  1. Not sure I could come up with five but I have never cared for Presumed Innocent. I even watched the film again recently, and it has, as does Williams score for me...such a lifetime TV movie vibe.
  2. I find it hard to agree with that until I see the films themselves. With just the scores, I think they are perfect. By the way, does anyone else get a "Its Working!" vibe in relation to War Horse? I of course refer to the bit of music from said dialogue in The Phantom Menace.
  3. You wait though...with all the praise Williams has been getting, as well as Shore, someone will come out of the woodwork with some truly awful score that will win the oscar instead of one of these fine two gentlemen. It will happen.
  4. Nice to see another fellow JW Utah fan on here! I know what you mean, the Media Plays in the day always had 2 sections and for some reason, the people at the store I frequented, always had a pretty good knowledge of the section too. It was strange.
  5. It seemed that way, especially how it's used in track 15. The scene that it plays over. I'll have to take closer notice next time of how that smaller moment plays out in track 14. To see where exactly it's spotted. This is just my initial observation. Sort of how "Regaining a Son" works in Seven Years in Tibet. And since you bring that up...how beautiful is that anyway, and more importantly the Williams/Ma version, Elegy for Cello and Orchestra from 2001? That and War Horse's main theme are definetly in my top 20.
  6. Yup. Thats what my total is so far. I do have the concert works on mine, but dont have quite a few of his older scores (pre Sugarland Express) I still need to get those. A 16 GB nano is the perfect device for a JW collection!
  7. Count me in too. I thought that the first time I heard it, but was afraid to bring it up. I'm new and didn't know how Zimmer and company were appreciated around here.
  8. Y'a know, I'm a big fan of just calling it the Bonding theme. It just evokes that feeling you get when everything is working as it should. You feel yourself going forward and your not only bonding with individuals, but places and perhaps even things. From what I gather about the story, it too is a lot about living life in such uncertain times, but still wanting to persevere into the future. The music is outstanding.
  9. yeah, I know it now. I think Jason has drummed it into everyones heads by now...mine included But its too late to change it, so I guess I'll just leave it in honor of all us people that were so unfamilliar with Tintin to begin with
  10. I recently purchased a red 16 GB Nano. I put my entire collection of John Williams on it. And JW only. It stands at about 11 GB. I love it. 11. Thanks! Good to know I'm not the only one with it on auto repeat Problem is. I cant decide what music to play these days...War Horse or Tintin.
  12. When listening to Williams talk about music or just about anything, I always feel so... uneducated He really does come across as a genius.
  13. Well, I guess it would be hard to be groundbreaking, when your John Williams and you turn out such tremendous quality every single time.
  14. My first reaction was of gratitude that John Williams still graces this world with his music. I was grinning happily through every track because of the energy, orchestral mastery and power of the music that sounds so effortless and inspiring. Indeed. He is truly an inspiration and a musical marvel. I always say...if the world has to come to a certain point, where John Williams passes on.....he will be the one person/celebrity, I most likely would cry about and think its the end of the world. Those Michael Jackson and Elvis people would have nothing on me that day.
  15. Option 2. And I think Williams accomplish's this more often then other composers. Its why he's my favorite.
  16. My very first was this collection of sci fi music which included Star Wars, 2001, Holst's The Planets and a few more. I was about six and I would use my little tape recorder to record the sound from SW on video, so i could play it without the movie. I was finally given the above mentioned CD.
  17. Wow. I always knew SS was passed up numerous times for Best Director, but I I guess I never realized he wasn't even nominated for Jaws.
  18. That article links to a story in which Jack Horner, one of the worlds leading palaeontologists, discusses the base subject of Jurassic Park 4. And they debunk certain things that couldn't have happened in the real world as far as what dinos could do, based on new investigations. Quite fasinating. I could definetly see Spielberg directing now. As it turns out, Michael Crichton was right afterall. He only had it the wrong way. New evidence suggets the modern day ancestors...birds could be used to genetically enginner reverse-dinos! Amazing.
  19. Well I know he tends to say something is great about a lot of things that sometimes dont turn out. But I guess as myself really wanting Williams to write another JP score instead of another Indy score, I hope maybe he has some type of tiff with George and decides to make JP 4 instead, to show people he can make part fours turn out ok :-)
  20. I think Spielberg might end up directing this time actually. I read somewhere before, he was really excited about the story,so it wouldn't suprise me. He could make Lincoln, then make JP4 or Robocolypse.
