La-La Land Records

Next release?
21/22 Jump Street and Arrow Season 2 go up for sale on Tuesday September 23rd at 12PM PST.

After that, MV should pre-announce their October 7th titles on Tuesday, September 30th, and they will go up for sale on Tuesday October 7th at 12PM PST.

Does La-La Land give clues?
One week before a batch goes up for sale, Michael V Gerhard (MV) of LLLR will post on LLLR's official facebook page what titles will be in the batch (included prices and limited quantity numbers). However, full track lists, cover art, and samples are typically not posted until the release day at 1pm PST when they go on sale (though, the track lists arrive in the form of an official LLLR email sometime that day before they go on sale). Additionally, sometimes information leaks out before MV's official pre-announcement, either in the form of MV's avatar on the FSM message board, or composer tweets/interviews.

Varese (Club, Limited Edition and Encore lines)

Next release?
Hopefully May, but there's no way to tell.

How often do they release new titles?
For many years, typically 4 batches where released per year, though in 2011 and 2012 they only had two "normal" batches (made up of multiple Club titles) each. Every once in a while a title is released by itself, and not part of a batch (ie Star Trek, Spartacus, Hermann at Fox Box)

Does Varese give clues?
None at all. Randomly without warning this page will be updated to say that releases are coming (typically on the following Monday after the post). Then Sunday night at midnight PST the titles are revealed as they go up for sale on their website. Some times the titles are ready to ship immediately, though most of the time they begin shipping one or two weeks later.

I hope people find this thread useful. I noticed that people were always asking "When is the next La La Land release again?" "How often does Intrada release new titles again?" type questions, so hopefully this will provide those answers. I also decided to include recent releases from all 5 labels in case you don't follow the individual threads, you might learn about a CD you want to get here.

If I have any wrong information above or you have other suggestions, let me know!

This sticky thread is a great idea Jason. It is much easier to collectively get the info on the upcoming releases in one thread than try to find the information in the respective threads where there is so much discussion going on. :)

Ars superior est vita hominum.

"We pop out and come into the world and music is there. We didn't invent it - it's all organised in the atmosphere by divinity or whatever. It's a miracle." - John Williams-

I think music is a stream of some kind. It could be blood. It could be water. It could be ether. Whatever it is it seems to be a living, organic force that’s in motion, that serves humanity and is part of humanity and part of what describes us as humans. We sing, play, dance, all the things that we do. And there is a vibrant and great literature we have been given. ... As musicians, we join the stream. We swim in the stream with all the other millions of music makers. It’s a life force, a strong one, surrounding us and we are part of it. -John Williams-

This gets Koray's Seal of Approval. (Y)
"Close Encounters to me is as good a piece of concert music as the 20th century has produced. Everybody fixates on... the Superman fanfare, or Star Wars - Main Theme, or the Raiders March. It's what happens after that, it's not the big popular hook where you go: 'My God John Williams is a genius.' Y'know it's the stuff which is maybe less hooky and less hummable, but is great art." - Hans Zimmer

So I've decided that I'm going to start adding a new post to this thread everytime I update the main post, meaning every time a new title and/or release date is officially announced by one of these 5 labels. The reason being I saw some posts from people who didn't know about the recent Varese batch, etc. So hopefully have a new post indicator on this thread when there's a new title will help make sure people don't miss anything.

For now I'll catch up on the updates that have been made since this thread was first created. Oh, and I've also begun adding links to the main post to the official pages of the releases.

Oh shit son!
