  1. I agree 100%. That's why I think that the possibility of it being one of Snoke's other scenes (possibly an unused alternate?) is strong. Does anybody remember where his other scenes were in the chronological order? I've only seen the movie once and before I had either version of the score. I'd put it in as one of those other scenes.
  2. I was wondering this as well, because it's not a typical full-blown "Concert arrangement". It's unremarkable, yet dark and ominous, as if it is underscore for one of Snoke's small scenes. If it is a full concert arrangement, then Snoke's theme may me the most unremarkable ever. At least for a main bad guy. Then again, Emperor's Theme didn't come out until ROTJ, and the ominous underscore during his Empire scene was abandoned in favor of it. Also, in trying to make my version combining the best of both, is the Spreadsheet everything or are there differences not represented when you follow that? For example, do we have minor edits to get the best of both worlds or "alternates" in cases of too many edits for most of us casual layman editors to attempt?
  3. I believe in the world of writing, it can be called truncated? Sometimes many may go unnoticed until you get the whole piece and note the missing parts. Often unimportant, sometimes you can't believe it was taken out.
  4. True. I hear the differences but since we only had the OST for a couple days before we got this, I hadn't memorized it yet and the new music is harder to pick out to me than a score I have memorized more. So I appreciate that some of these guys got it down to the note. I tried putting the 1st track in a WAV editor and got exhausted by the daunting task. Talk about micro-edits. Wow. Is anybody here planning on doing a full micro-edit? Or is everyone doing partial selection ones?
  5. Wow... see all this stuff must be straightened out before I try an edit. LOL, I'd get so frustrated to make an edit and then miss stuff or just finish and BOOM a higher bitrate promo surfaces. Keep up the collective great work, guys! And about the sound quality... to me the low bitrate mp3s muffle the fidelity to the point of sounding like I put cotton in my ears, which is why I'm not crazy about them and holding out for higher bitrate versions. They sound good for the bitrate, but still we lose a lot of information. Meanwhile, I felt like the CD was mixed a little flatter than some (and it also sounded flat in the movie theatre), but at least it's clear. Many CDs are mixed to basically peg out as much as possible without clipping (like KM mentioned above), but at least it sounds very nice on my home theatre. Seems like not as dynamic though.
  6. I'm with Jay for the Main Title as well. I like a track break at the end of it too.... mean I've listened to it so many times since 1978 or '79 or so that I usually skip it when listening to any SW score. However, I noted this one truly sounds different both as the film started and the OST. Between the smaller orchestra and/or the mix or something. The whole score, I noted, had a different sound between this and the LSO SW recordings. The thing that strikes me most and why I haven't begun a personal edit yet is the sound quality difference. It's quite noticeable between the two sources. I want to sit down and micro-edit, but what if a higher quality source hits? (What a dilemma to happen less than a week after the movie and album drops, huh? ) So thank you for the "easy mode" play list. However, do we yet have a definitive micro-edit playlist yet? I figure if I'm going to take the time to edit, I want to do it definitively.
  7. As bad as the "UE" was (and boy I remember we all were so pumped to get it then threw an absolute hissy fit temper tantrum about it being almost an isolated score), it's still nowhere near as bad as... well... NOTHING. Like we got for the other two Prequels. If it not for video games, it'd be woefully pathetic. Especially Sith.
  8. I want to make an edit but my God there are seemingly a ton of micro-edits in here from what I hear and read here, then the low bitrate too. Big headache to do. Then do it and a higher quality version comes along, or a 2-CD set, lol.
  9. Something happened between our emails. I have a Gmail I'll email you with that may work. My regular one for some reason works fine for all except yours. Maybe at the server level or something? Strange. I'm hoping the guy knows someone.
  10. Holy &##&#&# this would be amazing if true!!!! ? If the DVD / Bluray is coming in the Spring, it may coincide with that. Also, it may have been deleted because insiders didn't want it leaked. Either way, hopeful. ?
  11. Wow, nice job! Curious... how many visits to the theatre does it take to compile this? I was thinking I wanted to make myself a chronological edit, but like many of you said, the "listening experience" works for a change here. Best one since Empire Strikes Back's 2-LP. I love the Prequels expanded scores but their OST's were terribly incomplete and nonsensical listens on their own.
  12. Finally was able to download and listen to it 3+ times with the download (from ProStudioMasters.com) after Amazon failed me with the CD that I pre-ordered months in advance (VERY pissed about that!). Most of the non-"Classic Theme" parts weren't as immediately recognizable in the theatre, but I recognize the scenes (track titles + fairly chronological order that you all have noted). Now getting a better feel of them via the album. A lot of material to digest, but love every second of it. Very pleased, and the HD files sound great. But then, along with the fun... there's always an additional sadness with an initial John Williams / Star Wars score knowing there's so much more that does not get released. This should hold us... for a while.
  13. Thanks for the 192khz, 24 bit High Def audio links from me as well! The CD will eventually get to me (or eventually find in a store). The anti-spoiler measures for this film go beyond anything ever seen before. Can't even get the soundtrack a day after I saw the film?! Beyond secrecy! I went with ProStudio Masters. Downloading now.
