But everything else (I don't even remember, what it was) didn't really click with me.
Haven't you heard The umbrellas of Cherbourg? That main theme is to die for.
Other than that, I have listened to 2-3 scores but I don't remember anything of them.

I imagine it will be the same exact transfer as the Criterion one.
with better encode hopefully since Criterion is not strong in that department!

I wonder if i should sell the box and get this, since I have the standalone JP release too.
I am also curious to find out what's new (if any) here.
-
If it is The Lost World, I hope it's the exact same programme like the boxset version, or else I will feel compelled to buy it again!

I refer to some of my neighbours as Klopeks. Only behind their backs, of course.
Hehe. Why? What do they do?

I didn't know it's only out on DVD. Wasn't it quite a successful film?
There is an Italian blu-ray that isn't very good and a Japanese one that is better.
Yes, I'm equally surprised that it isn't out yet in USA/UK.

I love The Hours. I hope a blu-ray, or even better a 4K disc is announced soon.
Anyway, I just watched:
My favorite Kong movie. I saw it first in my childhood and it marked me.
I don't understand why people say it's a bad film.
And the Kong himself, is more real than the Jackson's CGI.
My favorite scene is the whole sacrifice scene.

In my Goldsmith marathon I distinguished this theme here, albeit a bit kitsch-y:
Those first 4 chords of the theme remind me of some other theme. Well, they must be fairly common..
But I love it, nonetheless.

I remember comparing Event Horizon to Sphere, which I think is much better.
-
Decent horror sci-fi that I had watched in the theater and remember liking it. So, I got the 4k blu-ray.
Well, I could do without it honestly. Anyway...
Note: I'm not a fan of the opening and ending credits techno music score.

Omni says in his facebook that:
QuoteJNH and I have a plan already for the next book.
I really hope it's Waterworld!! One of the best action scores ever written!
-
I haven't seen this in soooo many years, and I just bought the 4k blu-ray!
The score, which is a masterpiece in my book elevates the film much, not that it isn't good by itself that is.
Great film all around!
But... I still haven't understood (beware spoilers about the plot)
Spoilerwho killed whom!
Who did Beth Kill, if any, and who did Catherine kill, if any..
in the film they say in the end that Beth did the killings (the .38 pistol found in her apartment used on Nilsen, etc. etc. But in the internet they say Catherine did all the killings.
Talk about confusing....

Already 33 in, in my Goldsmith marathon, and I'm still in 1968.
Among others, I immediately distinguished this:
A great western theme, that is interwoven in many iterations inside the score.
I had noted it from the film I had seen long in the past.
Look for it! (I mean the score)
If I have to mention any indifferent scores, my mind goes to Sebastian (1968).

This is one of the greatest cues ever, but I've never understood how 12 tone music is written.
Can anyone recommend any good book on that?

The Ten Commandments
This (or Giant) was robbed of a best picture Oscar from Around the world in 80 days which I watched the other day, and I found boring.
* * *
Now, I watched the 4K disc of this film which was great (the remaster I mean).
This was one of my favorite films in my childhood. Well, it didn't hold up too well for me now.
I learned to appreciate the first film more, and now I like it much better. Plus it has the original Williams score.
This one, in terms of score, was a copy. I wish Thorne had created some original material, or maybe a theme for the villains.

Unusual choices!
I'll keep an eye for them.
-
I was curious @Yavar Moradi.
You are known as one of the biggest Goldsmith fans, right?
What are your 5 favorite scores of him? Or you have mentioned this elsewhere here?
Βy the way, in my Goldsmith marathon I'm in the mid 60s, and A Patch of Blue already stands out for me!
No wonder it was nominated for an Oscar too!

At last, one of my favorite films is coming to 4k!

You should watch Ran.
Are you referring to me?
Yes, it's in my to-watch list. (although I really don't like the teal bath of the latest UHD-blurays).

Has anyone seen any Kurosawa?
I have watched 3-4 films. I loved High and Low, Seven Samurai not so much.
Last night I decided to watch Stray Dog.
Well, it was a chore to sit through it. I slept in the 2nd half, and I put it again this morning to see it.
I slept again!! Hahaha! Then I decided it was not for me, so I don't know what happens.
I'm sad when that happens, especially for films that are considered masterpieces...

It's a new movie so you're not going to watch it anyway.
Or did you change your rules?
Haha.. No, I didn't change my rules.
I was just curious because of the hype for it.

if you count re-recordings as it being released you mean? Maybe... it looks like most of the items on this list is TV work, though there does seem to be some films listed here too
https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=140075&forumID=1&archive=0
Yeah, I count re-recordings too, but I don't think they are that many.
Well, it is evident from the link I posted earlier (https://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?/topic/32621-jerry-goldsmith-complete-motion-picture-discography/) that every film score is released. (those scores that say [no release yet], have been released too).
It's really astounding to think of it.

I hope not. I'm more keen on symphonic pieces than solo instruments pieces.
I guess we'll find out tomorrow...
