  1. I'll be there saturday matinee 3rd row orchestra more to the left stage. I'm sooo excited ... what a way to end a week of finals!
  2. OK so my question has an obvious answer, How did John Powell get a score like this movie! He's never done a serious film except "i am sam." besides that! its all comedy and hard core action. I know that he already had the established relationship with working with the other people who made the film, but it also seems like such a late add to the film. Perhaps they weren't going to have music and then decided late in the game to put a soundtrack on it. Its a difficult film to even think that their making, and i can't imagine being in John Powell's shoes having to score this film (coming off of Ice Age 2, his latest release). It should be interesting and i'm intersted in hearing what you all have to say about it too.
  3. Hey everyone, i just wanted to point out something that i found pretty funny in the recording of the interview - sounds like one of them is pretty hungry... a couple of times you can hear some stomach growls! also i found it amusing that near the beginning yo yo seems to take a breath to interject with something he wanted to say, however, John Williams keeps on talking cutting him off. Any other thoughts about their conversation, i enjoyed it and recommend it!
  4. So i'm here in my room with my good friend and we're listening to FF7 stuff. I was wondering, does anyone know what program he might have used to write this on? Perhaps where he got his midi samples from or if he made them himself (him being Nobuo Uematsu)? The wave was unnecessary but i felt like waving....
  5. In simpler terms its the same as 4/4 but everything is twice as fast. So you would see a quarter note but it would be played as an eighth.
  6. according to IMDB he did the mini-series Wit a couple years back that's so closed minded........ EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS!
  7. So as I was searching through the bowel's of iTunes the other day I came accorss a 20th century composer whom i had never heard of before. The 30 second clip of the second movement from the third symphony sold it to me. The sounds were so fresh and just revitalizing. His name is Heynrick Gorecki (not so sure on the spelling of the heynrick part). Anyways, I had never heard of him before and if anyone is really looking for a great piece of music i highly recommend his third Symphony. its just so good! It starts out with the double basses and gradually add's the cello's and then builds to full orchestra taking about 15 minutes to do so, and then goes back down but ends with the violins, and the best part is that its so organic, so smooth, that you don't even notice it the first time you listen! and then of coarse, the solo soprano comes in (on the recording i bought its sung by Dawn Upshaw, what a voice on her! its gorgeous i just had to share this new obession with this piece and think that its a shame that i've never heard it before. which probably means not too many others have either.
  8. I love reading these things every once and a while when i have some time to kill, i just wish i had more time to kill...... its a tragedy Is it really better stirred and not shaken? or shaken and not stirred?
  9. i bought it from amazon.com still waiting anxiously
  10. They did BOTH at the may concerts, which means they may do it at tanglewood
  11. Ok i completely thought this movie was gonna be stupid and dumb but i thought it was really alot of fun. the best part however, was the john powell score that is unreleased!!!! it was great it had a whole tango feel to it that made it a great compeition between the characters. Just a lot of fun at the movies.
  12. I'LL DO IT TOO!!! sounds like fun, when's it due?
  13. THAT WAS SUCH AN AWESOME SHOW!!!! hearing all those great themes live is such a great and refreshing experience from hearing the same recording over and over The Silent film music too was wicked awesome. its a shame williams wasn't there himself but im sure war of the worlds will be worth it.
