4 hours ago, MedigoScan said:I am pretty sure Black Widow has new material on there
For instance Gulag and Gulag End are the 2 parts of Red Rising without the microedits
Narrow Escape is The Pursuit without microedits
I dont think Budapest Bike and Car Chase part 1/2 were even on the soundtrack.Black Widow was always a weird soundtrack, since apparently some of the soundtrack didnt even get used in the movie.
I just did a quick comparison of all the tracks with the OST
fyc01 - 1m01 Upside Down : ost03 - Fireflies [The FYC is 16 seconds shorter]
fyc07 - 1m06 Narrow Escape : ost04 - The Pursuit [The FYC is 3 seconds shorter]
fyc03 - 3m22 Rooftop Escape : ost24 - Into The Past [The FYC is 25 seconds shorter]
fyc04 - 3m23 Budapest Bike : [appears to be new]
fyc06 - 3m24A Car Chase Part 1 : [appears to be new]
fyc08 - 3m24B Car Chase Part 2: [appears to be new]
fyc02 - 5m31 Gulag : ost18 - Red Rising
fyc05 - 5m31B Gulag End : ost18 - Red Rising [The two FYC cues combined are 82 seconds longer than the OST]
fyc09 - 9m57-58 Apologies : [appears to be new]
fyc10 - 9m59 Widow's Return : ost21 Faces to the Sun [The FYC is 18 seconds shorter]
I haven't listened to them extensively yet to find any of the differences beyond the most obvious visual changes to the waveforms

From what I've been reading the 1993 Anthology release of the original trilogy scores were remixed from scratch and so many incorrect takes were used, whereas the original OST and 1997 SE releases both select the same takes that were used in the film. Has anyone ever made a list of which tracks use alternate takes on the anthology, and where the edit points might be?
I know for A New Hope at least we have a list of all recorded takes and which ones were selected for the film for each track from the recording log, though not the exact edit points for each. I'm not sure if something similar exists for Empire or Jedi but I know Mike Matessino said in the FSM article on the 1997 releases that there are less alternate takes for those films.
I'm also aware of all five of the original takes of the Main Title for A New Hope being available as bonuses on the 1997 release, as far as I know this is the only case where multiple takes of a cue were intentionally released.
My interest is mainly for the sake of trying to archive as much unique material as possible from the original recording sessions.

Based on the back of the cd case it's also possible some of the material from ost1 is edited suites. I'm fairly confident all material on osts 3, 4, and 5 is in the correct order

The film does not replace the opening of 2M4 The Probe Scanner (Aboard The Executor) with music taken from the album version of The Imperial March! It uses different takes from the recording of that cue than what was used to make the album version. If you listen carefully, you will hear instrumentation differences. So, if you want to include in your set what the film does, you have to rip the music from the film itself, and it will have sound effects.
That's interesting. I was under the impression it was tracked from the concert recording too, mostly because of the Mike Matessino article in here: https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/backissues/viewissue.cfm?issueID=10

I was working on my own personal isolated score edit of A New Hope where I synced up the audio to the picture, including replicating all the film edits (heresy, I know), but I noticed a bit of a problem.
Many of the RCA OST tracks, though interestingly not all of them, seem to run slightly faster (maybe by like 3-7%) than the music in the actual film. For example, if you sync up the first part of The Battle of Yavin (Standing By) with the start of the cue in the film, you'll find that the OST cue ends 5 seconds earlier than the film cue (1:15 in the film vs 1:10 on the album, a 7% speed difference).
As far as I can tell there are no audible microedits to account for this, and the fsm articles I've read about the original trilogy score say this cue was used in the film unaltered. The only explanation I can come up with is that some of the OST tracks play too fast. Can anyone else check if this is really the case or if I'm missing something?

11a. Leaving (0:00-0:10) is from The Train Job, it plays after Big Bar Fight and immediately before the Main Title

Sorry to revive an old thread but I noticed a mistake in the cue breakdown :
Quote06 1m7A Zam Chase Pt. 1 - 3:32
Orchestrator: Conrad Pope
Length: 158 bars
Appears on OST: 03 Zam the Assassin and The Chase Through Coruscant [1:02-4:20] (3:18) - Mostly intact, but 23 seconds are microedited out at 2:23
Film Alterations: Guitar solos dialed out
Scene Description:
Notes: This cue is intended to segue directly to the next cue
^ This should say 15 seconds are microedited out not 23. You can confirm this by either adding up the timestamps or scrolling up a bit to here:
Quote06 1m7A Zam Chase Pt. 1 - 3:32 - 03 Zam the Assassin and The Chase Through Coruscant [1:02-2:32] (1:30) / Unreleased (0:15) / [2:32-4:20] (1:48)

Hi everyone! Long time lurker here, first time making a real thread.
I've been interested recently in cataloguing the history of Star Wars music releases both official and through various videogames. I decided to start at the beginning and look at some of the oldest posts on this forum to see what people were talking about at the time the prequel music releases were coming out and to see how the videogame music was catalogued as it was discovered. As I've been scrolling through, I've found several posts that seem to imply there was a website move/redesign around 2002 and there was an older version of this site that had threads on it that are no longer accessible. In particular, I've seen several references to old threads documenting the Phantom Menace score and it's appearances in various videogames. Does anyone know if there's a way to view the threads from this older version of the site? I was checking on archive.org here (https://web.archive.org/web/20011122193411/http://jwfan.net/messageboards/) but it doesn't seem to load, it's just a white screen.
Thanks!
