As usual, Boston Pops announced their Spring Pops Season in Group Section.
According to this material, there will be 3 John Williams Film Night Tributes Concerts on May 29-May 31 in Boston (Symphony Hall). All three concerts will be conducted by Keith Lockhart. Unfortunately there is no clear info on John’s presence during the concerts, no „special guest„ announcement neither.
My assumption is, that JW might not be there after all, but this is just a guess…

Just got back home from Boston. I’m so glad I went this year after last years‘round trip with no JW appearance. This was the single most intense concert experience I’ve ever had. Great performance, loved the new pieces from TFA. I made the trip from Bratislava, Slovakia to Boston and back in less than 56 hours, but it was worth every minute of travel.

I actually made the round trip from Vienna to Boston just to see Kaufman conducting (although decent after all), so I'm hoping for different story this year... should I find inner strength to go again

Hmmm...co conducting seems to be a thing for JW these days....
Better this way than what happened last year...

Just found out info regarding May's Boston concerts: http://groupevents.bostonpops.org/uploads/files/home/16POPS-brochure.pdf
JOHN WILLIAMS’ FILM NIGHT John Williams & Keith Lockhart, conductors
Thursday May 12, 8pm Friday May 13, 8pm
Boston Pops Laureate Conductor John Williams shares the podium with Boston Pops Conductor Keith Lockhart for this signature concert. The brilliant composer and conductor behind films including Jaws, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and the Harry Potter series, brings you a night of some of the most memorable movie music film clips of all time. This is a concert not to be missed!
As stated elsewhere here, tickets should go on sale on February 22nd 2016

Invest 2000 euro in a trip to the US to see John Williams, then tell me that again!
nothing to add.... I still remember that feeling...
-
Regret that you sold your other ticket?
not really, because I wouldn’t be able to make the trip in August anyhow.... Boston was my only chance this (and most probably also next) year to see him live.
I hope he will be able to make it to Tanglewood so at least one of us got a chance to see him performing live
Fingers crossed

All in all, this was one great event and for me personally an excitement 2 days roundtrip to Boston from Europe. I'm very glad I went. I might not be able to see JW performing live, but at least I gave it a shot. Giving the circumstances, I think Kaufmann was very decent sub.
-
Man that's a crushing blow. I'm coming from England and have worked hard to afford the trip. I was really looking forward to seeing him up there on the stage for the first time in my life. Really heartbreaking. The most important thing is that he's okay, but damn that's hard to stomach.
You are not alone in your misery....the same situation for me...coming all the way from Slovakia (via VIE-LHR-BOS

I have bought one Tanglewood Aug 22 (Section 2) ticket yesterday for back-up reasons, should there be no Boston May concert happening.
I'm still hoping for Boston though + have already booked airline&hotel ....but if anyone will be interested in that Tanglewood ticket just let me know.

So basically if I call symphony hall tomorrow they will tell me that there will be a John Williams concert on the 22th and tickets will go for sale in March?
I dont want to sound paranoid, but in 2003 and 2004 I booked a short holiday to London to see Jerry Goldsmith in concert and he cancelled because of illness both times.
That is the answer I've got from them in e-mail. I've already booked roundtrip VIE-LHR-BOS so it better be happening
-
I must correct myself: the 2015 Pops season is already announced, but none of the concerts (including JW Film Nights) aren't yet available to purchase.
So they are available to purchase?
Recent info from BSO Customer care: They confirmed the JW Film Night concerts on May 22&23, but tickets will be available someday in March most probably.
Quote: We are waiting for the date but all we know is it will be in March.
So I probably book the airline and hotel and hope for May 23 ticket luck
-
The film night better be happening, I already booked plane tickets and a hotel!
I'm still little uncertain whether I should do this as well or wait....the problem is, that I'm not sure how long to wait. The schedule says, there is Film night on May 22&23, yet no info about tickets. I still hope, that after this Sunday 25th there will be some more info available. I want to fly over from Europe and just book the tickets without any additional info....well....I'm kind of worried.
