  1. Me too, I hate orchestral scores. Those darn trumpets..
  2. I was always bitterly disappointed Along Came a Spider didn't live up to its title. I craved Goldsmith doing giant spider rampage music.
  3. War for the Planet of the Apes by Michael Giacchino Definitely one of his better ones. Even the sound mixing sounds less dry than usual (for my ears at least. I could be wrong in that aspect).
  4. There's indeed still a ton of Horner, Goldsmith, Williams, etc I haven't heard yet. Just making little discoveries a bit at a time. I can never really predict what my ears will make of it, despite a score's popularity. I've really become fond of Hollow Man recently, while every time I try to listen to Braveheart nothing clicks. I actually liked what I've heard of The BFG, moreso than when I tried to listen to Tintin or War Horse.
  5. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle by Henry Jackman Why does this sound more like a worthy Kong score than the actual Henry Jackman Kong work?
  6. Star Trek: The Final Frontier by Jerry Goldsmith- Haven't really gotten into this one. I've given this several tries, and anything that isn't Klingon or main theme statements just passes through one ear and out the other. I'd sell it, but I guess everyone who loves this score already has it. I mean, it's good, just doesn't captivate me. Congo by Jerry Goldsmith- This one's really fun though! The ten minute finale is quite delicious, even if it's overall a good burger compared to the banquet that Ghost and the Darkness provides.
  7. Yeah, I usually don't do those myself and only make exceptions in cases like "I truly doubt Varese will ever put out Deep Blue Sea: Deluxe Edition, so I might as well". Or because I couldn't have Randy Newman at the end of JP3.
  8. Two minutes into this cue and suddenly I had trouble falling asleep last night. Can't imagine why.
  9. Because you can't enjoy both JP3 AND JW's scores! That's simply impossible! (Though thank goodness the bootleg was easy to find, as JP3's OST is simply atrocious, Randy Newman and all)
  10. No, but I assume I'm the only one to own five Jurassic Park CD's (soon to be six).
  11. Same. But I was indeed confused for a moment by its reprisal here. It took another listen to recognize subtle differences. But I'm still half asleep anyway (I've got a dog on me and he won't get up...). I do hope there's a theme specific to Fallen Kingdom (in the vein of how John Williams had a Lost World theme and only reprised the first film's theme at the beginning and end). Come to think of it, Don Davis' JP3 is the only one to not have its own theme, but I suppose JP3 didn't deserve one.
  12. There's a syth sound (at least I assume it's syth) here I really loved. It almost sounds like a scream!
  13. He decided to quit IX and go score Ready Player One! Just imagine, him tossing aside the baton while recording IX, tearfully exclaiming "W-What am I DOING?! I can't leave Steven for THIS!", and then he rushes out the door to be reunited with his ol' pal.
  14. Hollow Man by Jerry Goldsmith Hey, I'm kind of digging this! One shouldn't expect this to be on par with the other Verhoeven/Goldsmith goodies, but it's a sweet atmospheric listen anyhow. I'm pleasantly surprised the OST goes over half an hour.
  15. Nothing tops Daffy's theme (1:57 and 0:19) in terms of pure blissful silliness.
  16. I haven't heard the other two yet (emphasis on "yet"), but I've gotten the impression Dinosaur was the best of the threesome.
