphasises the family's strength and drive in dealing with the situation and introduces many of the themes earlier. R12P2-R13P1 Holding Back The Water - I had no idea what to do with this much shorter version, so I just started it where the film version starts.
