John, why did you group the "Star Wars" films together, but not the Indiana Jones films?

Consistency is the key to inconsistency.

Did you buy the Indy trilogy in VHS?

It says, in the front cover: "Indiana Jones En Busca del Arca Perdida". In the front cover.

The chapter 23-24-25 release? Man thats ugly.

I would have like Indinana jones y el Arca perdida. Morons....

Because the SW scores are linked together by a huge number of themes, almost becoming one score, written a little at a time, like the story in the films. While the Indy scores have similar feels, there is only one recurring theme, and the movies are much more loosely linked.

Because all SW scores are my favorites, I see them equally (which I will catch heat for, I'm sure).

And because I felt like it. :P

And you don't see one as being better than the others? That's amazing.

Neil - who cannot think of any movie series where all the films are outstanding

1. Schindler's List

2. Star Wars trilogy

3. Star Wars new trilogy

4. Indiana Jones trilogy

5. Hook

6. Seven Years in Tibet

7. Far and Away

8. A.I

9. Jurassic Park

10. Saving private Ryan

And his best serious works are:

1. Violin Concerto (best piece of music I've ever heard!)

2. The Five Sacred Trees

3. Essay for Strings

4. Heartwood

5. American Journey

6. Elegy for Cello and orchestra

7. Treesong

8. Cello concerto

9. Song for World Peace

10. Trumpet concerto

God, I LOVE this music. I rank Williams with Prokofiev and Stravinsky as one of the greatest composers! He's the only film composer who you can take seriously, who isn't just a hack!

Everyone you must listen to the violin concerto. Its not easy listening, but you can easily hear John's style in there, and after a few listens, it WILL grow on you. I don't even like modern classical music much, but now I adore this great music.

P.S This is a great site. :)

Bye,

Considering this was posted in year of 2002. How come you posted Indy IV and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban as his top 10 best work in years advance when he hasn't written those works yet when at time it was in year 2002 when you posted this?

Second post on the thread (that's the one that comes after the first Damo), page one:

Oh, I already know some will undoubtley going to react because I mentioned films that have not been released yet. Well; I kind of predict that I will like them and they will be part of a series that I love as whole.

Bye,

Roald

yes, I have remained pretty consistant,

and Roald cleary is terrible at math.

he included 20 scores and counted them as 10, and 1 score won't even be written until this coming winter.

and he's a teacher???
