  1. Here lies Viktor. P.S. Don't wake him up...period! Asleep!!! That explains it!!
  2. And what a great download that was................NOT!.............was NOT!................as in..............NOT!
  3. Yeah...I got it around 12:30am last night... I went to one Walmart that said CDs didn't arrive until morning and only the movies were put out at midnight because only a certain company could put CDS out. After trying to tell the guy I wasn't an idiot...and realizing he was an asshole...I went to another, more helpful Walmart where and employee went straight to the back and found a copy for me. What is with these stockers that makes them think they are the coolest thing since sliced bread?
  4. This is absolutely laughable...Someone get me RCA Victor on the line....
  5. Especially since the bastards at WalMart won't update their page on sale day... thanks for hyping the download...making it the first thing I see when I open the jewel case... Once again a big FU to SONY CLASSICAL....but I should say...A HUGE THANK YOU FOR THE AMAZING SOUNDTRACK, JOHNNY!!!!!!
  6. Thanks...don't take my word for the DVD...check it out and lets see what everyone else thinks....this alas is only my opinion. As far as comments on the Saga Symphony...please....I need the feedback so I can more finely tune this thing up...especially if we want to put video to it. Post those opinions in the thread so we can communally work at it. Thanks!!
  7. Nah...its probably SONY CLASSICAL's cloak and daggar marketing campaign....They messed it up so bad poor WalMart is marketing TWO versions of the CD...one with the correct track list...the other with a ****ed up track list. Someone at MF.com called and they were told one was the soundtrack, the other was the score...WTF? Well Sony....congrats...a bit FU from all of us to all of you!
  8. Well...I just got done watching it... "Star Wars: A Musical Journey" isn't really quite fair. "Star Wars: A Collection of Self-Contained Music Videos that have NO REAL Narrative Save a FEW Threads and Ian McDiarmid's Introductions that ALMOST Come Close to Maybe Making This Collection a Cohesive Work" would have made a much better title....I mean...it wouldn't be misleading. It is an interesting watch, but most of the scenes shown in most of the videos are a jumble mess of images, and some poorly cut. I have no problem if, for example: "A Narrow Escape" is going to combine many narrow escapes from many of the films cut to "The Asteroid Field"...just don't have the intro talk exclusively about TESB's narrow escape...at least warn me I'll see the asteroid chase from AOTC. OR, if "A Daring Rescue" is going to show many daring rescues, don't hype the Death Star escape and make me watch Leia rescue Han from carbonite while listening to the lament for Obi-Wan just before "TIE Attack". Further, someone explain how "A Sanctuary Moon" has anything to do with the Gungan battle from TPM being set to "The Forest Battle Concert Suite"...I mean really. This is frustrating...especially since I was expecting a "Musical Journey" through the Saga. The narrative, while slightly dry...yields the impression that the forthcoming videography in chronological in documenting the story. Worse than disappointment are the few moments where the editors show they could have in fact done just that. The concluding two videos ("A Life Redeemed" and "A New Day Dawns"), in particular, illustrate that a cohesive storytelling effort would have been magical...and ultimately more successful. Thankfully...this is only a freebie...not a hyped release, doomed for disappointment. What I'll do is take this as inspiration and ask for people's help in cutting video to my SYMPHONY FOR A SAGA...in order to create the ultimate musical journey. Check out what I'm interested in doing at http://musicofstarwars.tripod.com. Thanks...T - OUT!
  9. Well...you are supposed to be able to go to www.walmart.com/musicdownloads/starwars and enter a claim code...but the site isn't up yet. Bastards. Additionally the sticker on the front announces it as an interview with John Williams so I wonder why it took so freakin' long to find out what the bonus downloads would be.
  10. Hey all...got the soundtrack at WalMart in Mesa, Arizona...with a new catalog: SK 94480. As for the bonus track...included instructions say to go to www.walmart.com/musicdownloads/starwars and enter your claim code. The site, however, is not up yet...and I'm not sure if the code can be used more than once...so not posting or asking for it. Funny...the plastic had a sticker on it announcing the bonus download as an interview with John Williams...so what the hell did they keep us in the dark about. Haven't watched the DVD or given it a listen yet...going to all night. Its all you can do when you work from home and set your hours!!! BTW...the anti piracy thing is big as hell...AND on both discs.
  11. It was a hell of a lot of fun to do...and if anyone could work with me...I'd like to make a DVD to go along with it. I just don't have the equipment on my PC or know-how to get into video editing. So if anyone wants to help make a two hour plus music video with two audio tracks (dialogue/FX & isolated score)....let me know.
  12. Oh...........a lame as dialogue mix of BOTH (Which I have and is a waste)...........or an interview? Since when is an interview count as a bonus track? Oh well...better than nothing.
  13. Sorry, I think SACD isn't much of a leap forward...or enough to be enduring...just like HDDVD won't last. Most consumers don't care. And while I would love to jump on board...since I listen to most of my music while working at the computer or on the road...for neither 5.1 are worth it...upgrading and buying discs that won't work in my car are kind of pointless to me. I think the music industry needs to think outside the "disc" for the next revolution. Same with film (Although holographic discs ...blue/red laser combined ...are very exciting...but that's another four years out just to demo...)
