Once again thankyou Jay.

A few years ago I found a thread in one of the forums somewhere which detailed every Film Score release by each label going back to the 90s. I can't remember if it was on here or FSM or at Intrada. I can't find it. Could someone please direct me? Cheers R

What always astounds me is the musicianship of these incredible session players. I mean how much rehearsal would they get for one cue? The music is so multifaceted and urgent but everything is so tight. And I don't mean just this score. Their unerring ability to just pick something up and make it sound like this leaves me in total awe.

Just a shame a significant portion of the score is basically source music. But it was 1974 I guess.

I'm hoping when this score gets the same treatment as the Disaster Box we are in for a surprise equal to hearing the full score for Earthquake for the first time.

The Bronze Locust score is a little gem. Gorgeous score. There must be a load of Williams' TV stuff that is probably long gone.

You hardly see them in the movie and no close ups. Just fleeting glimpses. Watching that clip reminded me of what utter dreck the movie was. Still would be interesting to hear stuff from the vaults. I'm hoping my opinion of the whole score would suffer a seachange. How much music is there that has never been heard?

This little motif sounds just very uninspired. A kind of been there done that feel to it. In fact the entire score feels like that for me. A big disappointment compared to his music for Ep VIII which had two great themes. The Ach To music as well as the Rebel desperation motif.

Dazzled. Thankyou. How on earth do you know all this minutae?

Listen thanks again for these links. I thought the only available was the RSNO version which I love but as I say just marred a bit by wrong notes here and there.

I hadn't head of that. Thankyou v much.

For Planet of the Apes Goldsmith wrote an astonishing score that is simultaneously archaic and futuristic at the same time. It also sounds really 60s as well which I love. Music very much of its time. Back to Inferno. How many of the alternate tracks actually contain different music? As there are three versions of the Main Title presented on the LLL Two Disc set would I be right in saying they are all identical? The "alternate" on Disc two I'm guessing is just an alternate performance not alternate music? Plus the album version of the Main Title is not a re-recording right? Just lifted from the main soudtrack. Am I right? Also can someone suggest a modern digital recording of the Main Title for me? The RSNO version has fantastic punch but unfortunately there are 2 or 3 bum notes in the recording.

Thankyou for your help Jay. And your estimable knowledge. In general. I guess the Genre had long died out by the 70s but imagine what Williams would have done with such a movie! -

I'm ashamed to say I played this excellent set again today for the first time in a couple of years. I've hardly listened to it. I can't believe its nearly three years since release. What impressed me again today were the three "Source Music" Orchestral cues on Disc 2. The first sounding like a lost Main Title to some Ernest Gold-esque Biblical Epic that was never made. The second terrific action cue pre-echoes Williams work on Superman a year later. Plus a joy to hear Williams "Stalling Around" in the cartoon music. Just more testament to Williams' great versatility really. Also I love the idea of what feels like two completely separate scores for the same movie spread over two discs.
