Yay, another G&O fan!
Yeah!
Right, this is what the line was:
"Don't care if it's braindead, don't care if it's limbless, if it has a penis"
Much funnier than my half-remembered version of the punchline.

Women generally have no idea who Williams is. Thats why this place is such a huge sausage party.
Perhaps more women than you know lurk here for a bit and decide it's not welcoming?
Obviously I have no idea, just an alternate theory.

P.S. This thread could also function as a gathering point for other parenting talk.
Resurrecting this thread to serve this purpose, as a place for general parenting/kids talk.
My daughter is 2-and-a-half and we're finding out the gender of our second kid this afternoon!
To borrow from a bit the comedy duo Garfunkel & Oates performs, all parents are lying if they say they don't have a preference for gender and break out the old "As long as it's healthy" cliche. G&O use the joke, "I don't care if it's born without eyes or legs as long as it's a boy!"
I admit to wanting a boy this time! Doesn't mean I'd love the child any less if it's a girl!

Yeah I wouldn't even have minded some minor CG alterations to his face. Going 100% CG was the mistake.

Hard to believe we're as far from Jurassic Park and Pulp Fiction as they were from Gone With the Wind and Metropolis.

Fucking hell you are being literal and annoying today, Jason!
Yeah, I wasn't trying to make some precise, exact comparison. Just a general feeling.

It's sort of wild for me to wrap my head around that we're as far from Jurassic Park and Pulp Fiction as those were from, I dunno, Mary Poppins and Butch Cassidy.

That seems to be a deliberate creative decision on Williams' part, anticipating the clapping and obnoxious cheering from the audience. You wouldn't be able to hear the piano anyway.
Yeah that makes sense for a live concert like this. Watching the film that piano part is such an amazing capstone to the incredible emotional crescendo of that last scene. It's probably my favorite transition to credits in film history.

"insert Marvel movie"
It's my favorite one in the MCU.

What's our measure of a classic anyway? Is it that a lot of people still actively like and will watch the film years later? By that measure, all of the Star Wars prequels are classic films.

Oops! He must have edited that in afterward! Or I just missed it. Ah well. I prodded him and got a more insightful answer

Cue the entrance of the Brotherhood of the Holy Nolanites or whatever.

I think it's fine, since you can tell Stew gets the vibe of this place. He's one of us now!
Not saying Stiff's behavior should be encouraged, though...
I like to think I'm able to keep one foot in the sane world.

Purely in terms of Blockbusters, I think TDK will have a similar impact and longevity that some of those 80's movies many of us grew up with
Ugh. Sad but true.

Probably the five best films I have seen this century are TRAFFIC, POA, TTSS, UNDER THE SKIN, and MASTER AND COMMANDER (with honorable mentions for THE MATRIX RELOADED, and TRON LEGACY).
This wasn't the question.

Listening to a bit of New Order this morning. A few years ago I decided this is my absolute favorite New Order song. It's amazing.

They definitely do, at least for more crowdpleasing fare. It's a Wonderful Life and The Wizard of Oz are great examples too of films that TV made into the classics they are today. Of course in this new era of streaming platforms slowly usurping traditional TV channels, who knows.

Stefan is right.
That felt gross to say, I need a shower.

Depends on what gains traction through TV airings. Like, The Shawshank Redemption really only came to be considered a classic when it kept airing and re-airing on American cable channels like TNT or whatever.

If they create a Leia performance in CG for Episode IX, I seriously will not see it.
