  1. I Never said or indicated that they will abort the issuing the a definitive 2cd set of the series. The warmth sales of the OST would certainly prompt a realization that this is great niche to pursue and if we were lucky it will happen soon. Soundtracks is a niche market and so is its sub category of film scores! Get over it.
  2. I was only talking about the OST cds-( which I will be buying) And YES- it does indicate to Disney that it has market worth exploring. You have to understand the logic that a warm reception will pave way for more opportunities to explore this market. Its numbers that matter. Its the their business model. Sony exploited this to their nth degree and I see no reason why Disney wont stop at this. Its how this niche market operates.
  3. Disney needs to start milking this cow before they actually embark on true definite edition of this complete score. It will be some time but we need to support them by BUYING these new sets now !
  4. My order number is 135724. It will be another 3 weeks before I even get it. So doesn't matter when its ship -its going to be 3 million light years anyway! Do an unboxing!
  5. I doubt, since the LP editions did not have them. While SE Re-issue retained them when both were in Sony's domain.
  6. So they played the film edit of Hyperspace cue for Luke's search on the snow speeders?
  7. What are you waiting for?.. lets go...OPEN IT and tell us how good is the sound? the smell...the booklet...!!😀
  8. Has anyone from International location got their confirmation? I know I placed my order in the first 2 minutes.
  9. Ben Hur - Tadlows newest Rozsa offering is terrific. A great new recording which isnt the usual suite but the actual film score. Truth be told, we had enough of the rerecorded suites. Listening to the full score non stop is just a great way to enjoy the music in its narrative form. It finally joins the slew of other classic re-recordings of Rozsa classic film elite such as EL CID, SODOM AND GOMMORAH, QUO VADIS? and THIEF OF BAGDAD. The OST on the FSM label is yet unique and terrific sounding on its own and the whole 5cd set is indespensible with the various suites
  10. The first Special Edition 2cd program did come on cassette as well ..a long time ago! LOL - you had me there for a sec
  11. Maybe the Sony 2CD program sets will be issued on Vinyl this time instead on Disney. Sort of an opposite to what happened last time? I believe Matessino is involved in the liner notes for Disney Lp set [ An essay of some sort]
  12. I asked about these with Jon Burlingame and he said along the lines sometimes we just have to do with what the composer essentialy prefers in terms of selection based on his approach to the whole project. He himself wanted A.I (ie. Burlingame)Lets hope in coming years we may even get a new session planned.
  13. I saw the price on Amazon.UK !Its there now and steep! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Steven-Spielberg-Williams-Colln-boxset/dp/B075QKRFZR/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1506105293&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=john+williams+%26+steve+spielberg%3A+the+ultimate+collection+vinyl
  14. Try writing to Boston Symphony PR/ Marketing dept. They will send you a signed picture by him. Write a polite and friendly letter and praise the Boston pops etc. Good Luck!
  15. ... imagine hearing the Live Performance of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK! I'm getting goosebumps already.
  16. MM had said that CE3K was less of a mess in the E.T. write up post I mentioned in the other thread. In another pvt facebook page discussion MM has said about his focus on the new CE3K while discussing E.T. : MM: Strictly in terms of content, most of the music has been released in forms fine for casual purposes. In the case of E.T. the material was spread over multiple releases in varying quality and I'd go so far as to say most of the presentation on previous releases was inaccurate, which was something I didn't expect to find. So it's about the presentation and quality, with all of the music captured in super hi-resolution (not the case with releases from 15-20 years ago) and meticulously worked with & comprehensively presented. Close Encounters, being so important to the entire concept of film scoring, certainly deserves to be preserved in this way and explored further, and the new release will have that focus.
  17. The Towering Inferno is scheduled for 2017 too? and lets hope for more jaw dropping titles on Black Friday featuring a multiple John Williams set perhaps?
  18. Mike Matessino just said this (in the FSM E.T. post)... I'll chime in and say that I have no knowledge of anything happening with any of those three titles at the moment. I would recommend enjoying E.T. when it arrives and then the forthcoming CE3K. It won't be every year that these two top-tier Williams scores and Spielberg films get to be celebrated like this, so savor it.Mike M.
  19. I was oblivious to it. I was more aware of the E.T. Overture that Williams performed and recorded with the E.T. Live performance at the Shrine Auditorium in LA.
