  1. My take is that the movie's faults are at a much more granular level. I've only seen the movie the one time in the cinema (premiere showing, of course, I'm still a fan!), but what bugged me during the movie and coming out of the theatre was the follwing: - Dr. Voller shouldn't have survived that hit to the head - Running on top of the train was clearly CGI and it looked as if Indy was made out of rubber - Sad Indy feeling out of touch with the times - Helena Shaw leaving Indy to die during the encounter with the mob (great way to build sympathy for your new female character - NOT!) - The whole CIA plot is pointless - The CIA woman’s death seems unnecessary cruel and pointless - Helena Shaw's ex showing up is pointless - Annoying dialouge from Helena Shaw's charater during Tuk Tuk race, "I am strong and independent" (show don't tell, remember?) - Sallah showing up is pointless - Antonio Banderas’ character dying seems unnecessary cruel and pointless - Archimedes doesn't do anything - pointless. Why even go to ancient Greece at all? - Indy is gracelessly knocked out at the end - The relationship problems with Marion is solved magically and feels unnatural. - Repeat dialogue "where does it hurt" is annoying. Edit: I didn’t mind the horse scene in particular. But I do remember thinking there was a rather odd cut when the horse jumped out of the train’s way. Something about the angle of the jump and the speed of the train made it seem unnatural.
  2. Such a weird thing to put in the movie. He should have straight up died there. Not only was DoD a bad Indy movie, it was also a bad movie. It is beyond me how that movie has an appreciation thread here on the forum. Denial much? If this hadn’t been an Indiana Jones adventure, people would’ve hated this. Now it “kind of” gets a pass (but not really). Even die hard Indy fans confess that it’s mediocre at best. And that’s ok. The movie is a product of many hands, countless meetings and business decisions, and the franchise is not an infallible man, but just that: a product made to be consumed and for whatever reason the creators messed up the recepie. Also, a bad entry to the franchise doesn’t take away any of the magic from the previous films.
  3. Too much money for me. I’ll wait another 30 years for the expansion and then complain about the shipping cost and/or import tax.
  4. My mom got me the John Williams Conducts John Williams Star Wars The Skywalker Symphony CD during a trip to London back in ’93. I was 13 years old. That was my first soundtrack CD, and my first introduction to proper film scores. Back home in Stockholm, Sweden, my interest in film music took off, and I remember the excitement when I found the Star Wars Anthology Box in the biggest music shop in the city centre at the time. It must’ve been in 1994 or 1995, so I must’ve been 14 or 15. The box set was locked inside one of those glass counters where they kept all the box sets (a rare thing in those days - these days box sets are a dime a dussin). I remember looking at the cover wondering what music was hidden in side that box. All I knew was that there was a ton of music missing from my single Star Wars CD. I used to visit that shop a lot, and just look at it, my hands pressed against the glass. I remember thinking with anxiety that I would get to the shop one day and that it wouldn’t be there - that it’s been sold to someone else. I was so happy when I saved up enough money to buy it and bring it home. I played those CDs to death. I transferred them to tape and played them in my Walkman all through high school. In many ways, I guess that buying that box was when my true love for soundtracks, and the intricate world that it is, revealed itself.
  5. I thought that the title of this review was funny. Rebel Moon: At least its better than The Rise Of Skywalker (Den Of Geek) Faint praise. 😂
  6. The quote I’m referring to had more to do about her son being a soundtrack enthusiast and how he had put up a few suggestions to his mom about additional pieces to perform - “mom, you’ve gotta record this!”. It didn’t specify which tracks, but it’s not hard to imagine that it was some of the “rarer” pieces that usually doesn’t get re-recoded (Dracula, Cinderella Liberty).
  7. Yes, but for the life of me, I can’t recall where I read it. Maybe even an Instagram post?
  8. I dunno. I had the impression that Anne-Sophie takes a lot input in which songs to put forward to John from her son, who is a movie music fan. Maybe he’s even a reader of the forum! Abd there were some “obscurities” on Across The Stars. As for the violin concerto CD. So why not for the third time around?
  9. I hope they dust of Yes, Giorgio for any new studio sessions. That’d be great in an arrangement for Anne-Sophie!
  10. I’ve been an avid collector for 30 years, and still I “only” own 75 % of the content of this box. And I’d wager that’s a pretty decent percentage! Still, lots of the stuff that is on here that I never got isn’t really “rare” - it’s just that I never pulled the trigger on the OSTs. I just figured I’d “get to it later”. Thats about five discs worth of content that I don’t own. This box is a great way to “catch up” on a lot of that music!
  11. Yeah it’s a beaut! It’s a limited edition Macanudo with a metal band - not many made. A rich cigar that I’ve only got a few of and I save ‘em for special occasions. It felt fitting for the soundtrack.
  12. Slightly expanded 😂😂😂😂 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Still gon’ double-double dip though.
  13. I get the frustration about expanded JW not being able to stream... On the other hand, if it were... maybe "the higher ups" would decide there'd be no need for a physical product. Pick your poison.
  14. I don’t want to turn this into a pissing contest, but I ordered from Music Box (on release day, of course), and got this email: Unfortunately, one or more items are currently pre-orders or out of stock and this may cause a slight delay for delivery. Your order will ship has soon as it is complete. Thanks, Solo!
