Thor 9,334 Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 [SCROLL TO THE LAST POST FOR LATEST UPDATE] I'm proud to present Celluloid Tunes -- Norway's first-ever webcast: http://celluloidtunes.no/ Yes, there will be international editions in English eventually. Meanwhile, take a look and tell me what you think.
alicebrallice 134 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 awesome, thor. I'll definitely check it out.
Thor 9,334 Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 Thanks, Alice! I know the amount of Norwegian/Danish/Swedish-speaking people here is limited, but I hope to make some programs in English eventually.
Thor 9,334 Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 Yes, that's my voice. I'm glad you like it, because I don't. Then again, who likes one's own voice?
alicebrallice 134 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 you do have a good voice! and your norwegian is very easy for me to understand.is there any way I can get this on my iphone? I'm flying home later this week and could kill some time on the plane listening to this.
Brónach 1,321 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I mostly understand "there are", "by", and the loans.
Thor 9,334 Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 you do have a good voice! and your norwegian is very easy for me to understand.is there any way I can get this on my iphone? I'm flying home later this week and could kill some time on the plane listening to this.Unfortunately, I cannot offer the webcast for download (like a podcast). This is because of copyright issues in relation to the music clips. So unless there's a WiFi on the plane and you can stream it from there, in 'flight mode', you'd need to wait untill you get back on the ground. Sorry. But that's another challenge for me right there -- how to get it plane-playable.I mostly understand "there are", "by", and the loans. That's all you need.
Thor 9,334 Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 New episode is up.... Celluloid Tunes # 2: Superhero Movie Scores! http://celluloidtunes.no/celluloid-tunes-02-superhelt-spesial/ Playlist: THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD (Erich Wolfgang Korngold)DANGER DIABOLIK (Ennio Morricone)THE ROCKETEER (James Horner)THE CROW (Graeme Revell)THE PHANTOM (David Newman)KICK-ASS (Marius de Vries)RA.ONE (Vishal-Shekhar)BATMAN (Danny Elfman)BATMAN FOREVER (Elliot Goldenthal)THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (Hans Zimmer)SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE (John Williams)MAN OF STEEL (Hans Zimmer)
Brónach 1,321 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I would have put Hellboy somewhere over there.
Thor 9,334 Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 Yes, that's a good one. Unfortunately, I had to omit a great many superhero scores -- especially from the 90's onwards.
alicebrallice 134 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 yay! I'm listening to it right now while cooking.
Incanus 5,884 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I took a small listen of the second episode and found Norwegian surprisingly easy to understand even though I am familiar only with Swedish. I am going to listen to both of the shows when I have time. Keep up the good work Thor!
Thor 9,334 Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 Cool!I try to enunciate as clearly as possible, to make it understandable for other Scandinavians -- not only Norwegians. So if you can understand some of it as a Finnish, maybe I can expand the relevance to the Nordic countries!
alicebrallice 134 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 thor, how long does it take for you to come up with stuff for a new episode, record, edit it etc?
Thor 9,334 Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 thor, how long does it take for you to come up with stuff for a new episode, record, edit it etc? About a day -- a) conceptualization (this may actually take a few days to properly 'digest' in my mind), b) writing some keywords for a manuscript, c) recording voice, d) editing voice, e) editing in clips, f) editing a master recording. The SUPER HERO programme took about 8 hours. The conceptualization bit is the tricky part...that's why I can only have new programs about every 14 days or so, as one's mundane everyday activities have a tendency to intrude. alicebrallice 1
Brónach 1,321 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Listening to it.I'm unfamiliar with some of the scores so it's quite nice. I didn't know The Phantom.
Thor 9,334 Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 THE PHANTOM is fantastic! (the score, that is, not the film). As you say, Chaac, the program can hopefully be used as a moderated 'sampler' for music clips even for those who don't understand my words. And then if you like what you're hearing, you can always check out more samples and even full albums at Youtube, Spotify, iTunes and whatnot.

Thor 9,334 Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Thank you, Stefan. It's somewhat discouraging when you spend -- in this case -- 10-12 hours on a program, only to have it wither away with 28 views on facebook, for example. Gone. I should really hire a PR person.

Sharkissimo 1,977 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Why 'listener friendly?' Why not let the listener decide for him/herself how he/she feels about a piece?
Thor 9,334 Posted September 13, 2013 Author Posted September 13, 2013 Why 'listener friendly?' Why not let the listener decide for him/herself how he/she feels about a piece?Just not to scare away the people who won't listen to stingers and loads of tenuto suspense strings. For most of us this isn't a problem, really, but maybe to the public in general.
