  1. Honestly, I don't think anyone can answer this until they have either heard clips of the music itself or seen the film. And if this somehow means some of you HAVE seen the film already, then I hate you, hate you, HATE YOU.
  2. I have a feeling Desplat will at least end up having some interviews in the Deathly Hallows bonus features whenever Part 1 comes out on DVD/Blu. And hopefully for Part 2 there will be a bonus feature titled "John Williams reflects on ending the series he started." hehehehe
  3. Yeah, you can also see it is limited to 10,000 units on that certificate. Is it a complete score, perhaps? Or maybe it has like video content to. Quite an interesting set, and bizzare it is being "advertised" so early. Here is hoping that IF John Williams does Part 2 that we get a similar treatment! But hopefully at a cheaper price... eesh...
  4. I'm also certain the OST of Quidditch doesn't have micro edits. I do however think, after upping the volume on the recording session versions, that it does SOUND better than the OST. So for my set I do prefer a "connected" version with the session cues VS the OST.
  5. New clip from the Ultimate Edition on John Williams: http://www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/3859 I think it's cool that you can see Dan Radcliffe sitting watching Patrick Doyle do the score in a couple bits. He really did like everything to do with this series, it seems.
  6. I like your music for this very much! Nice Williams variations thrown in the mix. I also agree that Hooper does good brooding music (and I loved the music he did for Draco is Half Blood Prince). But his action is very very forgetful and sometimes even silly. Let's see you do a major action cue for Part 1!
  7. Yeah hearing the complete release of SS makes me realize just how little really of COS was truly "original", lol. COS is basically just like Home Alone 2.
  8. Well... in that case, unless they change their mind somehow or are able to loosen the rights a bit or pay more with the money they get from this run, then maybe them including that USB was more like a gesture. "Hey, you were cool and rich enough to afford this set that we can't mass produce, so please, for the love of whatever, give this to everyone!"
  9. Has anyone ever tried the "Hard Limiting" feature on Adobe Premiere?
  10. Well that makes us extremely lucky to have this Elfman box set being released then. Seems not likely non-Elfman scores of animated or even live action Disney will ever get the same treatment, unless there is new management in the future who thinks differently. Well unless there are "unofficial" releases. Thank goodness this happened to Jerry Goldsmith's "Mulan"...
  11. Definitely. Hey Datameister, free up your messages, your inbox is full! That goes for you too, Jason!
  12. You know, I actually did think this before hearing the recording sessions... but really, if you listen to it all the way through as intended, and then the OST, the OST is actually quite a hack job! lol. But the thing is, it's a NICE hack job, and it is able to make it all flow well and hit a lot of the major stand-out music. You would think all that's really missing is more variations on Hedwig's theme, and you would be right. But it's the way the variations are done, carrying the score like it is a kind of ride, and throwing in all these other crazy events as it goes along (a lot moreso in the recording session with moments like the Troll Fight and the Blue Forest). It really does play out like a Peter and the Wolf type of story to me.
  13. Yeah I always really loved the score to Sorcerer's Stone score. I remember I was still just in the stage where I was realizing movie scores were MY music, and when I saw the film I loved what I heard and I had wondered if it was "the same guy who did Jurassic Park" and sure enough, I quickly found out it was. I wanted the CD right away, and it was even one of the few movie scores my older sister wanted. That NEVER happens, if you knew her. And this wasn't built on popularity of the movie. This was still in it's infancy. I agree that HBP took me by surprise. I had zero expectation for it after seeing OOTP (which, now rewatching it, is not as bad as I remembered. But it is still a horrible adaptation of the novel source, and really took out what could have been amazing bits in the climax, and the removal of the St. Mungo's wizarding hospital was a huge mistake of all the cuts they made). But I was surprised how well of an adaptation it turned out (even with some of the Voldemort memories missing, I realized those weren't really as pivotal as they seemed, though they did add more to the character). I have to add that I actually do really like the Goblet of Fire film. I feel it is really underrated. I find it the most "fun" film of the series, despite it's Doyle score (which I also don't find to be bad at all, and much better than the Hooper ones). And it has perhaps the most chillingly dramatic climaxes of the series when Voldemort is regenerated, and then of course directly followed by the imposter Mad Eye Moody reveal scene...
