  1. George Lucas? Tee hee, just wanted to see everyone's reaction. A lot of people think that Peter Jackson should. He would be quite good but it's just the wet dream of a LotR/HP fanatic. I can't honestly think of anybody seriously.
  2. Those are great sheets Chris. The official music book is out, or at least available at www.music-notes.com They seem a bit simple compared to yours but they're only samples. Let's see what they're like then! Please keep up the great work. I'm looking foward to "The Black Gate Opens" and how you take "Into the West". "Return of the King" is pretty long, the version in the official book is apparently 10 pages. The speed of the piece is rather slow though, so it might not be that bad; I hope it doesn't kill you!
  3. I think Alan Silvestri's unrecorded and unused score was better than MV's mess for Pirates of the Caribbean. I haven't heard it, but anything's an improvement!
  4. Initiating lockdown in... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...
  5. I just listened to it and the opening bars are the same as the Teaser opening (before "Something Wicked") but in a different key. Hedwig's Theme is heard twice, near the start and the end and it doesn't sound like a real celesta, unless it isn't one. It's still hard to determine it's authenticity but at this stage I'm leaning towards synthesised.
  6. Gah, Australia just has to be behind in broadcasting, doesn't it? Then I don't get on the bloody computer 'till 10:30 pm and I come across a whole topic on the Oscars! I will say what has been said before, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King deserved every songle award it received. I agree totally with Ren and a few others. These movies were ten times better than the Prequels or the Harry Potter movies. Score-wise is different, but Shore definately deserved it in this batch of nominations. Now, if JW is refused a nomination for PoA and it's an excellent score I think I shall boycott the Oscars. Bunch of old fools. Except for RotK, they got that right! The better thing to do would have been treat Lord of the Rings as one film split into three parts. After all, that's exactly what the books are too. I got the feeling they tried to see it this way, especially with the Best Director, Picture awards but they could have tried harder. Oh, and are you making a transcription of "The White Tree" Chris? That should be awesome. Are there any transcriptions of any other scores (especially JW's) that are noteworthy and haven't been published floating around? I have a transcrpition of "End of All Things" which is pretty good.
  7. HISS! SCRATCH! Won't work properly for me either, stupid dial-up. Doesn't sound like I'm missing much though, not until the OFFICIAL trailer comes out.
  8. No, I don't hate him. Quite the contrary in fact (no, not that far away). I admire him and think he definately deserved the ROTK Oscar. I wasn't so sure about Fellowship, becasue A.I. and Philosopher's Stone were both such good scores. I'm glad he won for Fellowship, though he deserved it more for TTT. Speaking of Fame, we're doing our whole school production of it! It's the stage version, not screen. And I'm auditioning for Schobo. Wish me luck, as I have never sung in my life...
  9. Come to think of it, in the book they talk about the differences between real wolves and werewolves with the only differences being the longer snout or something. Either way I don't think that picture is anything to go by. I heard the werewolf suit and anamatronic puppet thing were huge and scary. That picture looks like one of those dog spirits in the CoS console game if anyone has played it. Rowling created new enemies for the game and this is one of them.
  10. I voted for the Hobbit/In Dreams theme, but I think I would rather the Fellowship Theme. I'd like a theme that was in all three movies, to show that any award that RotK wins is a win for the whole series. I like "The Lord of the Rings"; not "Fellowship", "Two Towers" and "Return of the King". They are one film split into three, same as the books. They'll probably go for Gondor, with a slight possibility of "Into the West". Sorta on the same topic, a lot of people in Australian papers are tipping House of Sand and Frog as winner for the Best Score category. What's the score like?
  11. I like it, it looks cool. That's Cuaron's interpretation, not the same as mine but I like it nonetheless. Spall as Pettigrew looks excellent, I'm glad Cuaron decided to exaggerate his appearence and most likely his character. That's what is needed in a fantasy book and film of this caliber. None of this plain boring nonsense!
  12. Friggin! It's my turn to say friggin! I was postitive the first film was recorded with the LSO, perhaps I just assumed. Well, I feel less disappointed now with that news.
  13. Excellent, perhaps we'll have have had another peek into the score for PoA by then. Thanks for extending, I haven't even looked at a piece of manuscript yet!
  14. I think I nearly fell out of my seat at the car scene.... From laughter. Honestly, it was one of the stupidest things I'd ever seen. Oops, I accidentally opened the door. Ho-hum, nobody's looking, I'll just take my seatbelt off... Oh dear, the train seems to be trying to ram us for some reason. Time for some comic relief! Cue odd noises from Ron's throat and cheezy owl puppet facial expression... Perfect! Okay, I've had my fun. I don't hate it or anything... I just think the next one will improve by 100%.
  15. I don't, but I will soon! Just as soon as I find out how to gain $1000+...
  16. You do know that he's considered to be one of the greatest living composers, right? I think he cancels the other out, threefold.
  17. Well, let's hope a better quality version surfaces soon.
  18. Yeah, me neither. Oh well, I can still listen to other people's! I hope it does me till May/June
  19. I don't know whats worse; when they think the Maestro is the guitarist or they think "Classical Gas" was composed by the Maestro...
  20. Hey where's Harry Potter? Unless I had another one of those nights again, I coulda sworn it was real... And haven't you heard of all the evidence that Hitler was the Dark Wizard Grindlewald? Dumbledore defeated him in 1945, it must have been him!! /sarcasm I go to Harry Potter forums too much....
  21. Alas, it was exciting until I realised you weren't serious. I'm so dumb... A 2-CD set would be a dream, it would make up for lack of expanded first two albums more than twice. Of course, just judging by Something Wicked. Still, the wait is getting worse...
  22. Well, perhaps I was thinking of John Williamson, who's Australian and plays country guitar.
  23. I'm not ashamed to be a Williams fan! But because I know one person who even KNOWS who John Williams is, I vent all of my information on to him. I can go on for hours, bottling up my opinions and stuff. The worst thing in the world is when I say John Williams is my favourite artist, and they all say "Who? The guitarist?"! I hate country music and that guitarist!!!
  24. At least it's not JW pefrorming in Sydney not Melb, then I'd be REALLY angry!
  25. We were promised more music for a new trailer. I really think it is Williams, the whole thing leads up to Hedwig's Theme seamlessly.
