  1. So I saw this on the Jo Ann Kane Instagram page. The track title is a bit odd so I just wondered if anyone knew what it was for or where it is from?
  2. He seemed like Tarkin's bitch in the film
  3. I've just seen the film and it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. That, George Lucas, is how you make a decent prequel. Positives: - Vader's inclusion was pretty tasteful, I'm glad they didn't over do it - The humour ("Are you kidding? I'm blind!") - The score fitted really well with the film I thought - The general consensus here seems to be that CGI Tarkin and Leia were shite, but I thought they were quite good. Maybe I just haven't seen enough films with more impressive CGI Negatives - Some of the callbacks/references were handled a bit clumsily, the C3PO and R2D2 cameo was unnecessary - "I am one with the force and the force is with me" - Krennick wasn't that great, but what can you expect from a villain who is so low down in the chain of command
  4. Just saw the film. Thought the music fitted very well. Seemed like there was loads of unreleased stuff.
  5. I'm not sure, I guess I'm not a fan of the whole ghostwriter thing. I suppose I'm quite old fashioned when it comes to film music. I appreciate the production itself which makes me enjoy the music more. For example I love listening to JW for many reasons, one of which is because I know he wrote every note with a pencil and paper. Sounds weird I know, but that's just me. Not that I'm completely anti-Zimmer though.
  6. The thing that would bother me is how much of it would actually be Zimmer himself
  7. I can still hope! The man is wasted on TV
  8. Soon it'll just be cheaper to hire JW and the Hollywood Studio Symphony to perform it in your living room
  9. Johnson is unaware that scoring has even started. He's still putting together same samples of his brother's work to show the producers.
  10. The series does kinda drag a little. I wonder how many seasons they are envisioning
  11. I find Mike's story a lot more interesting than Jimmy's
  12. I am very enjoying this series, season 2 was much better than season 1 and I can't wait for season 3. That's about as much writing as I can do.
  13. Okay so I've have a had a couple of listens through and here are some thoughts (bear in mind I'm yet to see the film) - It does sound like a Star Wars score, a Giacchino Star Wars score, but a Star Wars score nonetheless - Jyn's Theme is quite nice, very Giacchino-y - The action material is mostly engaging, the best material comes when he's clearly trying to write like JW (Confrontation on Eadu) - Some of the adaptations of the Imperial March are slightly awkward, however I enjoyed the integrations of the Force Theme - Was pleasantly surprised by some of the Star Wars themes that were referenced up throughout the score I'm not exactly overwhelmed by this score but I think it is a pretty solid effort given the time he had to write it in and the inevitable comparisons with JW. Obviously no way near the quality of any other Star Wars score, but did anyone expect it to be? Of course I'm #teamdesplat so I'm still longing for what could have been.
  14. I remember seeing an interview with JW where he was asked what he considers to be his best score and he said something along the lines of he always hopes his next one will be