  14. Yeah Cauron I think would have been perfect for the rest of the series. His style made the world really come alive. It was so disappointing to leave that style after seeing it in just one film. I still consider that the high point in the series (though the film does have flaws: some bad acting moments (HE WAS THEIR FRIEND!!!), removing perhaps the scariest part in the book for me (the dementor lifting Harry off his feet, removing his hood, seeing it's scary-ass scabbed head and twisted mouth, as it tries to suck his soul), and of course no proper explanation of the Marauder's Map and who actually made it (which wouldn't be a big deal if it weren't for the fact in subsequent movies they make references to that missing information, leaving an uninformed audience member to scratch their head for a long long time). I'm still scared with how David Yates handled the style of the action sequences in the film. I admit he gets the best out of the actors, but his style, and sometimes pacing, is quite a bit off from what I wanted out of his films. However, everything I have read from those advance screenings sounds quite positive and fulfilling, so maybe there is more to his style than presented before. And maybe it helps that he got a different cinematographer yet again (the guy who did Blood Diamond and Defiance, both action-esque films).
  15. The remaining Williams complete releases I desire most, top 5, in order: 01- Jurassic Park- I know there isn't that much missing, but this is my personal favorite score of all time. It's what started it all and I would do anything to get every piece of music ever made for this score. 02- Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom- Though the Concord release gave a vast majority of the unreleased music I desired, there is still a great bit I would love to have. This is probably my favorite Williams action score. 03- Hook- Who doesn't want this one? lol. The album barely scratches the surface of the greatness the entire score has. I really hope an official complete/expanded release does come out this year, as rumored. 04- The Lost World: Jurassic Park- A fairly underrated Williams score that has a lot of really interesting and stand-out tracks not on the album. This must be one of the few very percussion-driven scores of his, right? 05- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban- The 2nd best Potter score (first for me being Sorcerer's Stone) needs to be complete to be fully appreciated, and this would HAVE to include the version of "Something Wicked This Way Comes" as heard in the teaser trailer, for it is a different recording at a faster tempo that I love!
  16. I think the first film is still one of the best in the series. It's very faithful to the book, it's fun, has a very whimsical range on the story, and yet, is able to go to darker places. Sure not as dark as the later films, but it doesn't need to be. And it's the only Potter film that can be watched stand-alone. Hell, if they had never even done the sequels it still has a pretty well wrapped-up ending. It's a classic fairytale kind of story, and Williams score reflects this very well. I think this film gets under-appreciated by a lot of people, and all the Columbus hate is really all for nothing imo. He made them exactly how people wanted to see them, and it drew people in, like myself, who had never even read the books. That's the sign of a great film.
  17. I doubt it. It seems only Disney allows other labels like Intrada to release seemingly minor Disney classic scores. Natty Gann, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Honey I Shrunk The Kids... aside from being all Horner scores, they share in common that they are rather minor titles to the Disney name at this point. Nightmare however still has a very strong following, which means it has a very high price tag perhaps unobtainable for any soundtrack outlet. It would probably need a full-on big studio release like the Star Wars or Indiana Jones expanded editions from Sony and Concord... and now this big crazy box set. That's my theory, anyway.
  18. They haven't, but there is a high-res version of it without the title somewhere... just the burning castle... EDIT: Here it is: http://www.mugglenet.com/images/dh_poster_high_res.jpg
  19. Yeah... it sounds in some ways like a rock-enduced remix of the music in Half-Blood Prince when Dumbledore is dead and everyone is raising their wands. But it has realistic sounding choral elements and etc... so it could be real. I just hope the rest of the score doesn't sound like this. It doesn't really even sound like Desplat to me.
  20. Is this for real? I kind of don't think so after listening to it. What do you guys think? http://community.livejournal.com/ontd_discussion/1810881.html
  21. I'm not very upset about this. I respect them not churning out a crappy 3D version and/or pushing the film's release date back. In a way I sort of wish they would abandon the 3D aspect for Part 2 as well, though I guess it all really doesn't matter.
  22. AICN has an exclusive clip featuring Tim and Danny talking about "Beetlejuice" from the set: http://aintitcool.com/node/46950
