  1. Er--how? The TF march is rather effective in the cloning facility.
  2. The Phantom Menace - a complete, unedited version. Shadows of the Empire has some amazing cues like "The Destruction of Xizor's Palace," but it's a mere fifty minutes long, and does little to tie itself to the previously established Star Wars music. Attack of the Clones is a good score, but its incompleteness (the actual score, not the album) is detrimental. Haven't heard the Ewok scores. :?
  3. Ohhh, you definitely want to check out his older works. (And don't mind my hypocrisy!)
  4. In chronological order, I believe. Star Wars (1997 RCA Victor edition) The Empire Strikes Back (1997 RCA Victor edition) Return of the Jedi (1997 RCA Victor edition) Hook Schindler's List Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace The Patriot Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace Ultimate Edition Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 40 Years of John Williams Music Music from the Star Wars Saga Could've sworn I had more than that... :?
  5. I voted for "I pre-ordered them before reading any of the DVD specifications," which is not quite accurate, as I haven't placed any pre-orders, but I was certain that I would buy the DVDs even before they were announced.
  6. Well, I VERY much doubt synth music will end up on the soundtrack, though that "heroic" theme could make an appearance.
  7. Well, after evaluating the currently released information on Episode III I concluded that it will probably be a better movie than the first two prequels, though not as great as the Trilogy. Just an opinion, though. We'll find out in a year.
  8. No role? He was credited on the cover. All of the cues recycled from Sorceror's Stone were probably arranged by Ross, and there are quite a few of them. He was probably also responsible for the short, inconsequential cues like that statement of "Hedwig's Theme" accompanying the camera's movement from Hogwarts Castle to Herbology Class.
  9. Yep, and the music sounds all...orchestral, unlike the cartoony crap they play on the show.
  10. "Stop right there, old-time liberal!" Right...I guess this forum has a no-politics rule. Back to Williams. There have been other references to him on The Simpsons. People have mentioned the Indy spoof, but there's also a show where the family attends a concert of Star Wars music, cheapened by fake lasers and other attention-grabbing effects. "John Williams must be rolling in his grave!" Homer remarks. There's also a show where Williams conducts music from Itchy and Scratchy. I believe it's the one where Flanders goes out with that movie star.
  11. Yoda from Walmart. The hell with visual unity. I have the TPM UE (have recently gotten the OST, though), the ANH slip case, and the ESB and ROTJ jewel cases. What matters is the music inside. ...And that's why I'll soon be putting these CDs with their appealing cover art and such in the closet in favor of two blank CDs labelled "Star Wars: Complete Versions." (The first for the Prequels, the second for the Sequels.)
  12. There is a snowball fight mentioned in at least one of the Harry Potter books, but it only takes up a couple paragraphs, and it strikes me as a very cuttable scene.
  13. Hah, the TV show is on: http://www.theforce.net/holonet "I asked him about Star Wars' future and he got really excited and told me in thinly veiled comments that it is going to TV (live-action) . He couldn't go into details because he was under a legal contract. So I asked this gentlemen if the show was pre-EP4, he said maybe with a smile, then I asked about Vader, and he had the same response, same with Chewbacca, same with Tarkin. Anyways he said Lucasfilm was really excited about this, and he did mention that there were to be no Episodes 7-9." So have you seen an advanced screening then, or is it just "Lucas' track record isn't too good"?
  14. A friend of mine has a theory on stormtrooper inaccuracy: "...We almost never see them in a combat situation where they're allowed to kill the enemy. In the Death Star, Luke, Han, and Leia were allowed to escape, so that they could be followed to Yavin IV. Same with Bespin. Think about the beginning of ANH, when the stormtroopers board Tantive IV. End result? Quick and efficient takeover."
  15. Wow, the May 3rd show was great, a big improvement over last week's. Political jokes.
  16. Well, for both films the concert suites ended up in the credits, but I'm not sure if that counts as "written for the film."
  17. Woo. I don't know what they're thinking in Britain concerning that "inspired by" line.
  18. Hey, that's awesome. I like the subtle use of Star Wars themes and the comical motif. A forty-minute score will be great.
  19. Hmm, it's been a bit more than four weeks...
  20. Hey, that'd be great. Timpani beats and ethnic instruments for the confrontation with Voldemort!
  21. Not the concert suite, but its use in the final battle (not counting the parts that were tracked).
  22. The extended editions are more direct translations of the books, but the theatrical releases are better as films. Still, I can't say "no" to forty-five minutes of new footage!
  23. Wow, I was wondering when people would start yelling at Peter Jackson for re-releasing his films like George Lucas does. You'd actually be paying triple, because the extended editions cost about twice as much as the regular DVDs.
