  1. Asking members of a John Williams page to rate Raiders of the Lost Ark is like asking Apple to rate the Macintosh
  2. The Concord album, except for the Desert Chase. For that, I dig out my DCC CD. My playlist for Raiders includes the extra tracks on the bonus CD as well. I dumped my Temple import once I got the Concord set. More music, movie order, and remastered to boot.
  3. I'm a sucker for a fantastic, action-packed, highly thematic score with an absolute, rip-roaring classic adventure movie. The Indiana Jones scores, especially Raiders and Temple, are among my top scores by Williams. And of course, Star Wars (the ORIGINAL trilogy)
  4. The issue I actually have with the Star Trek soundtrack is that there is a lot of great material from the movie that is just not there: - The cue for Captain Robau taking the shuttle to the Narada for "negotiations". - The cue leading up to the Space Drop. - The fight on the Drill platform. - The music for Spock beaming down to rescue the Vulcan Council and his parets in the Katric Ark. - The cue for the Enterprising emerging from Titan's atmosphere. There is a lot of good stuff that should be released.
  5. Caprica (Bear McCreary). Very interesting work in many ways. Very different to Galactica, but I can still hear Galactica in there. "A Tauron Sacrifice", cue 8, is really nice. This guy needs a major, A-level feature thrown his way. I also listened to Temple of Doom last week. Can't get enough of "To Pankot Palace" with Mola Ram's theme for the Bats. I'm a sucker for big, dark score cues I think.
  6. Complete+Alternates would fit on 2 CDs. But such a release would definately be in my collection.
  7. Whereas six takes of the SW Main Theme is okay (it's on the 97 release). Basically, I don't think any Trek rerelease will be for anyone but guys like us. Even with the success of 2.0, it's very unlikely that it'll make mainstreamers go out in their droves to purchase the music. Which is why I'd like to see them go all out. I realise it's very unlikely to happen, but it doesn't stop me from wanting it to happen. Perhaps, but even among us soundtrack fans, it still needs to be a good listening experience. The Star Wars 2CD set was a special case in a way, since the first recordings of the Star Wars theme were a hidden bonus on the last track of disk 2. Something akin to the 97 version would be fantastic for Star Trek: TMP. One cue that should be released is the film version of "The Force Field", which has a very different Blaster Beam introduction. A third CD with outtakes, with the other side the complete score in DVD-A/5.1 DD would be stupendous.
  8. Give me som time to ... recall the data from our computers ...
  9. If it was most other scores, I'd agree, but for me, TMP deserves to have every little bit they can find from the archives released. Hell, I'd happily see them sacrifice a reissue of TVH for more TMP. I would LOVE to see The Motion Picture get a great presentation, but 6 takes of the Main Titles or Ilia's Theme does not make for a good listening experience except for guys like us. Look at the Lord Of The Rings: Complete Recordings, or the Superman Blue Box. THAT is my ideal for a Star Trek Movie Release. There is enough room, with most of the alternate versions (though not every take) of the music, on 2 80 minute CDs. It would need to be remastered to the same or better sound quality as the 20th Anniversary set, and include liner notes explaining the music in detail, but it does need to be a good listening experience. 6 takes of the Main Theme with Jerry Goldsmith counting down to conduct each cue is not something to put on a commercial CD release. Complete or Expanded of the following would work for me: - TMP - TWOK - TSFS - TFF - TUC TVH, GEN and the TNG films are not in the same league, though I love them all. An expanded release of Giacchino's Star Trek is something I personally would like to see as well.
  10. Star Trek: TMP has a total of 120 Minutes of score in the movie, with another 20 minutes for 6 alternate cues. There were a number of different takes of various cues, which would be interesting to hear, but would not be necessary for a "Complete Score" release. Basically, the score heard in the movie, with the addition of extra material, could relatively easily fit on 2 CDs without having multiple takes of the cues in the movie.
  11. Caprica (Bear McCreary). Got it at Dark Delicacies today. Got lots of stuff signed.
  12. LaLaLand, Are You Listening? There's a Goldmine in this score ^_^
  13. To those concerned: thanks for the Main Title edit !!!
  14. The podcast for this score is a lot of fun.
  15. What I wouldn't give for an expanded release of this score.
  16. Awesome, thanks !!! Has anyone got the title card edit of Enterprising Young Men? If not, I'll have to try and recreate it from memory.
  17. I so want that foot warmer, or an official release, which I would get regardless.
  18. It wouldn't surprise me if he did record it separately. Although he likes to keep things together, he probably still needed control. In "Hella Bar Talk", for instance, I noticed that the percussion is mixed very differently, and there is a horn line when Kirk is looking at the Enterprise being built on his bike that is excluded. I suspect he may have done things in a way that would give the mixers some options. Using the choir on it's own while the Narada is destroyed, then bringing in the orchestra as we see Nero's face was pretty powerful. Like a victory in a way, but more a sense of closure for Nero in a way.
  19. Sorry to barge in here, just wanted to say that I loved the score, and have read this thread as a Lurker for some time. I would love to see an expanded or complete release of this score, especially with some of the music for the Space dive sequences, and the drill platform fight (and Sulu's Hero Shot). There was a fair amount of music in this film that deserves to be released. Same goes for Star Trek II and Star Trek III. FSM? GNP? Varese? Anyone? Whoever gets to do those 3 would be sitting on a potential goldmine. Until that happens, I'll have to await some nice, high quality footwear I would definately love to get ahold of a complete version of the score. The chorus-only version of the Narada's destruction music is superb.
  20. This is really great idea !!! Do you have the track listing and graphic files you created for this? I was thinking of assembling some of the additional Trailer and available source cues to make a more rounded soundtrack, and your work would make a great template.
