Edmilson 7,457
Two of the most atmospheric, oppressive and dramatic scores by composers named James. Choose your favorite!
Richard Penna 3,690
As a fan of JNH's better stuff, you'd think I'd go for Cedars, but actually I go for Sand and Fog. I'd also put The Life Before Her Eyes as a sister score. I find Horner's meanderings strangely evocativein those two. Cedars I find a little depressing. Naïve Old Fart 9,533
HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG is a competent score from an emotional film, but SNOW FALLING ON CEDARS is, for me, easily, top-5 JNH, so...no contest

Edmilson 7,457
I listened to Snow Falling on Cedars the other day and I thought it was a bit too depressing. However, the "Snow Angels/Can I Hold you Now?" combo is one of my favorite emotional moments by JNH, alongside "Malcolm is Dead" and "Central Park". Koray Savas 2,251
Snow Falling On Cedars easily. It’s one of Howard’s best. Naïve Old Fart
