1977 replied to Jay's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Are there any markings on the physical discs to indicate which pressing is which? LLL has not replied to my query. Seems i need to stop buying 1st pressings of speciality label releases. -

John Williams & Berliner Philharmoniker 14th/15th/16th Oct 2021

I did that at the one and only live concert of John Williams music in my home town and got a lot of disapproving looks and comments from the drippy audience. -

I took a stab at it myself and it certainly improved the listenability of those cues. Would be nice if I had the leak but I don't have access to those kinds of things. I e-mailed LLL to enquire about both, along with JP dentures (if they still have any left). Which disc on POA is affected? -
Expanded Original Motion Picture...? You might try requesting this over at the FSM custom cover thread...more artists and activity. Ask Steffromuk, he did a nice unified set for 007.

You are kidding So how do I know which versions I have? I got HP quite early on, think I waited a bit with Schindler. -

Re using lossy sources, do we know what the bitrates were for the lossy tracks included (intentionally or otherwise) on LLL's Schindler's List and POA? Has anyone here tried to even out the volume fluctuations on TUW cues that were sourced from the stems? -
'Spose it would help if I actually read the caption above the photo LOL

Yep. Same contents as the Deram - except for Legend which is from the OST - licenced and reissued by Silva, it seems, in perp as the contents also appear on Jerry Goldsmith: 40 Years of Film Music. It's a terrific album. The Lionheart selection makes one cry as to what the original could have been if performed by a better orchestra.

Sounds like you have the same challenge I have
-
The suite on Jerry Goldsmith with the Philharmonia is a nice well-recorded truncated representation of the score. You might also prefer the performance, think it's a bit punchier if that's the right term.

I'd definitely start with DWW, it has it all.

John Barry's THE TAMARIND SEED (1974) - 2021 Silva Screen

Qurstion is, will the SQ be worse than, better than or similar to the Network DVD iso. Any way, any new Barry > no new Barry. -
I think you answered it for yourself which everyone most definitely should do

That would be A-MAZING!!! The CPPO nails JB's music every time. Their renditions of King Kong and The Deep kick the Barry conducted originals into touch and their Tamarind Seed suite is gorgeous! I can't wait!!! -

Fantastic news! I was just about to pull the trigger on the Network DVD with iso score. Let's hold thumbs for something positive involving a certain ill-fated cruise liner... -

Has anyone ever made a stab at evening out those volume fluctuations on the film stems? -
Okay I clearly need to be far more verbose in future. 1. This was not a question as in "do you guys think they will re-visit The Edge and Chain Reaction", it was more "mmm, I wonder if they are going to release every single thing that Jerry did for Fox." 2. This was also not relating to anything expansion-wise. I've been collecting film music on CD since the mid 80s and am pretty familiar with what has and has not been expanded with regard to A-listers. 3. I also do not understand the seeming bias of everything towards expansions and C&Cs on this forum, as in "oh look, JTWfan77 is talking about The Edge and Chain Reaction, he must not know about the expansions". 4. So to avoid any further confusion: "I wonder if LLL is going to release, in some form or other, each and every single score that Jerry Goldsmith worked on for Fox. It will be interesting to see if this is the case or not. If they do get to the 90s releases, I wonder how they will deal with stuff that V/S holds in perpetuity (and may have already released - such as Chain Reaction). I also wonder if they will limit this series to things before a certain arbitrary time frame."

Nowhere in my post did I ask "about the potential of expanding those two scores". I am fully aware of those two expansions. Please re-read my post.

So what? LLL already expanded TTT in 2010. What's your point?
