  1. His site lists it as "Jyah-kee-noh." Wikipedia says the Italian pronuncation is "Jah-kee-noh." I've heard people who know him pronounce it "Jee-uh-kee-noh." He seems to pronounce it most like the second one, I think, which is about how I pronounce it. I any case, the G is soft, the ch is pronounced as a k, and the second i is pronounced like a long e. The pronunciation of the first (or first and second) syllable's vowels is the part people can't seem to decide on. EDIT: That's not entirely true, Charlie - the main theme is heard several times during "Nailin' the Kelvin," before Kirk is even born, and for all I know it might be used in the unreleased material before that cue, too. I think it still applies as Kirk's theme, since the music accompanies his mother being rushed throught he corridors of the Kelvin. That bump on Winona Kirk? That's James Tiberius Kirk in there.
  2. I think the theme could be for Starfleet, since it accompanies all of the cadets preparing to board the shuttles in the hangar scene, and a fleet shot in Enterprising Young Men. The Federation Theme or The Starfleet Theme sounds appropriate.
  3. Goldsmith's and Horner's take on Spock were serving different functions. Goldsmith's was to hilight the lack of emotion in both Vejur and Spock, which plays into the story arc they both share in searching for something beyond pure logic, the idea that Pure Logic is not enough, that the human capacity to leap beyond logic is essential for wisdom and understanding, and life has meaning that cannot be expressed with Logic alone. Horner's is to provide an emotional connection to Spock and his friendship with Kirk, so that Spock's death is more emotionally impactful in the finale. It's like comparing apples and oranges, and if I were to choose a preferred interpretation, it would be based on preference rather than suitability.
  4. Well, I listened to it on my way home from Comic-Con. I swear I picked out instruments I didn't even hear, because they were doubling up others. Extremely well done, and I'd definately say it's worth getting.
  5. Can he cook, or can't he? He doesn't believe in the No-Win Scenario.
  6. Oh my good bloody god in heaven !!!! The Wrath Of Khan Expanded !!!!! YEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice one FSM !!!!!! I'm so right there !!!!
  7. Good thing I wasn't drinking coffe, or I'd have sprayed the screen and keyboard !!! That was FUNNY !!!
  8. The Mummy, Rudy, Glory (Region 2)? But I know what you mean. I think they stopped the practice due to the licensing/piracy issues.
  9. The Desert chase is probably one of my favorite action cues from Raiders. It is as complex as it needs to be, but it retains it's clarity. I don't know how anyone could really regard it as overrated. It's an absolute classic !!!
  10. "Putting Together"? Do you know something we don't know?
  11. I may get a look at something related to Iron Man 2 at Comic-Con. Debney has done some good work, so this could be interesting. I actually like the score to the first film, matches the fun ride of the movie.
  12. Superman: The Movie (Rhino). I really need that FSM Blue Box. Unfortunately, I lack the $100+ needed
  13. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be, and actually quite fun. Not sure how shagging dogs "dominating" each other or the female Decepticon with the freaky tounge fit into a kids film. Skids and Mudflap are the worst kind of stereotyping, though the Hollywood Shuffle is still the Hollywood Norm I guess.
  14. from http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cf...1&archive=0 Fan Bloody Tastic !!!!
  15. There probably a great many CDs I don't have, but I will say that the one that I'd really love to get is the FSM Blue Box (Superman: The Music). From what I've heard, this one is worth every one of those $100+.
  16. I suspect the former, since this has been on the web for a while.
  17. I'm familiar with this high-topped footwarmer "Behold The Narada" is actually from the end of Track 6 on the soundtrack. "Red Matter" sounds like it was extracted from the End Titles. I suspect the beginning of "The Big Jump" was edited from some of the third act cues on the soundtrack (not sure which) with some edits to repeat sections. It is also likely that the unreleased portion, which I enjoyed greatly, were taken from Star Trek D-A-C. Someone went to some trouble to edit this together, and in some ways represents a better idea for the score presentation than the CD.
  18. Boo !!! Still waiting on the rest of that Cue Analysis
  19. For me this is a no brainer. 5 for film, 5 for score. Absolute classic !!!
  20. I believe you mean to say Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, yes? Oops ... yes.