  14. Saw the movie last night (with little sleep and tired from work and baby) and based on a few spoilers I accidentally read on various sites, I already knew that mass audiences would enjoy it like the enjoyed the Original Trilogy more than the Prequel Trilogy. It appears to be the case. But since I enjoyed every Star Wars to date (a silent minority opinion, I suppose?), I'm happy as a fan but happier than everyone's enjoying it as much as I did for a change, so I'm not feeling like I'm the only one enjoying them while everyone else bashes it. That being said, the Prequels had more original stories, but this has the charm, enthusiasm, adventurousness and wit of the Original Trilogy (to which I believe the Prequels get bashed so much - not their stories but their lack of on screen chemistry and wit). During the movie, I did note that Williams score is heard and enjoyable, but not as memorable. I read many other had this experience as well. This isn't a bad thing... as it just probably takes more listens. Parts may have been covered by SFX and dialog, only time will tell. This is the 1st Star Wars score/film since RotJ that I watched the movie before listening to the soundtrack album (and having it nearly completely memorized). As for the score, Amazon, which I pre-ordered months ago from, was supposed to have my CD copy here today. Still waiting and no tracking number. Seriously, Amazon? Usually they have my pre-ordered items at my front door quicker than I could've gotten by driving to a store. But on that thought, according to all inquiries, no store within a 100 mile radius has the CD in stock. I find this impossibly ludicrous considering the nature of the Star Wars franchise. At least not visible via online searches. Perhaps a few phone calls are in order, to which I will get the puzzled sounding questions from the stupid not-deserving-of-minimum-wage employees, "The DVD isn't out yet. Nor is the Blu-ray. CD? Huh? A Music soundtrack? There were no songs in Star Wars! Are you crazy? Wait... background sounds with no drum beat, guitar or words? They still make those? Who buys those? Oh well, I'll look [*20 minute wait later, to which I could have driven to the store myself*] You're still here? No, it doesn't exist, sorry.". Before I determine what store to drive to (if at all), I am considering the online HD downloads. In fact, probably going that route after I post. I hate digital downloads, but this is Star Wars and John Williams, so I'll bite. PS - And on a final note... King Mark why haven't I been able to email you in months? Did your change your email or does your server just block me?
  15. It is hard to pick favorites. One can see why Matessino went for 3 discs. It would be hard to cut any of that material out.
  16. Wait... what? How did Star Wars Prequel bashing find it's way into a thread about the A.I. 3-CD set? LOL! Some things never change here! Got mine today (ordered it as soon as I could Tuesday, got shipping notification sometime later that night, tracked it to my home today), it is glorious. Looks amazing, sounds amazing. Really a definitive release... if only all releases were like this! Bravo! Hadn't listened to anything from the score in a good while... damn Abandoned, Blue Fairy and Reunion music got the tears a little welled up just like 10 or 15 years ago. Damn you, Williams! lol!
  17. Much like others such as Stefancos have noted above, this type of release for Transformers and G.I. Joe (which had a LOT of crossover and were the same composer), would be most desired. And quite possibly my #1 most holy grail score release of all time, as most of my oher most-wanted have already been released in one form or another (or sometimes multiple times, lol).
  18. Whoa! Scared the heck out of me. I'm one of the guys who doesn't always check the forums but checks the main page a few times a week unless reeeaaally busy. Scared me that it was sold out on the Kritzerland site, but SAE saved the day. My perfect John WIlliams score CD collection stays intact. *Whew!* (Except between these limited JW releases and Masterpiece Transformers, my wife is going to lop my head off. Or my wallet hand. Or worse. Ugh.)
  19. The more I blow it up, I'm leaning heavily towards it being him. Something about the eyes look familiar. It's amazing how skinny he was though, which is what is throwing us off, in addition to the resolution quality of the original photo.
  20. Wow, excellent work! If that picture does show our Johnny... he was WICKED skinny back then! Weight gain can puff features out and with age, the skull can actually change a bit (brows tend to keep growing for example), but I wonder - using a little forensic stuff here - if a similar angle overlay could line up the skulls. It's a fairly faded, low-res pic in that poster, but a basic outline may be able to be lined up.
  21. Too bad they didn't delete the redundant material, give us the rest of the missing music, arrange it chronologically, and release it as a physical CD. But beggars can't be choosers... I'll gladly take it. PS - I was privately hoping the 20th anniversary (where does time go?!) would see something like this... I was right!
  22. The carousel music not found on the OST being in this release is very much desired by me. The VEEERRRY dated source music as well. Absolutely love it. I recently read the book that the movie is based on (same writer, and the novel is a bit darker, more in-depth with all of the characters and back-stories, and different climatic scenes), and the score played in my mind through to the end.
  23. Ah, I got the Blu-ray first (still waiting for the 2-CD set to come) and the isolated score sounds AWESOME! Even has some unexpected pre-cue speaking. And source music is there, too, which was almost unheard in the old DVD. Since The Fury is my favorite score (tied with Empire Strikes Back and Revenge of the Sith as three scores I simply cannot choose between, but love dearly), to hear it isolated with a beautifully remasteted print is worth every penny. And at $30, that's a lot of them, haha. Now can't wait for the 2-CD set. This is one score that I am SO happy they are giving us everything. And considering that I have a sealed LP, two different releases of the OST CD and the Varese 2-CD set.... throw these two into the collection as well. Thank you La-La Land and Twilight Time! Curious... To those who got it already: Did you order direct from La-La Land or Screen Archives? I was having trouble getting the LLL's checkout system to work with one of my PayPal accounts, so I ordered from SAE. SAE got the Blu-ray to me faster than expected, but still waiting on that 2-CD set. The Blu-ray will hold me in the meantime. People mention Dracula, that would be good. A complete film version of Images seems unlikely, but very desired by me as well. And hoping/praying that all six Star Wars scores get complete/remastered treatment. Someday they will. Disney? Oh God... it took how long for that to come true with one of my other original childhood faves... The Black Hole? Ugh....
