I would love Gerard Butler, but I guess he's too old? (54)
My next choice is Tom Hardy.

Exquisite, elegant score with nice melodies.
The thing is I didn't catch any recurring theme on first listen...

From the cover, it might look like a cheesy comedy, and perhaps it is. But one shouldn't be fooled by the cover. Remember how WE'RE NO ANGELS, despite its cover, housed a rollicking George Fenton action score? While this is no action score, it's a gorgeous religioso score that channels wonderful, lithurgic choir. No comedy in sight. I'm ALWAYS sold when it comes to this religious sound, so this quickly rocketed into my top 10 Sarde when I discovered it a few weeks back.
Just listened to it too.
Wasn't so interested in the choir music, as it sounded more like source music, but in the rest. Quite good music!

Another expensive purchase from ebay!
I really should purchase blu-rays as soon as they become available, and not to wait until they become OOP!

Although studio Ghibli has done much better movies, I was glad that the Boy and the Heron won the Oscar.

Classic!
I don't even love the movie but I bought it nonetheless to support magnificent restorations, like the Arrow is one (unlike the latest Cameron 4Ks which seem to be awful!)

103 euros!! Another one from ebay, a release coming from a box.
4k of course.

IIRC his book correctly, Rozsa said you have to listen to a work at least twice, so you can get the shape of it, before you can judge it fully.
Ah, I see!

Miklos Rozsa would say you need to listen to it again.
You compare this to Rozsa?

I'm afraid it didn't do anything to me.
Maybe, besides some old scores that I love, I'm not that into big fantasy-adventure scores anymore...

This is a great one. Big, bold and religoso, with choir and operatic solo voices, among other things. True, some of those "contemporary ostinati" here and there aren't that interesting, but for the most part a very impressive work by Mr. Donaggio in the latter part of his career. (Sorry I didn't mention to it to you before, filmmusic, but I only just discovered it myself as I'm trying to build my Donaggio collection a little bit).
I just finished listening to it!
I agree with your assessment. I'm not familiar at all with Donaggio, but this was impressive indeed.

I just noticed this (I think). The extended version is not restored, right? And it looks okay?
I don't know. I haven't watched it. I watched only the theatrical version.

Are these Dragon scores that good?
I tried to listen to the first one, but I found it too bombastic for my ears, as I find most of Powell's music.
I found it curious that all three of them were also released as sheet music books from Omni Music.

I just discovered this release from Neumation's facebook.
I don't know if anyone grew up with this series but this was one of my most wanted TV animation soundtracks.
Alas, the 17 minutes of this release don't include all the music cues that I remembered from the show (I just browsed the first episode to confirm that there was other music indeed too).
Neumation says this must be a teaser. I hope so!

as it was reconstructed by ear from the film (they didn’t access written scores for it)
Hmmmm. I wonder then what this new Neumation book will be. Will it be the ear reconstruction or the original manuscripts engraved?

You should be. It’s one of Barry’s best and my personal favorite!
Yavar
I listened to the complete re-recording.
I'm afraid it didn't do much for me.

I have a quick question to non-US residents that buy from ebay:
Besides the price of the product and the shipping, ebay adds a VAT to my purchase, increasing the total sum of money I'm paying.
Does that mean that I won't pay customs?
What is that VAT?

You know, I never got around to listening the complete recordings.
I only listened to the osts once, if not at all...

They have posted another “coming soon” title: John Barry’s The Last Valley.

I'm not familiar with this score.
I would love Barry's DANCES WITH WOLVES though..
What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)

I have seen the film once or twice, but honestly I don't remember a thing about Barry's score.
I am not sure I even noticed it in the film.