  14. Gee...its a good thing Sony's page doesn't clear anything up...look at this and specifically the track listing scroll on the right: link
  15. I'm pretty sure Enter Lord Vader is the Seperatist Slaughter...
  16. Can we have an option that is..."If they do I'll have to gouge my eyes out with a spoon because that's the lamest idea ever!"
  17. Most likely we'll be bitching that we still have to burn a copy of the CD so we can listen to the bonus track in context with the rest of the album. Either that or we'll be worrying about trying to get copies of all the different downloadable bonus tracks. (If Target, WalMart, and ITunes have different tracks...are there any others?)
  18. Wait....Target has a bonus download too? I'm starting to think they are all the same bonus track. Regardless, I know WalMart will beat or match that price...
  19. I can't imagine it being better than the mp3s at all. The compression for the listening parties is even more extreme than what was used for the 128 kbps mp3s. Neil Especially considering how awesome the 256k soundtrack leak sounds. I'd rather listen to the 256k than the stream...
  20. With Acid...it is a bit tempermental with WIN XP...so save often. Nothing worse than having the program freeze up and losing work after you've got it perfect. Usually the restore will work...but I have lost some stuff because I forgot to save...
  21. The reason for the Mos Eisly fanfare was that it made a better transition from the burning of the homestead to the scene when Luke returns to the sandcrawler. If you remember...at the end of the first sequence there is a cut to Death Star fanfare that i wanted to omit. As the music swells at the end, there is only so much that can be used to replace it. You're right...about the changes being different to listen to. I agree...but this is a whole new way to listen to the music...which I like. For cutting and mixing, I used ACID. With that program it was very easy to fade, change volume and panning for a few, and even tranposing something to make it blend better. Ultimately...my favorite edits are when I take things out of order, like "Anakin's Betrayal" and play the middle, beginning, and then the end...those were fun to play with. If you are doing your own edit, you'll find that it is much harder to pick and choose what you want, as this music has a tendency to edit and cut itself where it wants. If I ever found myself trying to cut a piece the way I wanted it...and it wouldn't work over and over...I had to step back and listen for where the music wanted to be cut and arranged...if that makes sense. It was a great project
  22. I never meant this to be a chronological interpretation of Star Wars. And.....as far as track order goes for ROTS: SPOILERS: Track 15: The Dark Side Beckons This song opens with the very end of "Grievous Speaks to Lord Sidious" because of the ambivilent nature of the music, and plus it sounded so great leading into "Palpatine's Teachings" which is what I was looking for. This music expresses Anakin's temptation by Palpatine, with the conflict between Vader's theme and the Force theme mirroring Anakin's internal conflict. As the tension increases so does the pace of the music, which is cut short by introducting "Anakin's Betrayal." "Anakin's Betrayal" is pretty cut up, as I start with the middle section (Around 1:32) and move into the true climax of this edit (moving from 2:04 back to 0:22). I use this as the climax because the choral build has a much more emotionally powerful feel to it (until 1:06 going back to 3:28). The end is used to finish the piece and bring emotion levels back down. This music articulates Anakin's turn to the dark side during the duel between Palpatine and Mace. His turn to the dark side is complete when he rushes into the duel and kills Mace in order to save his new master. That moment for me is expressed through the choral section. At this point Anakin is now Darth Vader. Track 16: Enter Darth Vader This music is from the scene when Anakin kills the Seperatists on Mustafar...he most certainly is Darth Vader now. Obi-Wan tracks him to Mustafar and confronts him there, begining the duel ala.... Track 17: Battle of the Heroes This is used instead of Anakin vs. Obi-Wan because I wanted to use the concert version and leave out the bits recycled from TESB... Track 18: Relinquished and Retrieved This music begins with the end of "Anakin's Dark Deeds", which seemed to fit after "Battle of the Heroes" as it has a mournful feel as we reflect upon the destruction Vader has created. As this piece swells, I imagine Obi-Wan leave Vader behind to die...being burned alive. Hence "Relinquished". "Retrieved" begins with "The Immolition Scene" where Palpatine arrives at Mustafar to collect what is left of his young apprentice. How do I know this music is from that scene? Just a guess since "Immolition" refers to death/sacrifice by fire. SPOILERS END. So you see...the only issue you may really have with continuity would be the first part of "Relinquished and Retrieved"...but this is interpretive and a musical journey...not a condensed chronology of the saga. In addition, we aren't able to identify with the ROTS score yet because no one has heard the score in context with the film. Lastly... you are just wrong about SPOILERS:when Vader is "born." If you are referring to the creation of the mechanical Vader...that scene is intercut with the birth of the twins, a piece I didn't even use. Anakin becomes Darth Vader halfway through the film. That's what I think anyways...
  23. If you want hot unknown...Elin is it!! Love the Sweds...
  24. Alrighty...sorry I got kind of miffy...I just hate being quoted out of context and am used to some pretty wacky crap on other boards. Thanks.
